Davina's POV
I stood motionless as Irvin's vehicle vanished into the darkness, its gentle rumble dissolving into the quiet evening air.
The cool breeze brushed against my skin as I lingered there, pulling my arms tight around my body.
Perhaps asking him to drop me off this far from home wasn't the smartest choice?
I couldn't risk having any family member spot Irvin.
The roads lay empty now, filled only with distant cricket songs drifting through the stillness.
My footsteps rang out with each stride, heels tapping rhythmically on the concrete as I headed toward my destination.
This area had never been particularly secure, but honestly, when was it ever different? Living in a neighborhood like this meant danger was always lurking nearby. The type of threat that clung to you no matter how desperately you wanted to escape it.
When I turned the final corner, dread filled my stomach and I froze instantly.
