Iris:
He had brought it in a small white ring box, and I had to open it to touch it.
It was the first time I had ever seen it. My hands shook as I gently touched it. It felt soft, almost as if it would burst into water the moment it entered someone's mouth.
"Make sure he swallows it whole," Kash instructed. "I don't want him to waste it or spit the water out. You only have this one pearl."
I nodded, staring at it in my hand.
"Why didn't you get two?" my mother asked, her curiosity taking over.
Kash shoved his hands into his pockets and turned to her. I noticed the way he looked cautious around her.
"We can only get one at a time," he replied before looking back at me. "Go ahead. I want to know if it helps him."
I knew what he meant. If my son had a fit after taking it, then his body was reacting against it, and the pearl was not working.
