Chapter 61 - It was all a lie

Stephanie's POV

My eyes felt like they were made of lead. So heavy. It was a really tough fight I had to fight to get them open. The light was dim, coming from a fancy lamp on a table but it was bright enough to make my head pound.

I looked around and it didn't take long to know this wasn't my bed. And it wasn't my room either. The ceiling was way too high. The sheets felt too smooth and expensive. I tried to push myself up on my elbows and a fire of pain shot through my side. I gasped and fell right back onto the pillows, my head spinning.

And then the memories of what happened came flooding back. It was then I clearly realized that I wasn't with Jolina. But how? I was with my son?

Just then, the door opened. Of course it was Cane. He walked in holding a glass of water. He didn't say a word. Just walked over to the bed, slid one arm behind my back, and helped me sit up, slow and careful. It was weird, him being gentle. It confused me more than if he'd yelled.
