Chapter 1 - Early Beginings

His name was Jean. He was a small boy, in a small town, with little future. Dark clouds cover the sky and though we are early in the day the scene is thrown into an eerie darkness. We see him walking from school, tears in his eyes as he regrets being alive. He's speaking to his friend on the phone.

"How could you! I thought we were friends Jake! You can't go around telling random people who I've got a crush on!" Jean shouted in his phone.

The friend's response is muffled by the sudden caw of a crow. A toot interrupts Jean from his troubles momentarily and a cyclist zooms past him.

"Watch where you're going kid!" Yelled the man

An upset Jean tried to form a witty response, but by the time he could even utter a word the cyclist has gone too far ahead.

His friend, thinking Jean had decided to stop talking to him hung up.

Jean'd gotten pretty upset after this whole confrontation and instead of trying to speak to Jake decided to take a detour through the woods to get to his house.

Damn Jake, I know I don't have any chances with Mia, but that doesn't mean I can't have dreams of grandeur! he said to myself.

He kept coming back on these thoughts. He started to wonder if Jake really was his friend, and if not would he have to accept that he had no one he could count on?

The path he would normally take deeper into the forest had overgrown. Thorns and vines blocked a once clear path. The thick canopy of trees made the trek even harder. Eventually Jean got scared. He'd wished to turn back, but he'd gotten lost.

His breathing quickened, he started to panic. Maddeningly he started to thrash around the woods trying his hardest to find any way back. Like a trapped animal he struggled against the thorny vines which had started to make his hands bleed. For what seemed like hours to Jean he struggled against the forest.

The already dark skies darkened and his hopes of finding his way home were reduced to ashes. He fell from exhaustion onto a pile of branches.

As he awakened later he witnessed a faint glimmer of light further into the forest. Just so his hopes shot back up. Maybe he had reached a road or a home. This was his saving light and so he got back up and made his way towards the glimmer.

As he approached he felt a strange pressure. The trees seemed to grow older and bent and they swayed unnervingly in the wind. As though the forest was trying to tell him to stay away. His instincts told him to leave and yet his want to get back home overpowered them.

The glimmer turned into a clearing lit up by a beautiful full moon. The grass was blowing in a soft warm wind. The scene calmed his nerves, but didn't help him get back home. He was about to leave when a shadow emerged from the forest.

A beautiful naked woman stepped out of the woods. Her flowing black hair reaching her waist, her breasts as full as melons and a face carved out of marble.

Jean, however, did not take notice of her proportions and focused on what he could only call sharp claws instead of nails and her piercing hazel eyes, which were staring at him intently.

She flashed before Jean's eyes and appeared in front of him where he saw rows of sharp dagger like teeth coming straight for his head.

Whether out of instinct, or pure luck, Jean took a step back and fell down on his ass.

The creature also fell down onto him and bit him hard on his neck. He felt a strange liquid flow through his veins and saw the creature open its eyes wide in shock. It shot up and away from his body and made a mad dash into the woods.

Jean could feel a strange numbness coming from his neck and a deep cold took him. He reached for his neck and felt a torrent of blood flowing through the wound. Tears welled up in his eyes and he felt regret.

"DAMN YOU WORLD!! I can't believe I'm gonna die before I even got a chance to start living! God I never... even touched a woman, I don't wan..." He started to trail off there at the end.

His wounds being too much for him, he took his last breath and closed his eyes. His body laying at the entrance to a clearing that no one would likely find any time soon.

A few moments passed and the forest continued on. The wind passed on through and the silence of the night took back the scene.

He started to think about his life, his friend and his high school life. Thinking of all that he had done for his family, of the sacrifices he had to do for them. What would he say to his boss?

After wondering this for a while, he started to find it weird that he wasn't dying. He got back up and went to check himself. Then suddenly, he felt drowsy, more tired than he'd ever had been in his life. He fell unconscious on the ground.
