Chapter 236 - Anti-Skrull Device

The Worldmind didn't respond to Peter.

Richard, who was standing nearby, said, "It agreed. After I get out, it will give you the design for a small Anti-Skrull Device that's compatible with individuals."

"Okay," Peter nodded. "Are you coming out with me?"

Richard shook his head. "I still need to accept the Nova Force's determination here. It'll probably take another two days or so."

"Alright, then I'll head out first," Peter said, bidding Richard farewell and leaving.

Whoosh—

His spirit emerged from Richard and returned to his own body.

Peter then found a place to sit down.

He decided to wait there for Richard to wake up before doing anything else.

As for the information he'd gotten from Richard about the Skrulls, he hadn't told anyone else.

Because the Skrulls not only possessed the ability to shapeshift, but they could also copy memories! That is to say, aside from some unconscious micro-movements, they could achieve perfect replication! This reminded Peter of a mutant named "Mystique" he'd heard about in the Amazing Spider-Man world; their abilities were quite similar.

No, Mystique's abilities didn't seem to be as powerful as the Skrulls'.

After all, Mystique didn't seem to be able to copy memories.

And so, after two whole days, Richard finally woke up.

Because of Peter's prior warning, Richard woke up a little later than expected, but as soon as he woke up, he immediately controlled his energy fluctuations.

The extra time was for him to master this new energy.

After coming out, Richard followed Peter and left.

They arrived at Peter's private lab.

Richard then took out the design for the Anti-Skrull Device.

In fact, this was a device designed to target a special life wave frequency released by the Skrulls.

This small device was tiny, almost just a small plugin.

With the design, it was incredibly easy to make.

Some rare materials needed inside were also quickly obtained under Peter's energy.

That night, Peter finished the prototype.

He made several of them in one go, and put one on his transformation watch.

Then, he and Richard immediately returned to the Avengers base.

First, he used the device to approach the Skrull corpses that had been collected, ready to test its effects.

Unfortunately, it didn't work.

So, Peter and Richard had to split up, first checking around the Avengers base to see if there was any reaction.

According to the design, if a Skrull was within a certain distance, the device would sound an alarm, which Peter had connected to his suit's system.

So he could find them quickly as soon as he detected something.

Peter hadn't even finished a lap around the base when he heard the alarm.

The person triggering it was a logistics staff member.

The Avengers' base wasn't just home to a few Avengers. Whether the Avengers were actively on missions or not, the base had hundreds of full-time logistics personnel responsible for base maintenance, information processing, and distribution, among other things.

In addition, there were many field personnel handling tasks in various locations that didn't require the Avengers' direct involvement.

Some were also conducting investigations to determine whether the Avengers needed to be deployed.

With so many people around, Peter wasn't at all surprised to find a few Skrulls mixed in.

After silently noting this person, Peter continued his rounds.

After finishing his tour, Peter arrived at a high-end gym. Friday informed him that Tony Stark was working out there.

He and Richard found a total of four Skrulls in the Avengers base.

He planned to discuss with Stark whether to continue monitoring them, playing the long game, or to close the net immediately.

However, when Peter arrived at the gym and was about to push the door open, the small Anti-Skrull Device went off!

Peter's outstretched hand froze in mid-air, his heart pounding with shock: "Mr. Stark, is a Skrull?!!!"

Peter's mind raced.

Images of his past interactions with Stark flashed through his mind.

But no matter how he thought about it, he couldn't find any flaws.

Was it that he had hidden it too well, or... had he been a Skrull from the very beginning?

Peter originally wanted to turn and leave, seeking another solution.

But he suddenly thought of those Spider-Man experiences he had possessed. Many Spider-Men had fallen out with their friends because of misunderstandings.

Because of the lack of communication, conflicts arose between them, eventually leading to a disaster.

But in reality, if they had communicated well from the start, many things could have been avoided!

Thinking of this, Peter put his hand back on the door, took a deep breath, and pressed down.

"Identity verification successful, welcome, Mr. Parker."

Peter pushed the door open.

The scene before him made him pause slightly.

There were two people in this gym.

Besides Tony Stark, the other was "War Machine" Colonel Rhodes!

"Peter, why are you here? I heard Richard has already woken up, did you take him away?" Stark was doing bench presses, and after hearing the door open, he turned his gaze slightly to look at Peter and asked.

Peter said calmly, "Yes, Richard's body is perfectly normal. I just thought it wouldn't be good for him to keep lying there, so I'd rather take him back sooner. I can take him to eat something delicious to replenish his strength."

"That's good. Phew!" Stark breathed heavily.

Colonel Rhodes, who was standing to the side, hadn't done anything. He just looked a bit displeased after hearing Peter's explanation: "How could you just take him away? I mean, what if he has some after-effects? I think it's better to give him a thorough, detailed examination. After all, he's our future!"

Colonel Rhodes' words sounded a little strange, but there didn't seem to be anything wrong with them.

Peter's eyes narrowed slightly.

His intuition told him that Colonel Rhodes was up to something!

But he didn't immediately jump to a conclusion. Instead, he walked over, and with a single hand, easily pushed the bench press device that had been weighing Stark down all the way to the bottom.

"Tony, I'd like to get your opinion on some new armor designs. Is that okay?" Peter asked.

Stark nodded helplessly: "Aren't you working on a new type of nano-armor? What ideas do you have? Where's the problem?"

However, he still sat up.

He was very pleased that Peter could constantly develop his own things, and he had always given his full support.

Peter handed a towel to Stark.

After Stark wiped away his sweat, he said something to Colonel Rhodes and then left with Peter.

As they got further away, Peter had already made a decision about who the Skrulls were.
