Helicarrier – Command Bridge

The hum of engines filled the air — steady, confident, colossal. The S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier cut through the clouds like a steel behemoth with wings, a leviathan held aloft by technology and trust.

On the main deck, Fury and Hill stood over a glowing tactical display. Across the world map, blips of energy pulsed — one in New York brighter than the rest.

"Selvig's signal is still pinging." Hill reported. "Whatever Loki's having him build at Stark Tower it's drawing power straight from the arc reactor."

Fury's jaw clenched. "So the Cube's not just waking up. It's building a door."

He turned just as Tony and Peter entered, followed by Bruce, Steve and Gwen.

"Director." Peter said, tone clipped. "I just ran the telemetry again. The Cube's harmonics are syncing with a controlled gamma spectrum. That's not random. Selvig's using Stark's clean energy grid as a stabilizer. That means Loki's trying to build a portal over New York, big enough for an army."

Fury's one eye flicked up. "How much time?"

Peter looked grim. "Hours. Maybe less."

Tony frowned. "And I don't remember giving the Norse god of mischief a construction permit."

Gwen crossed her arms. "Then we stop him before he turns your tower into a bridgehead."

Before Fury could reply, the deck shuddered. The floor bucked under their feet — not turbulence, not weather.

An explosion tore through the starboard side.

"Impact! Starboard engine!" Hill shouted.

"Report!" Fury barked.

"Arrow—!" A deck officer screamed. "We've been hit by an explosive tipped projectile!"

Outer Hull – Starboard Engine Bay

Smoke billowed as agents scattered for cover. From the shadows, Agent Clint Barton — eyes glowing faintly blue — moved with inhuman precision. His bow thrummed, loosing a volley of explosive-tipped arrows.

One pierced the turbine intake. Another hit the coolant conduit.

Barton moved like a ghost of purpose, unflinching, unstoppable.

Inside – Command Bridge

"Seal the decks!" Fury ordered. "Contain breach in sector twelve!"

Peter was already running, his wrist hologram unfolding a tactical grid. "He's targeting the engines. If another one goes down, this thing's a falling city!"

Gwen followed him, pulling her gauntlets into place while her Iron Spider Mk. II covered her body. Her eyes burning with focus. "Then we stop the fall."

Helicarrier – Engineering Deck

The corridor was chaos. Mind-controlled agents — eyes shimmering blue — flooded in, guns raised, faces expressionless.

Captain America ducked behind cover, deflecting a barrage with his shield. The clangs echoed like thunder.

"Multiple hostiles!" He shouted.

Bruce, crouched nearby, was visibly trembling — not from fear, but from restraint.

"Cap," Tony said through comms, voice crackling, "Engine Three's hit bad. If we don't restart it, we're losing altitude."

"Tell me what you need." Steve replied.

"Access to the fan core." Tony said. "But it's a deathtrap down there."

Steve looked over to Bruce, who was now breathing heavily, fists trembling.

"I'll handle the soldiers." Steve said quietly. "Doctor, you… might want to get angry."

Bruce's eyes flickered green.

"Oh," He muttered darkly, "I'm always angry."

The Hulk erupted outward, the transformation shaking the deck. The first wave of mind-controlled agents didn't stand a chance.

Bridge Corridor – Lower Decks

Gwen and Peter fought side by side through the narrow hallways. Gwen moved like lightning, her Uru gauntlets flashing with divine light, each strike knocking agents unconscious without killing them.

Peter used precise bursts of Nonlethal Paralyzer from his Dominator rendering the mind controlled agents unconscious.

"They're not themselves." He called. "Stun only!"

Gwen nodded, flipping over two attackers, landing beside him with grace. "Already on it!"

An explosion rocked the ceiling.

"Engine Three's down!" Tony's voice snapped through the comms. "I'm going in manually!"

Peter turned to Gwen. "Help Steve and Bruce keep the ship stable. I'll secure the upper decks and Loki."

She hesitated. "Don't do anything reckless."

He smirked. "That's your department, Spider."

Then he sprinted toward the containment wing in a blur of motion.

Containment Wing

Loki stood in the cell — calm, radiant in mockery. The glass shimmered with containment runes and energy fields.

Thor loomed outside, knuckles white around Mjolnir.

"Release him to me, Fury!" Thor demanded. "He is my brother — my responsibility!"

Fury stepped closer, his patience thin. "Your brother's a terrorist with a mind-control army. He stays put."

Loki smirked. "A cage built for monsters. Tell me, Director, what happens when the beast inside awakens?"

As if on cue, another explosion shook the ship. Lights flickered.

Fury snapped into his comm. "Hill, report!"

"Engine Three offline! Structural instability rising!"

Then the floor beneath them quaked — Loki smiled wider.

"Time to play."

He pressed a concealed trigger on his wrist. The containment locks disengaged with a mechanical hiss.

Thor lunged. "Loki, no—!"

The god of mischief blurred — a shimmer of light, an illusion. He struck Thor with a blast from the scepter, which he summoned back to his hand and rolled him into the open cell.

Before Thor could recover, Loki slammed his hand on the release control.

Fury cursed. "NO—!"

The cell dropped.

The reinforced glass cylinder plummeted out of the carrier's belly, falling miles toward the land below.

Thor's furious roar echoed until it was swallowed by the wind.

Helicarrier – Upper Decks

Peter reached the upper control platform just as Loki's illusion flickered into being again. The god smiled at him, mocking, his form half-shifting between shadow and reality.

"Ah, the man who builds stars." Loki purred. "How curious that your world adores a maker and not a god."

Peter's expression hardened. "You're not a god. Just a parasite with good lighting."

Loki sneered. "You will kneel, mortal."

"Not my thing." Peter raised the Dominator and a pulse of compressed electromagnetic beam hit Loki square in the chest, dispelling the illusion — it was only a projection.

The real Loki was gone.

Behind him, alarms blared — "ENGINE THREE CRITICAL."

Engine Bay – Exterior Hull

Tony streaked past in his armor, sparks trailing off his suit. "I need manual override!"

"On it!" Came Peter's voice through the comms. He was already deploying a swarm of stabilizer drones from his wrist launcher. They darted out like fireflies, latching onto damaged panels.

"Pressure equalizing," JARVIS reported. "Rotation restored at 60%."

Tony grunted, pushing his suit to maximum thrust. "Come on, baby, hold together—"

The turbines roared back to life.

Helicarrier – Observation Deck

Agent Coulson, armed with a prototype heavy plasma rifle, moved to intercept Loki. He found him near the control access corridor, smirking as if waiting.

"You're out of cards, sir." Coulson said.

Loki's grin widened. "So are you."

He flickered — appearing behind Coulson with a flash — and stabbed him clean through the chest.

The rifle fell — but before the killing blow could follow, a hand caught the scepter mid-swing.

Peter. He had finished up with helping to repair the turbine.

His eyes burned with fury as the nanites in his blood absorbed the impact. He kicked Loki backward through the glass barrier.

"You picked the wrong guy to stab, you son of a..."

Loki teleported away, laughing, leaving nothing but mirage behind.

Peter knelt by Coulson, stabilizing his vitals with his nanobots. "Stay with me, Phil. You're not dying today."

Coulson's eyes flickered open weakly. "Told you... I'd never bet against you."

"Yeah, well…" Peter smiled faintly. "Let's make sure you get to collect that bet."

He hit the emergency evac code. Medical drones lifted Coulson onto a gurney as Fury's voice boomed over comms:

"Containment breach sealed. Loki's escaped. Engines stable. Casualties… contained."

Peter looked out the shattered viewport. The clouds parted below.

Thor's cage was gone. Loki was free. But Agent Barton was recovered by Natasha.

The Tesseract pulsed faintly somewhere far below, calling.

And for the first time, the Avengers realized the war hadn't started yet.

It was only the first strike.
