As I walked through the corridors of the Scarlet Institute, I could not help but observe the surroundings, it seemed that I was in a military academy, I heard in the distance a group of men who apparently were training.
"They must be the students of the Institute, there are always groups like that in all universities", I thought until I reached the classroom.
"In this Institute they apparently reward strength and ignore the weak. It's understandable, it's a world in chaos. In the end most of the aspiring hunters who don't graduate will live exploited or die in squalor; in those negative numbers I haven't counted the aspiring hunters who die on explorations and missions."
Once I had sat down in one of the seats at the end of the large classroom, I saw the clock on the blackboard, it was a 12 hour clock and according to the clock it was only 13 minutes before classes were to begin.
Apparently I had to attend Monday through Friday, every morning 1 hour of mandatory classes, 3 hours of electives.
"System what kind of quality is fear, can it only be used to wake up?", I asked, I had forgotten.
[Fear: upon reaching 10 points of fear, you can choose a profession and the fear will be adapted to the profession chosen by the host].
"It's a pity, I thought it could be useful if it was a kind of mana like that of the wizards", I thought, at the same time that I pondered how I could get fear points.
A few minutes later Professor Harold came in, he was a bald man, tanned skin, with a burn on his right ear, who was wearing a simple gray shirt and black pants.
He looked at me. I guess he was surprised to see me in the last seats of the room. A few minutes later the other students arrived.
-Hey, little worm, you're in my seat. Get out now. -I was threatened by a young man about six feet tall, a little stocky, with black hair, white skin and brown eyes, and average looking.
"This guy must be one of the insecure bastards," I thought as I saw him, two other guys behind him laughing.
-Moran, sit somewhere else, you're late. -The teacher exclaimed.
-You'll see when class is over, you little worm. -He threatened me.
Professor Harold began to talk about the statistics of the appearance of monsters and supernatural beings in the areas of rank D. He spoke of the importance of being updated on the information related to monsters and supernatural beings, especially those unusual, since those were the beings that caused more deaths in the areas of low rank.
When the class was over, I kept my wits about me, and when Moran approached me, I had already climbed into my chair, quickly jumped on him and bit off his ear.
Screams!
[You won +1]
[You won +1]
[You won +1]
I spat the ear towards the other two bastards accompanying Moran, and their faces did not hide their bewilderment.
[You won +1]
[You won +1]
In chaos is when you can provoke the most fear, I moved away from Moran who had brought his hand to his ear and I ran towards one of the other two guys accompanying Moran.
I didn't expect it to be easy, one of them rammed me and knocked me to the ground, but I pulled out my pen and stuck it several times in the thigh of the guy who knocked me to the ground.
[You won +1]
When chaos passes, senses and reason stabilize. The guy who rammed me started punching me non-stop, I covered my face with my forearms and received the punches and kicks of the other two until I was unconscious.

When I woke up I was all sore in the same classroom, it was true that this place was inhuman. In the end I provoked someone who had annoyed the original owner of my body. Not even in my past life, although I was somewhat temperamental, did I try to hit the weak, and only put those who provoked me in their place over and over again. "Come to think of it, maybe one of them poisoned me," I thought wryly, as I saw it illogical that someone healthy who went to sleep would wake up in another body.
My body hurt, most likely I had some fractures or worse.
"System, place three points in strength. Two points in health. And the remaining point in stamina."
[Strength: went up from 7 to 10.]
[Health: went up from 3.8 to 5.8]
[Stamina: raised from 3 to 4] [Endurance: raised from 3 to 4].
The moment the health went up, I felt my body recovered enough, to get up.
"System, I can tell that this is in hellish difficulty; this is the first time I've received a beating; I said about the hospital, but here they don't accept anyone who isn't in D rank in the infirmary."
Since I had already missed classes, I just walked through the halls and then lay down under the shade of a tree I found that was near the halls of the Institute.
"I think the place is counterproductive, supposedly this is the third safest city, I think in an unsafe city it would be grow or die, but I see it very difficult to grow here. Unless I kill someone, but after I do that I will be cast out in the most monster infested area, and so will this story come to an end."
Then I thought and thought, I stood up and walked to the student care center.
When I arrived, with my emaciated appearance due to the blows I attracted the attention of several students who looked at me with pity and contempt.
I preferred to ignore them, until I reached the reception desk where a woman with a tired face, glasses and dull brown hair asked me in a bitter voice:
-What do you want?
-I want to see the exchange applications.
The receptionist did not hesitate and handed me a folder ,and without letting me ask any more questions she announced:
-Next!
"Surely you must be fed up with your job or circumstances unknown to me, but jobs like that are the best an F-rank who manages to graduate as a hunter can aspire to."
After looking around, I made my way to some worn looking chairs, sat down and opened the folder.
"Wow, it must be a horror living in those cities. There are hundreds of applications from students from Colleges or Prep Centers that you want to relocate."
I looked at the applications and some even offered money, in the end only two subjects caught my attention. Since, money was something quite problematic if I changed places; the two subjects were in the fourth most dangerous and chaotic city, yes, it was the opposite. The two subjects were in Rodem city
Sigfreud, he was an aspirant who had awakened as a mage and in his record had killed 5 companions, in the photo could be seen, his hair was red as were his eyes, white skinned, somewhat handsome, in the photo he was wearing a red shirt, he was classified as an aspirant with a D+ rank, that is, he could soon become a C rank.
The other was Daysy Dirgen, a beautiful girl with purple hair and eyes of the same color, she had two juicy melons, she was wearing a white blouse in the photo, and her dream was practically an idealism, she wanted to become a firearms manufacturer for hunters, I found it curious, but I felt it would be nice to meet her, I would have given her the opportunity, but she was only a rank F. I don't think she would achieve anything in a place like this.
The important thing was what they offered:
SigFreud: he was subtly offering the head of a desired target. I had no enemies I hated to death, so I noted her second choice was a very beautiful obsidian colored dagger, which contained three cutting spells with her strongest spells.
Daysy was offering a revolver with a box of 100 rounds of what she had self-appointed terrifying D-range bullets, and direct deal with her when she became a renowned weapon maker.
"Not that they didn't offer money, they did too, but the amount was not exaggerated. Sigfreud offered 1500 black tokens; and Daysy offered 900 black tokens."
At the end of the day I wrote two letters and was honest with Daysy about what kind of place the Scarlet Institute was; and although I considered it unnecessary, I also informed Sigfreud, although he most likely could care less, he will surely kill anyone who bothers him during missions and explorations.
"Well, after getting beaten up for the first time, I too get the idea that this world is a nightmare, and therefore you have to devour your enemies in order to survive."
