Chapter 10 - Double Murder (2)

Dragons are known to be territorial beings. The only thing they care about is their welath and only take care of those within its dragon breed clan. Due to a conflict over millenials ago between the Night, Sun, Flame; and Frost dragons, a division was further developed hence they never saw eye to eye.

The story was passed down over generations in each breed and the further the generations went, the more exagerrated the story got. Some said that the conflict took place because other breeds coveted its wealth; some blamed it on fake diplomacy talks by which the true intentions were to sabotage the territories in their posession.

Whichever story foretold over time, the one that did not change was that after all was said and done, the one who was accused of being too extreme thus being mutually hated by all; was the Frost dragon. Affecting the reputation of the future Frost clans.

"Forgive me for gathering you all on such short notice," Daria, queen of the Sun kingdom apologised after calling all the female royals to a room.

Breakfast for all had just been concluded and something knew had taken place.

"I jus received word that there has been a murder," she continued. Her graceful appearance made everyone look at her with complete reverence. Xenroth was the only one amongst all the noble women present, who did not wear a dress. Instead, she was wearing the female version of the men's clothing which included a pair of trousers.

A few whispers had travelled but Xenroth did not mind. "I prefer feeling comfortable and moving freely than to be superfial and suffocate while pleasing irrelevant people," she had said.

Gasps filled the large room with very few decorations but still appeared elegant.

"Why call the women alone?" Grenan, queen of the Flame kingdom asked.

"Because the victim was killed by the Yeruna (a snake ability user. The ability is only used by women.)" Daria said.

"So you suspect the user of the forbidden arts is amongst us?" Cheklan, princess of the Flame kingdom asked.

"Most likely. It's just taking precautions because one of us might also fall victim, forgetting the possibility of being the perpetrator," her gaze fell on Xenroth.

"What does that look suggest, Daria?" Neomal asked when she noticed the face Daria gave her daughter.

"It's only right to suspect everyone. But your daughter here is most suspicious," Daria replied.

"Xenroth hates snakes to the point that if she even smells its scent from afar, she develops a wild rash. Let alone controlling them," Neomal defended.

"Well, lets find out shall we," Daria said and advanced towards the quiet Xenroth who stood silently watching the drama.

Daria pulled the collar and noticed a wild red rash on Xenroth's neck. She immediately moved back.

"Yo...you..." Daria stammered.

*sigh* "The only thing I can tell you is that the Yeruna is dead," Xenroth simply said with a sigh that suggested they were all wasting her time and she had better places to be.

Everyone was shocked.

"How? It's not that simple to kill a Yeruna," Hasfen, princess of the Sun kingdom enquired.

"Easy. I came across iy after my morning stroll and it got on my nerves so I eliminated it. One thing though..." she respoded and started pondering on the memory, "I have a question."

"Ask ahead," Neomal said invitingly.

"Is it possible to control the Yeruna itself?"

"Why do you ask?" Grenan asked, confused, "As far as I know, the Yeruna usually act alone. They are self centered so they tend to carry out their misdeeds single handedly."

"Oh... Apparently this one had a master," Xenroth said with a smile, "Such a shame I killed it before it could redeem itself."

"You!..." Daria wanted to cuss at her. She was fuming. Xenroth had just eliminated their main culprit. The best lead if there really was a mastermind behind it all. A member of the elite centaurs had been killed and Xenroth showed no sign of remourse.

"My apologies your royal majesty," Xenroth said with a slight bow, "If I had known, I would still do the same thing. I cannot tolerate breathing the same air as those ...things."

Neomal headed towards her daughter and healed the rash that was stretching to her face.

"The funeral is being taken care of in the NML city centre. All are welcome to attend," Daria gave in with a sigh.
