Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

Though Leon knew something was wrong with a giant carrying a dwarf on his back, the spatial blade's speed was too extreme. Even the Six Eyes' dynamic vision couldn't track it.

Despite his best efforts to evade, Leon was grievously wounded—nearly cleaved in half.

He immediately thrust his palm forward, using Blue to create attraction behind the giant.

The immense gravitational pull seized the giant. The already damaged wall couldn't withstand the pressure and shattered completely.

The giant crashed into the shop behind, triggering screams from customers inside.

This uncharged attack couldn't harm the giant at all. Even the dwarf on his back remained well-protected and uninjured.

The giant climbed to his feet, dusted himself off, and ignored the civilians around him. Looking at Leon, whose chest and abdomen bled profusely, he smiled cruelly:

"Stupid bastard. Let's see how you handle spatial slashes."

He walked toward Leon, preparing to fulfill his earlier promise—tearing off Leon's limbs and delivering him to Colonel Stryker.

As for Leon dying? Colonel Stryker wouldn't blame him for that.

Stryker hated mutants. Why would he mourn a tool's death?

On a nearby rooftop, two groups confronted each other.

One side: Cyclops and Storm from the X-Men. The other: Juggernaut and Mystique from the Brotherhood of Mutants.

They'd encountered each other while searching for Leon and immediately clashed.

Cyclops' hand rested on his visor, ready to remove it and unleash his optic blast at any moment.

He said coldly:

"Leon Demiurge represents the future of mutantkind. We won't let you brainwash him!"

Mystique stood behind Juggernaut, avoiding potential beam strikes.

Hearing Cyclops' declaration, she retorted:

"Mutants are the superior race. Humans are merely insects. Exceptional mutants like Leon Demiurge should join the Brotherhood. We'll guide him to the correct path!"

"The 'correct path' of destruction? Like terrorists?"

Just as tensions escalated, Storm suddenly interrupted:

"Look—Leon's in serious trouble!"

Everyone's attention shifted. Their entire mission was recruiting Leon. If something happened to him, the operation would fail completely.

Looking down, they saw Leon nearly bisected by the spatial blade.

"What?!"

While they'd been arguing, their target was almost killed by Stryker's forces!

Even if Leon's performance hadn't met expectations, they couldn't tolerate Stryker killing a mutant they intended to recruit.

Cyclops prepared to remove his visor. Storm's hair began floating, her pupils gradually turning white. Juggernaut assumed a charging stance.

They had to save Leon before the giant finished him.

Though the injury was severe, mutants with healing abilities existed. Combined with advanced medical technology, timely treatment could save him.

However, what happened next froze them all in place, staring at the critically wounded Leon in shock.

He possessed another mutant ability!

The giant approached Leon slowly, mockery written across his face.

He'd break Leon's limbs, then deliver him to Colonel Stryker.

Stryker imprisoned numerous mutants, many with healing abilities. As long as Leon still breathed, he could be revived.

If he died en route? So be it. Stryker wanted mutants stronger than this one. Mutants defeated by him held no value.

But after only a few steps, he stopped, pointing at Leon in utter shock:

"You—how is this possible? Why have your injuries healed?!"

The distance and dust from the collapsed wall had obscured his view of Leon's exact condition.

Now, emerging from the smoke and drawing closer, he witnessed the wound at Leon's waist—the one that had nearly cut him in half—regenerating at impossible speed.

By the time he processed what he was seeing and stopped walking, the last traces of injury had vanished completely.

He stared at the white-haired man in disbelief. Terrifying spatial defense. Devastating gravitational attacks. Excellent physical conditioning. And now, extraordinarily powerful regeneration...

Is this really a mutant?

Even Magneto and Professor X weren't this powerful!

Could he be—a legendary Level 5 mutant?!

The situation reversed instantly. Under the excited gazes of Cyclops and the other mutants, the fearful eyes of army soldiers, and the giant's own terror, Leon grinned:

"I changed my mind. Even if you cry and beg now, I won't spare your life."

"You—"

The giant looked at Leon but couldn't bring himself to advance.

His trump card was the dwarf's spatial attack—the only ability that could breach Subject 9527's defenses.

If that ability failed, he'd have no chance against him.

He immediately grabbed one of the dwarf's arms from his shoulder, held it forward, and shouted:

"Release another spatial blade! Kill him now!"

The spatial blade obviously consumed tremendous energy. After just one use, the dwarf's entire body trembled, his face deathly pale.

But under the giant's pressure, the dwarf released another blade toward Leon.

Though energy-intensive, the spatial blade possessed devastating power and incredible speed.

This time, Leon was prepared—but still got hit. One arm and shoulder were nearly severed.

Yet with Reversal Technique's aid, his injuries healed at astonishing speed!

Witnessing the complete recovery process, seeing Leon heal from a fatal wound in mere seconds, the giant's will to fight evaporated entirely.

He immediately hurled the dwarf at Leon, fled in the opposite direction, and ordered surrounding soldiers:

"Stop him!"

The giant had lost all courage to face Leon. Flight was his only option.

Though failing the mission would earn severe punishment from Colonel Stryker, survival was possible. Better than confronting the monster before him!

Watching the dwarf fly toward him, Leon used the Six Eyes to confirm he could no longer manifest spatial blades.

So Leon extended his hands. Under the dwarf's despairing gaze, crushing pressure tore his body completely apart. Blood sprayed and splattered to the ground—he couldn't even scream.

But no blood touched Leon. The droplets that would have splashed on him floated mid-air, like the bullets suspended around him, unable to reach him at all.

Then Leon looked toward the fleeing giant. Numerous heavily armed soldiers fired frantically, and the giant had already gained considerable distance.

If ignored, he'd definitely escape.

Leon made his decision.

He extended his index finger, pointing in the giant's direction, and said quietly:

"Cursed Technique Reversal: Red."
