Lewis and I had spent the whole day guessing how the people behind all of this would deal with Silas. We had even prepared a trap, thinking they might try to steal his body or silence him in some hidden way. We believed we were one step ahead.
We were wrong.
Instead of sneaking in, they reported us to the police.
If Silas was truly dead, the Hale family would be dragged into a legal storm. There would be investigations, lawsuits, endless questions. If he was still alive, the police would discover that too. Either way, we were being pushed into a corner.
Whoever was behind this was not just cruel. They were calculating.
The police cars pulled up without warning. The flashing lights outside the estate caught everyone off guard. Adam rushed back the moment he heard the news. When he saw officers standing at the entrance, his face turned red.
"What is going on? Why are the police at my house?" he shouted, his voice echoing in the hall.
