Chapter 3 - Can't Divorce

 Braelyn's pov

For better, for worse, till death do us part. That would be the biggest joke ever.

"I don't want an open marriage." I wanted to scream in rage but in the end, I whimpered.

He was still calm after all this. "It is the best choice."

 But that can't be..

I felt something crack inside me after he said those words. Did he really not love me anymore? Was it guilt or the feeling of being worthless that made me crumble? All I could manage to say was.

"I also want to carry my own baby." But it came out as a whisper, I doubt he heard it, or maybe he just ignored it and left.

"Raphael," I muttered, Did I mean nothing to him now?. Raphael was my word, and I couldn't lose.

I didn't know how long I stood there just staring at the wall. My marriage was falling apart right before me.

My hands clenched, I would not let that happen.

 ******

It sounded stupid but it was the last resort for me to know if I still had a place in his heart.

The entire day I was busy planning out everything to make it seem as romantic as ever. It has been ages since I did something like that for Raphael.

The lights were dim, and rose petals and scented candles flooded the house from the main entrance to the bedroom.

It looked perfect, and I also looked perfect in a red silk dress barely up to my knees that hugged all my curves perfectly. It was a present he got for me but I hadn't gotten the chance to wear it.

I was completely dolled up, even my makeup was exquisite, with a flimsy negligee I wore underneath just for tonight. Just for Raphael.

My eyes study the driveway from the window, waiting for his car until he finally arrives. I drew in a deep breath to calm my racing heart, then stood next to the door, waiting for it to click open, waiting for him.

The door clicked and it was pushed open. Raphael stepped in, and his footsteps slowed down once he saw me smiling sweetly at him.

"Lynn," he gasps, his eyes checking me out. A faint sense of victory bloomed in my chest.

My hand reached out for the zip at the back that slid open. The red dress fell, exposing my body just for him, is the most revealing red negligee ever.

He held his breath as I slowly approached him, my finger touched his chin then slowly trailed down his neck to his chest.

I felt his chaotic heartbeat under my palm until I grabbed his tie and pulled him closer for my lips to reach his ear.

"Welcome back home. I have a surprise for you." I whispered seductively.

He was in my grasp now. "Braelyn," he muttered my full name. He wanted to say something, but I had had enough of whatever he had to say. It didn't matter if he had someone out there; he was my husband and would be mine alone.

Our lips met, his lips were still as soft and seductive exactly how I remembered.

My bosoms pressed against his taut chest. He could feel my hard nipple, and as expected, Raphael went hard for me. Which I teased rubbing against his bulge.

My hand reached for his hair to deepen the kiss but something was wrong. Raphael wasn't kissing me back.

"Raphael what are you doing?!" I heard a shaky cry and it snapped him from whatever trance he was in. My husband shoved me off like I was the other woman.

I stumbled backwards and watched him panic, arranging his tie as he rushed towards Amelia.

"It's not what you think, Amelia." He eagerly explained to her. I didn't need someone to explain his ' best friend' was now his lover and what was I? The discarded barren wife.

"What is she doing here? What are you doing?" I asked him, my hand clenched, my voice shaking, threatening to break down again. Shame and embarrassment washed over me. Raphael glanced at me, his lips parted to explain but I already knew whatever crap he had to say.

Amelia whined, drawing attention back to her. Her eyes were glassy, making her seem fragile. "I thought you already explained everything to her before calling me over."

Raphael held her hand tenderly to placate her. "I already explained everything and she had agreed. "

I was dying inside. The man I loved was killing me with his actions.

"What did you explain to Raphael? I don't remember agreeing with anything." I barked, unable to stay silent again.

Raphael jolted, they were both stunned because it was the first time quiet Braelyn lost it, but what did they expect?

He held her waist possessively, pulling her close, and his eyes went firm. "It's the open marriage we agreed on. Amelia is now my girlfriend."

I have never seen Amelia look more smug than she did at that moment, eyeing me with a victorious look.

"Can you just stop that rubbish? I never agree on an open marriage and will never. It is either me or her." I barked completely, losing it, my chest was heaving.

What hurt me the most wasn't because he called her his girlfriend but the look in his eyes. Like I was some kind of fool like my emotions didn't matter. He was too calm, too collected. At least he should scream back at me, but they both stared at me like a barking dog.

Amelia laughed completely amused. "Listen to yourself, you want him to choose between an infertile woman and me. Do you know how stupid you sound?" She snickered enjoying the show.

"I wasn't talking to you but my husband." I spat still, waiting for Raphael to speak.

He sighed, "acting like the victim again. There is no picking happening here, it is simple: either you stay in this marriage by accepting Amelia, or you leave. The choice is up to you." He answered.

Why was the jerk so composed? Did he truly feel nothing for me?

My jaw clenched, and I grabbed my dress quickly, putting it on. "In that case, I'd rather be a divorcee." I declared holding on to the last piece of pride I had.

I was about to storm off I needed to get away from this madness from their stares, but his words stopped me before I walked through the door.

"I won't stop you from the divorce but remember your father's will. If we get divorced without fulfilling the will requirement, you will lose everything, Lynn. This open marriage is for your own good." His final words completely destroyed me. My teeth gritted, and I stormed out, slamming the door behind me.

' Dad's will ' I almost forgot the terms. The cold night breeze blew across my skin. My body was trembling, but I wasn't going to break down here.

I marched out, towards his car, which he had just brought back.

"Give me the darn keys," I demanded from the driver, snatching them from his hand.

"Ma'am you can't drive at this time." Before he could react, I was already in the car, my legs against the accelerator, and I sped off..

I kept on speeding and driving to where I didn't know. Everything started to replay in my mind. My teeth were gritted and my hand was clutching the wheel, but I refused to cry.

Not anymore for him. How did I miss the signs that his childhood bestie, whom he saw as a sister, was his lover all this time? Why did this have to happen to me?

After speeding for an eternity I eventually got tired. I stumbled into the bar, the baring music almost making me go deaf.

The dance floor seemed fun but what I needed was a private karaoke room. My footsteps were unstable like I was drunk when I wasn't.

The private room was on the next floor, and that was where I was heading.

Close to the stairs, someone grabbed my wrist. "Sorry about this." He said in a hurry.

A scream threatened to leave my lips but it never made its way out because it was sealed by his lips. My back was slammed against the cold wall, and his towering figure caged me
