The atmosphere suddenly went silent before an uproar happened in an instant. People thought Alicia was going to lose, yet the fate
took around and made her the winner. She was dumbfounded and couldn't process
it until the referee helped her to stand up. After that, she came back to her sense before realizing that she won this round. When she looked at the place where Baston fell down, there was no trace of him. It was empty and she couldn't see that fat boy anymore.
"Ha… ha… ha… I thought she was going to lose, yet who knows she actually wins."
"Yes, that fat boy must be thinking it will be easy to eliminate her, but the goddess of fate shows the different outcome."
"Where is the fat boy? I want to see his face."
"I don't know. He's already gone. I can't see him anywhere."
"He probably becomes too embarrassed so he just quickly escapes from here."
The winner had all the glory while the loser was quickly forgotten. That was what happened to Baston as soon as he left the arena. Although several people wanted to see his ugly face, they soon quickly forgot about him and focused on the winner. Still,
there was no sadness over his face because he had another important matter to do. Since he had no business anymore regarding the magic competition, then he could focus himself on killing Levan from now on.
Despite what happened was too quick to comprehend, Baston convinced everyone that Alicia won by her own luck and ability. If not because he made himself lose deliberately, there was no way the noble girl could win. This deception might fool ordinary people, but certainly, it wouldn't be effective against few extraordinary people like Claire and Principal Viral. Although it would leave curiosity, he would deal with it later. He was also pretty sure they wouldn't cancel this match since people already chose the
reality they wanted. If somehow, they stood up for Baston, it would impact the noble's reputation here. While he was thinking what the next thing he should do, a student waited for him. He leaned on the wall with crossed hands.
"I watched the battle before. I have to say you actually can win; however, you give it to Alicia."
"Yes…" Baston replied randomly.
"Don't you want to win?"
"For what?"
"For the glory that people will bring to you…"
"It's useless since they already deem me as the bad guy."
"I see…" the boy nodded thoughtfully, "Whatever you do, people can only see the ugly things from you."
Baston didn't reply anymore and left the boy. Getting no response, the boy also shrugged his hands before going to the arena. Baston slowly remembered the mysterious boy from before. It was a noble student that came
from Anderson family. At first, the boy disliked him because he was from the poor class. It wasn't right to hang out with people like Baston for people like him. Despite such view, this Anderson slowly changed over. Right at the moment, he felt no hostility when he was talking with him before.
"I wonder how is he doing? I almost forgot about him before by the way…" he thought.
After getting together in Zeverius Academy, he never heard about Anderson again. Perhaps, his status was unlike Alicia so many people didn't notice him much. Anyway, it was good to hear the boy was doing alright. Baston never thought of him like his enemy since all of his understanding was brought by his noble stereotype. Once Anderson pondered more about it, he would
soon gain the enlightenment.
Baston slowly cleared his head. Right now, he needed to continue with the quest. He didn't go back to rest but headed toward Levan's company. As soon as he entered the perimeter, Levan's assistant noticed him from far before he went toward him. The man looked at Baston kindly before he said something.
"Baston, Sir Levan wanted to meet with you at his personal office. Please, come with me…"
"Alright…"
Today, the assistant thought he would delay calling this new talented wizard, but fortunately, he met him here. Rather than waiting until tomorrow, it was better to do it now. As for what was the matter, Baston was
kept blind with nothing to inform. The assistant led him and went to the luxury office just like yesterday. He knocked the door and told Levan before he informed
Baston that he needed to wait for a few minutes because Levan was still busy. The
fat boy nodded understandingly and sat on the chair.
The assistant said it was just a few minutes, yet Baston waited more until 30 minutes passed. Either this man named Levan was really busy or he just wanted to exert his authority, he didn't know for sure. Once he
got permission to enter, the assistant as always stood near the door. There was a purpose on doing this. Right at the moment, Baston was facing Levan before the man talked about something.
"Good to see you again, Baston. Actually, I want to postpone this matter for several days but unfortunately, it's too urgent so as soon as my assistant found you before, he quickly calls you to meet me directly."
"Then, Sir Levan. What is the matter you want to talk about?"
"It's like this…" Levan explained, "You know that wizard like you need more resources, right? After I scrutinize over for a few days, I
come into conclusion that since I don't have enough money, the resource and the salary you will get might not enough. I hope you can understand this…"
"Then, is there anything I can help you with my ability, Sir Levan? I know you already have more people to feed at the company. I can understand this since you can't just dismiss them. Those old and disabled
workers must stay in the company, right?"
Levan was surprised, but he quickly nodded, "Yes, you are right."
Levan might think what Baston said was a coincidence, but since the fat boy knew the information beforehand, he wanted to taunt him regarding the matter about the workers. Yesterday, both of Levan and the assistant discussed over dismissing several old and disabled workers so they could keep more money for their wallet. They did this because of their greedy behavior, but surely, they would tell the workers that the true reason they did this was because Baston joined them and they must pay much for his resources.
Not only Levan lied to his workers, he also lied to Baston regarding the resources now. What the man told him was entirely different from what he heard before. It seemed just by lying like this, Levan wanted to pursue more without increasing his own responsibility. He would pay less for the workers and Baston so that he could enjoy more in his lifetime. This man sure was evil and Baston thought he would just need to stop acting in front of him.
"I really can't part with those old dan disabled workers. Once they lost the job, their lives will be then finished. Well, it's not right to discuss their matters with you…" Levan lied over his teeth, noticing the subject of their conversation changed.
"Sir Levan, I actually have an idea to solve all of this problem."
"Oh, what is it?"
"Once you die, all their problems will soon disappear…"
"What?" Levan and the assistant were dumbfounded, thinking that Baston probably misspelled his words.
Without giving any time, 4 puppets suddenly manifested nearby Baston. The puppets took their faces and outfits like hidden guards. Each two of them quickly apprehended Levan and the assistant. Both of them were pinned to the ground, straining their movement. As soon as their senses came back, they wanted to scream but the puppets held them back.
"What are you doing? Do you want to rebel? After all the opportunity I gave you, you dare to kill your benefactor!" Levan gnashed his
teeth.
"Such ungrateful boy! No wonder you are from the poor class! The god wants you to suffer for a lifetime!" the assistant also added.
"Let's us go to the main point so we don't have to waste the time," Baston took the main seat, "I know everything. Your company is just a disguise over what you have been doing for years. The money never come from your own effort, but by robbing from many people."
Levan was aghast, but he tried hard to calm down, "It's a lie. I don't know where your source of information, but I assure you I never do such despicable things."
"Like I said, it's best not to waste the time. Since I already know everything, today will be your judgment. Any reason you take out
is simply bullshit in my ears."
From the old book, Baston had already got the clue and he believed it completely. The matter of Levan already gone long enough so it was the time to end this for good. Actually, he wondered when he had a chance to go to Levan's office again but unexpectedly, the man himself created this
opportunity. With the protection inside the room and the soundproof effect, it was the best place to kill without somebody noticed it.
"You! Do you think you can escape from here? Just after killing us, how can you explain to the public about what happen here? No one will believe you!" Levan tore down all his face.
"I got my own plan, so you don't have to worry about that."
"Who do you think you are, Baston? You are just the lowest person in this kingdom. How dare you kill the higher class than you?" the
assistant glared.
To this question, Baston simply rebuked, "Think about it again slowly. Do you think someone talented like me can pop out casually from the lowest class in this kingdom?"
"This… this…"
The answer to Baston's question actually was yes, but Levan and his assistant clearly didn't believe such strong junior wizard could just exist from poor person. Not to mention the absurdity, the fat boy could even casted his spell perfectly even though he should not be able to do it. A person like Baston needed much resources so clearly, such poor boy must not be able to bear the expense. Then, the only possibility was Baston disguised himself as poor person. Behind him, there must be a big noble family so he dared to play like this.
The thinking of a merchant like Levan was complicated which further amplified once he fell into hopeless end. Because he thought Baston had another important identity, he started to wail over his fate. Regardless,
whatever he said was useless since Baston determined to kill him. The puppet came out with knife and stabbed both of Levan and the assistant on their hearts. The pain and the adrenaline soon flooded in to their heads.
"No… No… I can't die like this… I want to become a noble…"
"Please, I don't want to die… Please… Help me…"
The two people soon fell before the atmosphere went silent. One thing that still shocked them was how could Baston got away from the magic contract? Not only he could pin them, he could also kill them with nothing happened over his life. Before they could utter nonsense and called for help, Baston decided to kill them swiftly. Opening the old book, he found out the result was
perfect and he finally got another puppet to control. It wasn't bad although he hoped to get excellent result in order to get new element or attribute to cast. Anyway, he could think it later since he had to tidy up the mess over this place.
There were 2 corpses in this room so Baston would have hard time if people asked about it. Although Levan was the bad guy here, but no one would believe him. Not to mention the good reputation, Levan always treated
everyone good enough in public. This thing made everyone hardly associated him to the evil criminal who robbed many families for his own wallet. Since no one wouldn't accept the truth, then Baston could only make deception over Levan. Preserving the reputation was a must because the fat boy would have a certain use on it.
"Now, I have to make a big drama over this…" Baston heaved a sigh of relief
