The meeting room was silent with only King Darius and Alpha Theron sitting on their respective seats.
Darius glances at Theron Who looked dead as though the only hope of living he has been hanging on to has been snatched away from him. The light in his eyes was now lost. Now he was beginning to regret his actions.
"I'm sorry Theron, I know how precious your daughter is to you. Every child is precious to their parents and I know you have a hard time digesting this. But I had to do what I did for the sake of peace and safety. For this I would like you tonne the one to talk with the Vampire king and finalize the truce stating anything you want"
King Darius says.
He stares at the unmoving man. He had never seen Theron like this before. He didn't even move an inch or react to whatever he just said. But Darius knew he listened. King Darius sighs standing up to take his leave.
A lone tear rolls down his cheek. He never regretted what happened twenty years ago when he was at the verge of death but got saved. Ever since then he never had any attraction whatsoever to his wife. His head was full and middle headed with that one woman who saved him that dark night even though she knew what she would face.
The door opened and footsteps could be heard. A palm placed over Theron's shoulder. "I'm sorry Theron I should have never brought up the idea of a truce if only I knew this is where it would end up with your beloved daughter being far away from you and out of your reach" Damien says as he pats his dear friend's shoulder comfortingly.
Like Theron Damien wasn't spared from that dark night but his situation was more approachable than his. Damien could be nursed back to health. The only way he could be saved was a way no woman would want to try out with a man whom she knows nothing about. But that woman was kind enough to do so in order to save his life.
"How's Sarai doing?" Theron asks, breaking the silence.
Damien sighs "she'll get better over time. She's too attached to the princess. By the way, the scorn of all the Lunas affects her in no way. She's used to it and as you know my wife is a peculiar being" Damien mused "She's way more peculiar than a wolf that's why I'm not bothered but watch them make a fool of themselves". Damien chuckles.
Theron sighs "I Let her down Damien. Just look at how I paid her back for saving my life. I let them take away her daughter to a place unknown" Theron laments shaking his head.
"There are things beyond what we can do and our capability. You tried Theron but this is just above you. It's not your fault and I know she'll understand you. We just have to hope that your daughter doesn't hate you for this".Damien says, patting Theron's shoulder.
Theron hums "I'm worried, though, about the curse. I'll have to tell the Vampire king about it then it will be in him to accept or decline. No man will ever want a wife that can't love him back. He might accept it for political reasons but what about my daughter will she be happy with knowing her father was helpless and gave her away".
There are a lot to think about will she be treated well and properly be accepted as their Queen unlike this very pack who treated her with scorn.
Damien could see the plight of his friend, a father in distress, a man whose supposed wife has placed him in a hard place. But still he couldn't say all these things he only can say what will lift the burden from Theron's heart.
"You seem to forget that my wife was also cursed because she violated the laws of her kingdom and never gave birth. But then the curse is broken, having two teenage pups who seem to never stop making trouble and being deadly mischievous . All curses can be broken and she can also break hers".
"but there'll be danger of an impending doom lurking over her head once she does so" Theron whispers.
Damien sighs and he hears Theron speaks again.
"you're wife she is a special being are your pups showing signs of her lineage?".
Damien shakes his head "so far it's only their wolf we've seen but I doubt they are dormant on that part. By the way, any news about her? Did you manage to get a trail on her or where she comes from?"
Theron shakes his head dejectedly. "You still have a wife Theron and three kids aside Ash, everything should be fine". Damien says. Although he has a wife, she doesn't feel like one anymore. He could no longer feel the mate pull towards her or it's just him not wanting to as he felt dead inside ever since she made that wish of compromise refusing to let him see his daughter. At that time Mireah, the third princess, was still a newborn.
Theron sighs "Sarai needs you more Damien. Why don't you stay by her side in comfort while I head to my study to finish some documents and prepare to meet the Vampire king". Giving his friend one last pat on his shoulders Damien leaves the meeting room.
