Chapter 2 - Untwisted Fate

With that last encounter with the emperor, he never visited this place and I am surrounded with only Daisy who nurses me until I am now 5 years old apparently. There were other maids but Daisy is the only person who look out for me sincerely.

"Your highness… You should also go out and enjoy the view of flowers in the garden" Daisy said while brushing my hair but I am focused on the book of history of this empire. You know the phrase that knowledge is the key of survival.

"Flowers are pretty but what would I use them for? Information about this empire is much more important than mere flowers who are just beautiful" I replied coldly but she looks worried.

She should be happy that she nursed the most brilliant person in the empire.

She actually taught me how to write at the age of 3 years 6 months using colors and was shocked on my progress as I memorized the alphabet in just a month (they have a lot of alphabets and not to mention it is not easy as a, b, and c).

"But your highness… It is too early for you to read those kinds of books. You're only 4 years old and 8 months and can you even understand those?" she asked while she closed my book.

In times like this should I act cute?

"Daisy~ Celes wants to live as silent as ever in my room. I hate the sun" I replied while I widen my eyes acting like a puppy. Every time I do this she always give in.

"Ahh~ let's go… I know you will like it and walking to the gardens will help your mind at ease and it will keep you healthy" she said carrying me in her arms.

I wriggle around but she was holding me tightly so I gave up, I am still just a kid though and I don't have strength in my arms.

"Celes will put you in my hate list" I said being all grumpy.

Why do I need to act like a child? Not to mention I can just kill her right now but I am sparing her life because she is the only one who cared for me unlike those sneaky maids who steals, and treat me like a tramp.

Daisy slowly put me down and fixed my dress.

"We are here your highness" she said while she turns me around to see the wide view of a field full of lavenders and other flowers that are violet.

As soon as the wind blew, petals brushed through my cheeks and the fragrance of lavenders and other violet flowers is a delicate symphony that dances upon the breeze, captivating the senses with its enchanting aroma. It is a scent that whispers of tranquility and serenity, carrying with it the essence of a sunlit meadow in bloom.

At first inhale, it is as if you've stumbled upon a hidden garden, where the air is filled with the sweet perfume of lavender, mingling with the soft whispers of violet blossoms. The scent of lavender is fresh and herbaceous, with hints of sweetness that evoke images of rolling fields under the midday sun.

Now I know why she insists on making me come here. It is indeed true that it brings ease to my mind.

A faded memory appeared on my mind

"You like a field of flowers? Ma'am?" he asked, I can't clearly remember his face or it is rather blurry.

"You can say that. We should enjoy a little bit of leisure after ending someone's life" I told him while I picked a lot of flowers and made a bouquet.

"The weight of ending someone else's life is a burden too heavy for me to bear. All I can do is offer a bouquet to those people I killed. With this bouquet of flowers, I bestow what words cannot express, a fragile peace, and a silent plea for forgiveness. May they speak louder than the actions I cannot undo, and may their fragrance linger as a reminder of the fragile threads that bind us all." I told him a lesson where I learned all those dreadful years of my life. While looking at the sky, I raise it first as an offering then place it on the ground whispering "I'm sorry"

The memory ended

"Daisy… I think I will be out to stroll every morning" I said and smiled at her.

"That's more like it your highness. Try to smile more often, it's the best jewelry and makeup that you can wear" she said while she smiles from ear to ear.

We went back to the castle and I immediately went to the study room.

"Reading again your highness?" Daisy asked.

"Like I said Daisy… Information is the best weapon in war" I said and her expression is telling me what she exactly thinks. Her eyes were so wide and her pupils got smaller not to mention her jaw dropped.

"You are still five years old your highness, are you a one in a million genius in a century oh no wait I mean in a millennium?" she said covering her mouth in her mouth and now she is overreacting.

"Don't say such a thing Daisy… I was just reading and you are overreacting like that" I said while chuckling at her.

"Who is the first emperor of the Everhart empire and how did he obtain it?" she questioned

"In the annals of history, the first emperor of the Everhart Empire was known as Theodosius Everhart. His ascension to power was a tale shrouded in the mystique of pure magic and the legendary feat of taming a dragon. Legend has it that the great Theodosius Everhart was destined entwining with the enigmatic forces of magic. Gifted with an innate mastery of the arcane arts, Theodosius rose to prominence as a formidable sorcerer, wielding powers beyond mortal comprehension. With all of that he formed an alliance with the dragon and created an empire together." I replied on the spot and her eyes were twinkling as soon as she heard my answer.

"Then when was the end of the dragons?" she asked again.

"Dragons were gone over a millennium ago when 23 emperor Probus the tenacious broke the contract with a descendant of the dragon and it also ended with that line where the dragon sealed himself and other eggs. A seal where not even the emperor can break it" I replied and this time she fainted.

"Daisyyy!!! Daisy! What's wrong?!" I was shouting while I went to her and shake her nonstop.
