Some time later, at the funeral.
The sky, unseasonably, drizzled, and the sound of raindrops was like a long, mournful dirge.
In the mourning hall, those who came to mourn Peggy Carter were all dressed in black, sitting upright and solemn. Family members in the front rows bowed their heads, weeping with sorrow on their faces, and occasional sobs could be heard.
Peggy Carter had no descendants, but she was not an only child; she had several siblings, and thus many nieces and nephews, some of whom were precocious enough to have grandchildren.
The forensic examination determined that Peggy Carter died of natural causes. After all, she was born before World War II, and her age was considered a ripe old age.
All the current Avengers, except Thor and Banner, were present. Thor was unaccustomed to such sorrowful scenes; Asgardians, even in death, preferred to go out with a bang. Banner, on the other hand, was still somewhat worried about himself and would not leave the Avengers Base unless absolutely necessary.
Eller, for once, wore a solemn black suit. He sat in a row with Hawkeye, Black Widow, and Tony. Nick Fury, being a junior to Peggy Carter, sat closer to the front.
The officiant, with his steady voice, read the eulogy. He pronounced every word heavily, as if he were one of the pallbearers for Peggy Carter.
Captain America, an Avenger, was among the four pallbearers. Accompanying him were Peggy Carter's young nephew, an old man who looked like he would become President in the future, and Eller's friend, Steve Rogers.
After resolving the issue of his intimidating appearance, Steve went to see Peggy Carter one last time.
Although he couldn't finish the last dance with his partner, he could at least see her off on her final journey.
"Margaret Peggy Carter once risked her life for America. She gave almost everything for World peace, but to me, she was just my Aunt Peggy. She once stood shoulder to shoulder with the President, which made us, as her juniors, feel cool, but it also brought us immense pressure..."
The speaker was Peggy Carter's niece, Sharon Carter. She had long, silky blonde hair and a bright, generous appearance. Like her aunt, Sharon was also a S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent, but she would not mention this in public.
The funeral ended quickly, and the guests, having seen Peggy Carter off on her final journey, left the scene one after another.
Only a few remained. Eller took one last look at the white-haired old man who was a pallbearer for Peggy Carter, then withdrew his puzzled gaze and asked Tony:
"Are you familiar with Ms. Peggy?"
"That's a difficult question to answer. At least, I've known her since I was a child, although I didn't know she was with S.H.I.E.L.D. at the time," Tony said in a deep voice.
No matter how you look at it, Peggy Carter was someone who watched Tony grow up.
"My condolences, Tony." Eller gently patted Tony's shoulder. At this moment, he noticed three people talking.
They were Captain America, the skinny Steve, and the old man who looked like he would become the President of America in the future.
This scene made Eller feel a bit strange... But soon, Captain America bid farewell to the other two.
Steve also noticed Eller at this moment. He crooked a finger, signaling Eller to come over.
So, Eller walked over to Steve.
"Let's talk somewhere else," Steve said in a voice only the three of them could hear.
At this point, Eller, combining his memories, guessed the identity of the white-haired old man, but he didn't make a sound. Instead, he followed the two to a secluded corner.
Eller looked at the two in front of him and asked, "Alright, can I know what you want to say now, Steve?"
"As expected, you know me," the white-haired old man chuckled.
Seeing this, Steve also began to explain to Eller, "He is also Steve Rogers. You can think of him as me from another timeline. Things are a bit complicated..."
"I know about 'time travel.' He traveled back to the past and made up for that dance," Eller interrupted Steve. After all, he was a transmigrator and knew some secrets.
"You are indeed very special, Kamen Rider," the older Steve maintained a benevolent smile. "If my timeline had you, perhaps we wouldn't have suffered such heavy casualties when we first dealt with Thanos."
"You flatter me." Eller shook his head, modestly saying, "If I had no information now, I might not necessarily be able to defeat Thanos."
Hearing this, Steve was surprised. "Eller, you know Thanos? I thought you didn't know..."
"Too many things have changed in this timeline. The first assembly of the Avengers was supposed to be to deal with Loki, but here it turned into Thanos's daughter, whom I have never seen. I originally wanted to secretly help the Avengers, but now I have no tricks to tell you."
The older Steve sighed. As things stood, there was no need for him to stay. Soon, he would leave this timeline and return to where he belonged.
But before he left, the older Steve still wanted to leave something behind.
As he spoke, the older Steve took out two containers filled with red particles and a flash drive from his pocket.
"These are Pym Particles and the method to use them. If one day you find yourselves in a desperate situation, you can at least use a method like ours to search for hope. This timeline has changed too much; it won't hurt for me to add a little more."
Eller accepted this gift from the future. After this, the older Steve said:
"There's one more thing. I left something in a warehouse in New York. It might be useful to you. If you can't use it, you can give it to Tony."
The older Captain America's words were a bit cryptic, but Eller found them very useful.
This was like a clear-game player giving clear-game items and strategies to a newbie!
"I will not let you down," Eller said solemnly.
Hearing this, the older Steve from the future smiled slightly. He patted Eller's shoulder, then said, "I believe in you, Kamen Rider Geats."
After this, the older Steve bid farewell to the two and returned to his timeline to report.
Following the older Steve's clues, Eller and Steve arrived at a warehouse. Pushing open the spiderweb-covered door, the two saw dust-covered equipment.
Although the equipment looked like it hadn't been touched in a long time, it was still functioning, and the items stored inside were well-preserved.
"Are those a pair of shields?" Steve noticed the contents of the first container. The shields were small and exquisite, looking more like 'gauntlets' than shields.
Eller's attention wasn't on these shield-like gauntlets, because his attention was entirely focused on the silver liquid metal stored in the can-shaped container
