Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: Deduction of the Special Class — [Valkyrie]!

Asura, Valkyrie, Apostle of Calamity...

These were the three special professions Sakeer had narrowed his options down to.

His initial plan was to aim for the [Apostle of Calamity].

Mare, a dark elf and human subspecies, had no racial class restrictions — only level-based class advancements. This meant the [Apostle of Calamity] profession likely had no race-related prerequisites.

Though Sakeer wasn't entirely clear on Mare's class structure, his "Genius" profession's flexibility provided enough room for trial and error. Even if he wasted one or two mid-tier classes, there was a fair chance he could still deduce the conditions required for [Apostle of Calamity].

The other two options were less straightforward.

The [Asura] profession, mastered by Cocytus, was especially elusive. From what Sakeer knew, there didn't seem to be any obvious link between Cocytus' class structure and the [Asura] profession itself.

Could it be tied to a unique item or special condition?

Then there was the [Valkyrie] class.

In both the anime and novel, only two characters possessed this profession: Shalltear and Nigredo.

Both were women.

This led Sakeer to suspect that [Valkyrie] might be a female-exclusive class.

Given this information, Sakeer had initially planned to focus on [Apostle of Calamity]. But now, with the unexpected appearance of the "Priestess" class — and its potential "female character BUFF" — his strategy shifted.

If I can exploit this BUFF... maybe I can unlock the [Valkyrie] profession instead.

"Shalltear [Valkyrie] is far better documented than Mare's [Apostle of Calamity]..."

Taking a deep breath, Sakeer knelt down, drew a line in the dirt with his finger, and began mapping out Shalltear's known class structure from memory.

Among Nazarick's guardians, Shalltear had some of the most detailed information available — second only to the Bone King himself.

Shalltear's Level Structure:

Race Level: Lv20Class Levels: Lv80Total Level: Lv100

Known Classes:

Valkyrie/Lancer (5Lv)Cursed Knight (5Lv)Priest (10Lv)

Additionally, the Overlord light novels mentioned two more professions:

Blood FrenzyCursed Mage

Sakeer was certain both were advanced classes.

Why was he so sure?

Because of their distinct characteristics:

Blood Frenzy came with an exclusive skill called "Blood Pool", which Shalltear used during her battle with the Bone King.Cursed Mage was said to trigger a berserk state whenever Shalltear came into contact with blood.

In the anime, this berserk episode occurred right after Shalltear's encounter with the adventurer team — her sudden frenzy wasn't explicitly explained but was undoubtedly tied to her Cursed Mage class.

In the Overlord game mechanics, classes with negative effects tended to be powerful but were deliberately designed with drawbacks to maintain balance.

Shalltear's Class Breakdown:

Valkyrie/Lancer (5Lv)Cursed Knight (5Lv)Priest (10Lv)Blood Frenzy (5Lv)Cursed Mage (5Lv)

These accounted for 25 levels — leaving 55 levels unaccounted for.

Still not enough to draw a clear conclusion...

But...

"I'm a science major!" Sakeer grinned, excitement building as if he were solving a puzzle game back in his previous life.

His fingers moved swiftly, drawing circles around key details in the dirt.

Step 1: Exclude the special [Valkyrie] profession for now — that was his target, not a clue.

Step 2: The Priest class was a basic profession — easy enough to acquire, so no need to focus on it for now.

That left three classes to consider:

Blood Frenzy — Sakeer knew too little about its requirements, so it was best to set it aside for now.Cursed KnightCursed Mage

These two advanced classes seemed more promising.

If they were independent professions... perhaps their prerequisites would reveal a path to unlocking [Valkyrie].

Sakeer's eyes sharpened as he stared at the circles he'd drawn in the dirt.

Following the logic of mathematical problem-solving, if you can't find the "known," you can always calculate it by counting the "unknowns."

Based on this idea, Sakeer began reconstructing Shalltear's class structure:

Basic Warrior Class (Unknown) — 15Lv

→ Intermediate Warrior Class (Unknown) — 10Lv

→ Cursed Knight — 5Lv

= 30Lv

Basic Caster Class (Unknown) — 15Lv

→ Intermediate Caster Class (Unknown) — 10Lv

→ Cursed Mage — 5Lv

= 30Lv

Combining these with Shalltear's remaining known classes:

60Lv + Valkyrie/Lancer (5Lv) + Blood Frenzy (5Lv) + Priest (10Lv) = 80Lv

Exactly 80 levels!

In that instant, Shalltear's class structure became clear.

The advanced class [Blood Frenzy] was a high-level class unique to vampires — that much was obvious.

But among all her classes, the one that stood out most was the basic class [Priest].

Curiously, the only other character known to possess the [Valkyrie] profession was Nigredo.

Unlike Shalltear, Nigredo's class structure was well-documented — and chaotic:

Warrior (10Lv)Berserker (10Lv)Master Warrior (10Lv)Low-Level Valkyrie/Omnipotent (5Lv)Weapon Specialist (7Lv)Rogue (Lv1)Assassin (5Lv)Executioner (10Lv)Priest (10Lv)High Priest (10Lv)Inquisitor (10Lv)

Eleven professions in total, adding up to 88 levels.

On paper, Nigredo had reached the top-tier strength of otherworldly beings. But looking at her chaotic class structure, Sakeer realized her potential was far from optimized.

Her scattered mix of warrior, rogue, and faith-based magic classes left her combat strength unfocused and inefficient.

More importantly, her [Low-Level Valkyrie] class appeared to be an incomplete version of the true [Valkyrie] profession.

This irregularity wasn't unusual. In this world, certain classes that required complex prerequisites in YGGDRASIL could sometimes be unlocked simply by learning key skills.

However, special professions were different — they demanded strict conditions to unlock.

Sakeer speculated that Nigredo had bypassed those conditions by leveraging some sort of innate ability. Yet, because she hadn't met the true requirements, what she gained was a downgraded version — a [Low-Level Valkyrie] instead of the real deal.

But now Sakeer had identified a crucial link — both Shalltear and Nigredo shared one common class: [Priest].

For Shalltear, this was especially unusual. As an undead vampire — a creature inherently opposed to divine power — holding a class like [Priest] was an anomaly.

Even stranger, Shalltear's [Priest] class wasn't even maxed out.

The only explanation?

There must be a hidden condition involved.

Sakeer's eyes lit up with excitement. His breathing quickened, and he clenched his fist, slamming his palm into the dirt.

"I've got you now, [Valkyrie]!"

YGGDRASIL was heavily inspired by Norse mythology.

In early myths, the "Valkyrie" concept didn't originally carry the noble image seen in modern retellings. Initially, they were known as "corpse-eaters" — grim figures linked to death and destruction. Only later did the legend shift, portraying Valkyries as sacred warrior maidens who chose the souls of the fallen.

That evolution explained the dual nature of the [Valkyrie] class — part divine healer, part ruthless warrior.

Entry Requirements for Valkyrie:

Female CharacterBasic Class: PriestAdvanced Class: Cursed Knight

The reason [Cursed Knight] was required instead of [Cursed Mage] was simple: [Valkyrie] was a warrior-specialized class, not a magic-focused one.

"Hah..."

Sakeer exhaled deeply, brushing the dust from his hands. With a quick stomp, he erased the english characters he had scrawled in the dirt.

Even though no one in this world could read it, it was always better to be cautious.

"The advanced class [Cursed Knight]…" Sakeer muttered to himself. "In YGGDRASIL, unlocking this class required not only reaching level 60 but also building a proper class structure."

"But here, in this world... skill mastery alone might be enough to bypass those requirements."

Sakeer placed his hands on his knees and stood up, brushing the dirt from his clothes.

"If my memory's right," he mused, "there's someone in the Baharuth Empire with the [Cursed Knight] profession."

Even if he wasn't yet certain about the full conditions for unlocking a special class, this gave him a lead — a clear path to follow.

For now, his priority was to level up. Once strong enough, he'd make his way to the Baharuth Empire and track down the [Cursed Knight].

Sakeer's thoughts settled, and his expression turned firm.

"The man in the Baharuth Empire isn't going anywhere."

His path was set.

First step: Power up.

Next step: Travel to the Baharuth Empire to secure the [Cursed Knight] class.

With a newfound determination, Sakeer turned and set off toward the Adventurer's Guild.
