Chapter 2 - The Pope's Death

In the year 10086 of the Douluo calendar, several events shocked the continent.

First, the Spirit Hall's Pope, Qian Xunji, passed away. Tang Hao of the Clear Sky Sect achieved Titled Douluo status, becoming the youngest Titled Douluo on the continent.

Second, after the Pope's death, the Spirit Hall dispatched its angelic corps to attack the Clear Sky Sect. Tang Zhen, the current leader of the Clear Sky Sect, was killed, and the sect suffered heavy casualties. Only his son, Tang Xiao, and a hundred or so members survived, leaving only two or three large cats in the entire Clear Sky Sect. The sect also announced that Tang Hao was no longer a disciple of the Clear Sky Sect.

The four major sects affiliated with the Clear Sky Sect—the Po, Min, and Yu clans, led by their patriarchs—surrendered to the Spirit Hall. The Power clan split, with its patriarch, Tai Tan, and some of its members fleeing.

Third, Qian Guyue of the Qian family became the new Spirit Hall Pope.

"Huh!" Qian Guyue, sitting on the stone bed, opened his eyes, a flash of red in his lavender pupils.

"Still not working?" Qian Guyue frowned, feeling the internal state of his body.

"What's the problem?" Ever since Qian Guyue discovered that this world didn't have inner elixir, he'd been researching it alone, but to no avail.

Was his method wrong? Or was there something else going on?

Thinking of this, Qian Guyue couldn't help but glance up at the sky.

As a genius of the Qian family, Qian Guyue had access to all the confidential documents of the Spirit Hall.

Unlike his previous life's atheism, this world did have gods.

For example, the prototype of his own six-winged ice angel was the six-winged angel, the deity worshipped by the entire Qian family and Spirit Hall.

Although he'd read in ancient texts that gods weren't allowed to interfere with the lower realms,

Qian Guyue simply smiled at this statement.

After all, gods were once human!

It's impossible that becoming a god meant that human nature was gone! It wasn't possible!

The so-called rule of non-interference in the lower realms was only meant to constrain the weak. The strong made the rules, but that didn't mean they were bound by them.

If the so-called gods' interests in the lower realm were harmed, Qian Guyue didn't believe that this single sentence could bind them.

"Forget it, let's go for a walk!" Qian Guyue shook his head. "I don't know when this system will wake up!"

It's already been twenty years. Twenty whole years!

Do you know how I've spent those twenty years?

"Waiter, a pot of tea and a plate of edamame," Qian Guyue said from the stall.

"Okay! Wait a moment, sir."

"Hey, have you heard?" a passerby at the next table asked mysteriously.

"Well, what did you hear?" The others at the table looked over curiously.

"I heard that Tang Hao from the Haotian Sect has achieved a Titled Douluo breakthrough," Passerby A then said.

"What? Titled Douluo! Is that true?" they exclaimed in surprise.

"Come on, brother, tell me more!" Passerby B quickly poured Passerby A a glass of wine. Passerby A humbly accepted it.

As for the influential figures on the continent, it's not that everyone has never seen them, but everyone knows something about them. In addition, the Spirit Hall is located in the center of the continent, and there are many caravans coming and going here every day.

In the outer area of Spirit City, there is a special area to provide services for caravans.

There is also a Titled Douluo hiding in the dark here.

Um, Tang Hao? Qian Guyue, who was still drinking tea at the table next to him, heard this and his eyes lit up.

He also knew about this contemporary Haotian Sect's twin stars.

They are the most outstanding talents in the Haotian Sect besides Tang Chen. Some even say that Tang Hao's achievements in the future will not be inferior to his grandfather, Tang Chen!

Oh, this is the one who has already broken through to the Titled Douluo.

"I remember that this Tang Hao seems to be only in his forties this year!"

"Oh my god, a Titled Douluo!" someone exclaimed.

"Tang Hao looks like he's only in his forties this year!" someone else exclaimed.

"He's literally the youngest Titled Douluo on the continent!"

"Yes, the youngest Titled Douluo on the continent."

Youngest Titled Douluo? Qian Guyue chuckled disdainfully at this. Tang Hao was probably around forty-three or forty-four years old right now. At that age, a Titled Douluo would indeed be the youngest on the continent.

However, if he were to be brought to the Spirit Hall, not only Qian Guyue, but even Bibi Dong would have reached the ninetieth level, and Bibi Dong was significantly younger than Tang Hao!

"Comparisons are truly frustrating! I'm still a Minor Soul Master!" This person's tone was tinged with envy and jealousy, yet he didn't harbour any resentment.

After all, Tang Hao had the backing of the world's foremost sect, the Haotian Sect, while they were just a bunch of ordinary spirit masters.

"By the way, I heard that the Spirit Hall's Pope went out with several Titled Elders for some reason six months ago. I wonder what they were doing?"

Qian Xunji went out? And with a few elders? Is this a big deal? After all, the Pope and the elders have already been dispatched. However, Qian Guyue said, "I don't know!"

I think I went into seclusion at that time.

At this time, a woman in red walked in. The men present were immediately attracted to her.

After all, among the soul masters on the mainland, there are few female soul masters, and even fewer powerful ones.

But no one rushed over to chat. Where is this? Spirit City. If anyone causes trouble here, the law enforcement officers of the Spirit Hall will make you feel cruel.

After entering, Yan Ying took a look around and sat down directly in front of Qian Guyue.

"Looks like you have nothing to do?" Yan Ying sat down, picked up the cup, poured himself a cup of tea, and took a sip.

"What happened?" Looking at Yan Ying sitting in front of him, Qian Guyue was stunned at first, but immediately realized that something was wrong!

Add to that what he had just heard about the Pope's departure and Tang Hao's breakthrough to the Titled Douluo. Could it be these two things!

Although she was a member of the Qian family, the old man wouldn't normally come to see her unless it was necessary. But if he did, it would be a major event.

And Yan Ying was the one delivering the news.

"Pope Qian Xunji has passed away," Yan Ying's voice echoed in Qian Guyue's ears. She had been surprised when Qian Daochuan spread the news. After all, the current Pope Qian Xunji was still only in his fifties; it was impossible for him to have died of illness.

Qian Guyue's brows furrowed silently for a moment, but then recovered. Looking at the lively conversation around them, it was clear that Yan Ying had used soul power to transmit his message.

This method, while practical, consumed soul power, but also had obvious drawbacks: the two of them had to be close to each other, and if a powerful person was present, they could intercept the message.

"Let's go! Let's go find the old man!" Qian Guyue had already guessed what was going on.

She stood up, placed a silver soul coin on the table, and the two of them left for the worship hall.

Along the way, Yan Ying briefly explained the situation to Qian Guyue.

About half a year ago, not long after Qian Guyue's retreat, Qian Xunji received a report that a 100,000-year-old soul beast had been spotted in human form.

Upon hearing this, Qian Xunji immediately dispatched the ghosts from the Elder Hall to investigate.

Regardless of whether the report was true or false, a 100,000-year-old soul beast! It was bound to drop soul bones. You know, the Spirit Hall has plenty of soul bones, but most of them are low-level, with older soul bones becoming increasingly rare.

Someone on the mainland had previously compiled a ranking of soul masters' favorite items, with soul bones and 100,000-year-old soul rings topping the list.

A 100,000-year-old soul ring grants a soul master two soul skills, giving them an extra soul skill in battle. This is crucial!

Unlike soul rings, soul bones can be shed. Soul bones dropped from another person can be used by others. This means that if you possess a soul bone, it will automatically shed from your body as you age, allowing your descendants to use it.

The news they finally got was that there was indeed a transformed 100,000-year-old soul beast next to Tang Hao of the Haotian Sect. So,

Qian Xunji, overjoyed, immediately thought about taking action. Even if he couldn't use it himself, wouldn't it be an extra soul bone? And it could also enrich the Spirit Hall's treasure house.

Originally, he wanted to ask Qian Guyue to join him, but Qian Guyue was already in seclusion at that time. With no other choice, Qian Xunji went alone.
