I can't sleep, my thoughts about the teacher keep me awake. Besides that, my sister's unwavering gaze also makes me uncomfortable.
I never know what she does when I'm asleep, or what she's thinking right now. She doesn't speak at all, and that's what makes me uneasy.
Her eye bags have been quite prominent from the start, and her droopy eyes have always been there. But after seeing her like this, I guess all of it is the result of sleep deprivation.
If only my voice could come out, I might try to speak. Writing in this position is very difficult, and besides, I'm too lazy to get it out of my bag.
Bestie behind me sounds busy, the slapping noise of her palms has been keeping me from closing my eyes.
On the other side, Beta is already fast asleep.
"Something's coming."
My sister suddenly stood up, she felt something moving.
"Yes, it's about to start. I can feel many footsteps moving."
My sister asked me to get on her back, while Bestie immediately hoisted Beta up without waking her.
"They're coming... whoa, run... hahaha..."
She immediately ran.
"We have to go too, hold on tight."
My sister ran, catching up to Bestie.
I looked back, and behind me, I saw many red dots starting to emerge from behind the shadows of the forest.
The Monsters began to appear one by one, running in pursuit.
"Hahahaha, come on, hurry up, don't get caught."
I felt like my sister was struggling, running with all her might while carrying me.
In front, Bestie looked relaxed; she even slowed her pace occasionally just to mock my sister.
"What's wrong, old hag? Why are you so slow?... Ah... could it be because of your age?"
"Tch... this is annoying."
Huh, what is it? Why did we stop?
My sister turned around and four lightning spears appeared above my head.
Then, with the four lightning spears, my sister directed them toward the horde of monsters.
"Even four isn't enough, huh?"
"Forget it, there are too many of them."
Seeing that the four lightning spears didn't work, Bestie suggested running.
We continued our escape; their numbers made it impossible to face them. Trying a direct confrontation would be endless.
"Don't run in the middle of the forest, head to the main road, ugh... I feel sick."
Beta finally woke up.
"Alright, where's the main road?"
"Follow me."
My sister followed Bestie toward the main road.
"Watch out, be careful."
My sister and I were too focused; neither of us realized a Monster, or perhaps just a monkey, had fallen, but luckily Bestie was quick; she leaped and kicked it, sending it flying far away.
It might have been an overreaction if my sight wasn't deceiving me, that it was just a monkey.
The darkness of the forest limited our vision; it was hard to distinguish between monsters and ordinary animals.
"Let's continue, we're close."
Not far away, we saw a main road, wide enough for four horse-drawn carriages abreast.
"Left or right?"
"We'll take the left, the right goes to the institution."
From my sister's back, I looked behind and saw two hordes of monsters colliding in the middle of the road.
One from our side and the other horde from the forest across the way.
"Is this okay?"
"Yeah, this is the law of the jungle. Try putting me down for a moment, I feel nauseous."
"The law of the jungle? Then what about that? Is that still considered monsters fighting over territory?"
Bestie, my sister, and I saw something else.
"That's not a monster, that's a horse-drawn carriage."
I agreed with Beta, it wasn't a monster but a passing horse-drawn carriage. What I didn't agree with was letting it be surrounded by Monsters.
I tapped my sister's shoulder.
"What is it?"
I pointed toward the carriage.
"You want us to save them?"
I nodded.
"If I go, then who will protect you?"
"No problem, you have me, and that little dog will surely protect you."
Beta pointed to the small dog in my bag.
"Oh, can Fel fight?"
The three of us simultaneously looked toward the source of the voice: Bestie.
"Fel? Who is that?"
"That's Fel."
Bestie pointed to the little dog in my bag; she had already given it a name.
"Where did that name come from?"
"I made it up."
While they were talking like this, arguing about a name, I was thinking about the fate of the carriage.
I gripped my sister's shoulder.
"Alright, alright, I'll go there."
"Hoho... this is the second fight."
My sister took out her staff, forming a lightning whip using the staff as the handle.
"Yeah, and this won't be easy."
Bestie unsheathed the sword on her back and dashed first.
She immediately jumped and struck the monster crowd.
My sister, on the other hand, just walked, launching her lightning spears one by one from a distance.
Beta and I sat comfortably in the middle of the road. From this distance, I couldn't clearly see what was happening there.
I only saw a few monsters flying from the center of the crowd around the carriage.
Heavy footsteps could be heard coming from the forest to my left. Beta responded, "Wow, it's rare to see an earth dragon appear.
A wingless dragon, with a massive body and scales that looked very hard and glistened like metal, emerged from behindthe trees, knocking down trees just by walking forward.
It looked over here.
Beta, who was usually scared, seemed calm, observing Fel, the little dog in my bag. She seemed to know the earth dragon wouldn't do anything, as it actually headed toward the monster crowd.
I hoped my sister and Bestie wouldn't try to fight the earth dragon. But considering her nature, Bestie was definitely the most likely candidate to pick a fight with the earth dragon.
And sure enough, I saw her leap high, hitting the earth dragon's head with her sword. The clang of her sword even reached here.
