Helicarrier — Command Deck

Gwen POV:

Smoke still lingered where fire had been. The carrier's engines rumbled with wounded persistence, held together by Tony's quick patchwork and Peter's stabilizers. Below the glass, dawn broke pale over the Atlantic. For a moment, the world exhaled.

Peter stood at the forward window, eyes tracing the horizon. Behind him, the others argued. Voices colliding, old wounds and egos flaring louder than the alarms that had finally gone silent.

Tony slammed his helmet onto the table. "We lost the scepter, Loki's in the wind and half the ship looks like Swiss cheese. Tell me how that's a win, Rogers."

Steve's brows scrunched up. "We save who we can. Then we stop him. That's what soldiers do."

"Oh right," Tony shot back, "because punching alien gods is totally covered in your training manual."

The words hit like flint on powder.

"Enough!!!" Peter said loudly and the room stilled.

He turned, calm and sharp at once. "None of us have worked together before. You're all fighting ghosts. Your pasts, your wars, your guilt, your pride. That's how we lose."

Bruce rubbed his forehead, exhausted. "And how do we win, Mr. Parker?"

Peter looked around the room. "By remembering who the enemy actually is. Loki wants us divided because together, we're dangerous. Apart, we're just noise."

He gestured toward the holomap of Manhattan glowing in front of them. "The Tesseract's energy signature just spiked. Selvig's signal triangulates to Stark Tower. Loki's making his move."

I stepped forward, calm and centered beside Peter. "Then we need to move faster."

Steve's voice was steady again. "We go as a unit. No more separate missions."

Tony smirked. "Look at that, democracy on a flying patched up death machine."

Peter ignored him. "Frank," He said into his personal encrypted comm, "mobilize Armored Divisions One through Four. Full combat readiness. Deploy Patriots all around the New York perimeter. I want aerial defense over every major corridor."

Frank Castle's gravel voice replied instantly. "Copy that, boss. I'll have the skies armored in ten."

"Good," Peter said, closing the channel. "This is going to be cataclysmic."

Helicarrier — Hangar Bay

Engines roared as fighters and transports prepped for launch. Mechanics scrambled between landing pads, the sky outside already thick with movement. I stood by our transport, my gaze fixed on the city's silhouette far beyond the clouds.

Peter approached, carrying a sealed case. The air between us hummed with unspoken weight.

He set it down and opened it. Inside: smooth white-silver plating, luminous threads running through it like veins of starlight, the Archangel of the Web suit, dormant but alive unfurled in a flash of light.

I exhaled through my nose. "You sure it's time?"

He nodded slowly. "You've seen what's coming. That portal opens and it's not just New York. It's the entire world on the line."

I brushed a finger over the armor's surface, light blooming beneath my touch. "You built this for when the world ended."

"I built it so you and I could stop the world from ending." Peter corrected me softly.

His eyes met mine. Peter's gaze was steady and unguarded. "We need hope in the sky, Gwen. The world's about to see what you really are."

For a long second, silence. Then I smiled. My smile was soft, fierce, luminous. "Then let's show them."

The armor unfolded around me, wings of light unfurling with a low, resonant hum. The Archangel of the Web took its first breath.

Peter stepped back, awe flickering behind his calm. "Still gives me chills every time."

I flexed my hands, the suit adjusting, my voice layered through the comms. "Then keep up, genius."

Stark Tower — Midtown Manhattan

Below, the city pulsed with oblivious life. Honking of taxis, chatter, news vans chasing rumors of "strange blue lights."

Above, on the tower's upper decks, the Tesseract burned inside the containment rig, feeding a column of light into the sky.

Dr. Selvig, still glass-eyed under Loki's control, whispered equations to himself.

And in the heart of the beam, space itself began to tear.

Loki stood at the edge, arms wide, eyes alight with triumph.

"Your world has been offered a glorious purpose!!!" He yelled to the storm. "And the purpose is to kneel."

S.H.I.E.L.D. Transport — Over Manhattan

The Helicarrier's strike unit streaked through the clouds, engines burning bright. Tony flew ahead in his armor, scanning the tower's energy field; Thor followed, lightning rolling off him like a wave of thunder. Steve checked his shield straps. Bruce sat quiet, eyes closed, breathing slow.

Peter stood near the rear ramp, watching the city come into view. It was alive, fragile, unaware. I stood beside him, armored and radiant, my white mask reflecting the rising storm.

He reached for my hand. "You know what this means, right?"

"Yeah," I said, voice calm. "No more running. No more half-measures and more trying to be reasonable."

"Yup and let's make it count."

The ramp lights flashed green. Steve's command voice cut through: "Avengers, move out!"

New York — Battle Begins

Loki raised the scepter.

The sky tore open.

A rift of light split the clouds, and the Chitauri poured through. A tide of cybernetic metal and flesh and war, their ships blotting out the sun.

Tony's HUD filled with enemy signatures. "Yep," He muttered, "definitely should've brought the big guns."

"Big guns are here!!!" I said, diving from the transport in a gleaming arc, my six wings of white light unfurling like a comet.

Below, Parker Industries' armored divisions activated: Patriot walkers strode out from their deployment trucks, sleek and angular, weapons cycling online. They formed a perimeter around lower Manhattan, shielding civilians as the first wave struck.

Peter's command interface flickered alive on his wrist display. "All units, Guardian Protocol Omega. Containment first, collateral zero. We hold this line."

He looked up and saw that I was already carving through the first dropship, light trailing behind me like starlight on steel.

And for the first time since the Cube had appeared, I felt Peter smile.

The world was burning, yes.

But it was burning under our watch.

And this time, we were ready.
