Chapter 58 - Emily.

Today's the day—my first time greeting and taking care of the souls in the city. I'm so excited!

I've been practicing all year, and I wasn't going to mess this up. So, stepping out of my room, I quickly saw Sera; she was standing alone in some corner.

Slowly approaching her, I tapped her to get her attention.

"Heya, Sera, you okay?"

Sera turned to me slowly, and with a wide smile on her face said,

"I'm fine, Emily. I've just been taking care of Lord Stygian while he sleeps." She said this while patting something in her arms.

Looking down, I was quickly blinded by the most beautiful light—it was so bright, so beautiful.

I touched and rubbed his head; it felt so smooth and clean I didn't want to stop. I wanted to stay by his side forever and ever and ever and ever and ever.

But Sera quickly grabbed my hand, stopping me.

"Why don't you go out, Emily? Take care of the souls here in Heaven—it is your first day."

Snapping out of the daze, I looked down at Lord Stygian and reluctantly stopped petting him, then walked off toward the exit.

I remembered I was going to do something important... right—today's my first day taking care of the souls in Heaven.

After leaving the building, I began going from house to house to surprise the sad souls dealing with their problems.

After doing this for a while, I finally noticed that it was basically night already. I must have been so busy I didn't notice it was already evening.

After finishing up my work, I left the house of this nice old lady, and that's when I saw it—thousands of black tendrils going from house to house, stabbing themselves into the angels.

Their eyes began to glow brightly before they were quickly dropped on the floor.

I went back inside the house to hide, and before I could even find a proper hiding place, the shadowy tentacles began to enter through the windows.

Thinking quickly, I hid inside a closet and waited for them to leave. Then I saw the same old lady going down her stairs, and almost immediately, the tentacles attacked her.

I wanted to go out and save her, but I was too scared to move. I held my mouth, trying my best not to scream.

Once the tentacles did what they did, I slowly left the closet and checked on the poor old lady.

Thankfully, she was fine—only knocked out. Slowly, I checked outside and saw the tentacles disappearing, and I breathed a sigh of relief.

Hopefully, Sera and Lord Stygian are fine… especially Lord Stygian.
