"So that's how it is."
In a tone that sounded serious but remained calm, Evelyne looked at the blonde woman sitting across from her. She put down the lemon tea on the table, leaned back in her chair, and folded her arms across her chest.
"How much have you heard about our past, Victoria?"
The woman turned out to be her ex-husband's current fiancée. Victoria put down the cup of Americano coffee she had just been drinking. "A few things, which is why I wanted to talk to you about this."
Their eyes met, staring intently at each other with seriousness before Evelyne's blue eyes closed for a moment. She remembered that things hadn't always been like this.
