Chapter 2 - The Unasked Question

## Chapter 5: The Unasked Questions

Sophia and I stood there, surrounded by books and silence. The air was thick with unspoken questions, but neither of us seemed willing to ask.

She broke the silence, her voice gentle. "What brings you to this bookstore?"

I shrugged, feeling a sense of comfort around her. "Just browsing. I like old books."

Sophia nodded, her eyes lighting up. "Me too. There's something about the smell of old paper..."

We talked about books, authors, and stories. The conversation flowed easily, like we'd known each other for years.

As we spoke, I found myself opening up, sharing parts of myself I'd kept hidden. Sophia listened intently, her eyes sparkling with interest.

But despite the connection, I couldn't shake the feeling that she was holding back too. There were secrets beneath her surface, just like mine.

As the bookstore's lights began to dim, signaling closing time, Sophia glanced at her watch. "I should go."

I walked her out, the city streets quieter now. As we stood outside, she turned to me. "It was nice talking to you... Just a guy."

I smiled, feeling a sense of connection. "You too, Sophia."

As she walked away, I called out, "Maybe I'll see you around?"

She turned back, a smile on her face. "I'd like that."
