As Mike stood there bewildered, the system prompted: "Special Destiny Energy +1."
The red energy merged into Mike's glabella. His consciousness space glowed brightly with red light.
When the red light vanished, a Poke Ball appeared in the system space.
A Poke Ball?
Instinctively, Mike retrieved the Poke Ball from the space.
Skye didn't notice how the Poke Ball appeared in Mike's hand. She held the red and white Poke Ball, playing with it curiously.
"What is this?"
Mike pondered how to answer.
"Ah!"
Skye jumped in fright, the Poke Ball slipping from her hand and falling to the ground, "The ball, there's something inside the ball, it's alive!"
As if to prove Skye's words, the Poke Ball rolled a short distance forward, then spun back to Skye's feet.
"It likes me!" Skye blinked, her face full of joy.
"How do you know?"
"I just know." Skye glared at Mike, her expression saying: How dare you doubt me?
Mike instantly cowered, his eyes responding: I was just discussing, no need to be so serious.
Skye said earnestly: "I can feel it, there's a connection between us. Now what should I do?"
You're the one with the connection, not me… Mike complained inwardly, but said aloud: "How about you call it out and chat?"
Skye gave Mike a sidelong glance, then squatted down and held the Poke Ball in her palm, saying softly: "I'm sorry, that was an accident just now, I didn't mean to throw you."
The Poke Ball wobbled, as if saying: "I'll forgive you this time."
Skye exclaimed excitedly: "It can understand me!"
She stroked the Poke Ball, her movements gentle, as if comforting a small infant.
Skye tilted her head, listening to the mental communication transmitted from within the Poke Ball, and whispered: "Oh, you want to come out, then come out."
The Poke Ball shook twice, then split open in the middle, emitting a somewhat dazzling light.
A bipedal, upright Little Fire Dragon appeared before them, a little over half a meter tall, with orange skin and a cream-colored belly and underside of its tail. It wagged its tail, and the flame at the tip of its tail wagged along with it.
Little Fire Dragon!
Mike recognized the adorable creature before him at first glance.
As soon as Little Fire Dragon emerged from the Poke Ball, it was a bit dazed, tilting its head, "Kani, Kani?"
Its open mouth revealed four small milk teeth.
Oh, wow!
Mike felt a ton-level cute attack, clutching his chest, breathing with difficulty.
Not to mention Skye, whose eyes were so bright they looked like they could shoot lasers. She suppressed her excitement, afraid of scaring Little Fire Dragon.
"Kaha, Kani."
Little Fire Dragon made an unintelligible murmur, its gaze falling on Skye.
"Kaniso!"
Little Fire Dragon pounced towards Skye, hugging Skye's calf, its dumpling-like face rubbing against her.
Rubbing… Little Fire Dragon looked content.
"Good little baby!"
Skye scooped up Little Fire Dragon, carefully embracing it. One person, one dragon, rubbing faces together.
Mike was so overwhelmed by cuteness he felt like he was bleeding from his nose.
"Isn't it hot?"
Mike saw Little Fire Dragon's tail wagging, occasionally touching Skye.
"It's not hot! It's really quite strange, you try…"
Skye had Mike put his hand on the flame.
It really wasn't hot.
It felt about fifty to sixty degrees Celsius, similar to a hand warmer. It seemed Little Fire Dragon could control the temperature of its own flame.
He worried for nothing.
Watching Skye and Little Fire Dragon's intimate interaction, Mike felt his idea of holding Skye to sleep tonight was dashed. He could only comfort himself that since he was injured, he could only look but not touch, which was fine.
Should he not retreat from the front lines even with minor injuries?
Forget it, forget it, boys need to know how to protect themselves out there, ahem, that's how it is!
"Ahem…"
Mike cleared his throat to alert the engrossed Skye.
Skye looked at Mike warily, hugging Little Fire Dragon tightly: "Mine!"
"I wanted to say…"
"No matter what you say, it's mine!"
"Kani, Kaniso!"
"See, Bobby thinks so too."
"Uh…"
A name was already chosen?
When?
A few minutes later, after some verbal sparring, Mike finally got Skye to calm down.
On the sofa, Skye and Little Fire Dragon sat up straight.
And Mike transformed into an explainer.
"Little Fire Dragon, or Bobby, comes from another World. It's a Fire-type little spirit. Don't let its cute appearance fool you, it's actually a magical beast with considerable fighting power, and its combat strength increases with evolution."
"Another World?" Skye raised her hand to ask.
"Yes, as I mentioned before, Angels and demons can be seen as stronger beings living in other Worlds than humans. Little spirits live in the Little Spirit World, understand?"
"Understood, parallel Worlds, parallel Universes." Skye was a top student, a master hacker.
Mike gave a thumbs up: "Exactly! Next, I'm going to talk about the key points, so take notes seriously."
"First, Little Fire Dragon is the most docile branch of the Dragon race, and the flame at the tip of its tail reflects its mood and health. So, when caring for Little Fire Dragon, you must not be careless; always pay attention to the state of the flame at the tip of its tail, and absolutely do not let the flame at the tip of its tail extinguish."
"Secondly, Little Fire Dragon is an omnivorous spirit, so pay attention to a balanced diet of meat and vegetables when feeding it."
"Finally, Little Fire Dragon's combat power is closely related to its mood and health. When training it, be patient. If it does well, praise it; if it does poorly, encourage it."
"Mhm, mhm, mhm!" Skye nodded repeatedly. She hugged Little Fire Dragon, "So you're that amazing!"
"Kani! Kani!" Little Fire Dragon proudly raised its head, the flame at the tip of its tail dancing happily.
Mike picked up the Poke Ball: "This is called a Poke Ball, and little spirits usually live inside it."
Skye wrinkled her small nose and said: "I don't want to keep Bobby in such a small ball."
Mike said: "Some little spirits may dislike entering Poke Balls, but for most little spirits, a Poke Ball is a recovery capsule for quickly restoring stamina and injuries. You shouldn't crudely treat a Poke Ball as a cage to imprison little spirits."
"Oh, I see." Skye stroked Little Fire Dragon's head, "Bobby can go in if he wants, and not if he doesn't. Bobby, what do you think?"
"Kani!"
Little Fire Dragon was even happier. If the flame at the tip of its tail wasn't low temperature, the supermarket would have turned into a giant barbecue site.
Mike tried his best to recall knowledge about little spirits, but after all, it was a different World. What to do if it got sick, what to do if it wanted a mate?
He could only take it one step at a time.
Eventually, it was Little Fire Dragon's fiery yawn that prompted Skye to urge Mike upstairs.
It was already past two in the morning.
Mike's bed was very large. He had a dream, a dream of sleeping with many ladies under one blanket. One dragon and two phoenixes was his current record, so it seemed he still had a considerable distance to go before reaching Wei Xiaobao's level.
Skye, cuddling Little Fire Dragon, occupied most of the bed, leaving poor Mike to huddle on one side. If he hadn't been injured, he probably would have been kicked out to sleep on the floor.
Lying in bed, Mike felt his injuries. The healing speed once again surpassed his expectations. Could it be related to the Special Destiny Energy?
"So when I'm not with Skye, Little Fire Dragon will protect Skye in my place? Is this the special thing about Special Destiny Energy? So Little Fire Dragon was closer to Skye from the beginning…"
