Chapter 2 - Let's Start with a Cliché Scene (2)

"Kuheok!"

Instead of an answer, the bat-winged demon hammered me with punches. Typical. Of course, it would pick violence over conversation.

Blood that flew through the air and turned into needles continued to pierce my body. Each stab of the demon's skill made me scream out loud, shrieking in pain.

I wanted to put up a fight. But my arrows had already flown and shattered against the chunks of building on the floor. My energy also somehow couldn't come out at all.

[You were hit by the Blood Manipulation skill!]

[You have much lower strength.]

[The blood in your body starts to destabilize.]

Notification windows keep popping up.

You might have stupid questions like, "How can someone who transmigrated from Earth be that weak?"

Right, you can call me a very weak person.

Who says that everyone who transmigrates to the fantasy world can suddenly have a cheat to make them a strong person?!

Evidently, that was not the case with me.

Only a holographic notification window like that came out in front of me, without providing any benefit to me in real terms.

The concept of power in this world was called The Calling.

Anyone who had reached the age of eighteen could participate in the class awakening ceremony.

Those who underwent the class awakening ceremony would be assigned a class and sub-class according to their luck.

The main class is divided into two classes: Warrior and Magician.

However, from those two main classes come various sub-classes.

For example, Assassin, Beast Tamer, Summoner, Tank, and many others.

The classes and sub-classes that people get will determine their future direction.

There is one main requirement for one to participate in the class awakening ceremony: one must have a mana core first.

The problem lies in the fact that when my soul had transmigrated to this world, I entered the body of a noble whose mana core was already damaged.

Luckily, I met Noctyssa so that I could heal my mana core and join the class awakening ceremony. Although it was very late, I managed to get the Warrior class with the Archer sub-class.

'Am I going to die? If only I had met Noctyssa earlier...' My mind began to fantasize. 'I would have been able to heal my mana core faster, and be able to do more and better than what I've been doing so far.'

Pain was running through my body.

The continuous pain made me think that I'd rather be killed than continue to be tortured.

As time passed, the atmosphere in Ironhaven City became increasingly quiet.

The spirit of mankind that had been weak from the start had now completely disappeared along with their lives.

In this kind of situation, would it be strange if I expected a favor from a hero?

As if it had caught the expression on my face, the demon with bat wings began to smirk and said, "Are you hoping for a hero?"

'Yes, and no.'

My mouth was already too tired from the constant screaming, so I could only answer the demon inwardly.

Yes, I did hope for a hero to come, but I also knew that there would be no hero.

I already knew that the hero in this world had died along with his harem.

There was one fact that I hadn't told you yet.

This world was actually the same as the world in one of the novels I had read. The title of the novel was The Villain's Harem.

A medieval European fantasy world with a sword and magic theme, along with very strong RPG elements... that was a brief description of this world—The Villain's Harem world.

"Look who's in the sky!" The demon's index finger suddenly pointed at the sky. He seemed to be telling me to look up at the sky. "Is that the hero you expected to come save you, humans?!"

Above the sky, a dimensional portal suddenly appeared. From within the portal emerged a human figure.

The man who appeared had blond hair. He was about the same age as me, 28 years old. The robe he wore was bright white, as if he wanted to be the main highlight under the dark sky.

In every novel, there will definitely be a main character, whether single or multiple, but in this novel world that I'm in, I know that there is only one main male protagonist.

Unmistakably, the person who came from the sky was the main character in this world, Simon Ruin.

[Name: Simon Ruin.]

A holographic board appeared above Simon's head, confirming that the person was the main character in this world.

'Shouldn't he be dead already?'

In the novel I had read, Simon was supposed to be dead before the invasion of demons in this Ironhaven City happened.

'How is he still alive?'

Unlike the other harem fantasy novels I had read, where the main character managed to live happily with his harem kingdom, The Villain's Harem had a tragic ending.

As the title implied, The Villain's Harem... the final scene showed that the main character had killed his own harem.

During my journey in reading novels, there was a time when I really liked novels with the villain genre.

The novel with the title The Villain's Harem was one such novel, where the main character had the heart to kill anyone, including his own harem's people.

After emerging from inside the portal, Simon flew down to approach the demon with bat wings, who was still laughing at me.

"Looks like you managed to clear this area," Simon said to the demon with bat wings. "Looks like we can continue attacking the territory of the long-eared creatures in the Eldermere forest."

"You're right!" The demon nodded in agreement with Simon's words. "Let me finish this one human first."

The demon then approached me.

'Those two look like close friends.' I thought to myself. 'So, the ending in the novel isn't completely true?!'

I felt confused about what happened between them.

In the ending of The Villain's Harem, Simon ended up getting killed despite trying to change sides to the demons.

The way Simon chose to show his seriousness in betraying humanity was by beheading the women who continued to follow him like a flock of chicks.

There was evidence of Simon's actions if you think I was lying.

The evidence was carried by Simon himself in his hands.

The evidence was the severed human heads in his hands. Simon carried the heads by tying their hair together so that he could carry them in one hand.

Red blood was still dripping from their neatly cut necks.

As the demon crouched in front of my prone body, it seemed to notice my gaze, which was focused on the horde of heads in Simon's hands. "What kind of expression are you showing?!" The demon looked curious about the expression I was showing.

Naturally, humans would be terrified when they saw the severed human heads in Simon's hands.

Moreover, the expressions on the heads of the women from Simon's harem looked very gruesome.

You didn't read it wrong. They were the members of Simon's harem.

They were severed with their eyes wide open, as if they couldn't believe Simon's betrayal.

I should have widened my eyes until my eyeballs fell out, right?!

"Pfftt~" I let out a small, stifled laugh. I had to hold back my laughter because I would have vomited my guts out if I hadn't.

I wasn't laughing because something was funny.

I was only laughing because I knew that I was going to die.

The laugh I let out wasn't a happy laugh either... how should I put it?! The laugh I let out was a laugh of resignation to the situation?! Yeah, something like that.

When he heard me laugh, the demon furrowed its brows in annoyance. "Remember this. If you meet Noctyssa in the afterlife, you can say that Memphis is still alive, healthy, and happy. Keep that annoyed expression to yourself, Fufufufu~"

Ptoeey~

I sprayed blood from my mouth onto the face of the demon named Memphis.

'At least one of my attacks managed to hit him.'

Stab!

The reward I received for upsetting Memphis was a stab right into my chest, a sword stab made from my own blood.

Just before I closed my eyes and breathed my last, I saw that Simon was watching me.

"Do you recognize this human?" Memphis asked Simon curiously. "...Ah, I see."

Right after hearing Simon's explanation, I finally breathed my last.
