Chapter 34 - Chapter 34: The Journey to the Land of Waves

The sun shone brightly over Konoha as Team 7 gathered at the village gates for their new mission. The excitement in the air was palpable, especially for Naruto, who had been eagerly anticipating a more challenging task. Standing next to him, Ryuga, Sasuke, and Sakura were equally focused, their eyes fixed on the road ahead.

Minato stood with them, giving last-minute instructions. "Remember, this mission is more dangerous than your previous ones. Stay alert and work as a team."

Naruto punched his fist into his palm. "We got this, Dad! Just wait and see!"

Minato smiled, though concern lingered in his eyes as he glanced at Ryuga. "Take care of each other."

As they turned to leave, a burly man with a straw hat and a bottle of sake slung over his shoulder approached them. "So, these are my escorts? Hmph, I hope you kids can keep up."

Kakashi greeted him with a nod. "Tazuna, right? We're ready when you are."

The group set off on their journey, the path taking them through lush forests and over gentle hills. Tazuna walked in the middle of the group, guarded by Naruto and Sasuke at the front, with Sakura and Ryuga at the rear. Kakashi kept a watchful eye on their surroundings, his senses finely tuned for any sign of danger.

"So, what kind of bridge are you building?" Naruto asked, trying to break the monotony of the trek.

Tazuna sighed. "It's a bridge that will connect the Land of Waves to the mainland. It's vital for our economy, but certain... individuals don't want to see it completed."

As they continued, a tension began to build in the air, an unspoken sense of impending danger that only seasoned ninjas like Kakashi could detect. It wasn't long before this tension manifested itself.

Without warning, two shinobi leaped from the shadows, their headbands marked with the symbol of the Hidden Mist. They attacked with swift, coordinated strikes, aiming to take out Tazuna.

"Stay back, Tazuna!" Kakashi ordered, stepping forward to engage the attackers. "Team 7, defend him!"

Naruto and Sasuke moved quickly, blocking the attackers' path, while Ryuga and Sakura stayed close to Tazuna, ensuring his safety. The battle was intense but brief. Kakashi's skill and the team's coordination quickly overwhelmed the two attackers.

Once the threat was neutralised, Kakashi turned to Tazuna, his expression serious. "These were not ordinary bandits. They were chunin from the Hidden Mist. You need to tell us the truth, Tazuna."

Tazuna hesitated, then sighed heavily. "Alright, I'll tell you everything."

As they took a short break, Tazuna explained the real reason he needed their help. "The bridge I'm building threatens the control of a man named Gato, a ruthless businessman who has been oppressing our land. He'll stop at nothing to see me dead and the bridge unfinished."

Naruto clenched his fists. "Why didn't you tell us this from the start?"

Tazuna looked ashamed. "I didn't think the village would send help if they knew the full extent of the danger. I'm sorry for deceiving you, but we desperately need this bridge."

Kakashi nodded, his expression softening slightly. "Alright, we'll see this mission through. But from now on, we need to be prepared for anything."

After several more days of travel, the group finally reached the Land of Waves. The air was thick with mist, and the once prosperous land now showed signs of decay and poverty, evidence of Gato's oppressive rule.

As they walked through the village, the sombre faces of the villagers reflected their struggles. Children played in the streets, their laughter tinged with a hint of desperation. The sight hardened the resolve of Team 7.

"This place... it's worse than I imagined," Sasuke muttered, his eyes scanning the surroundings.

"We'll help them," Ryuga said firmly. "We'll protect Tazuna and make sure his bridge is completed."

Kakashi led them to Tazuna's home, a modest house on the outskirts of the village. Tazuna's family greeted them warmly, offering food and rest. Despite their hospitality, an air of tension remained, as everyone knew the real battle was yet to come.

As the team settled in for the night, Kakashi gathered them for a final briefing. "Starting tomorrow, we need to be on high alert. Gato's men will likely try again to stop us. Remember your training and stay close to Tazuna."

Naruto, Ryuga, Sasuke, and Sakura nodded in unison, determination etched on their faces. They were ready to face whatever challenges awaited them in the Land of Waves, knowing that their teamwork and resolve would be their greatest assets in the days to come.
