Chapter 10 - #10Chapter 10: First time in the institute

As soon as the three of them approached, they pointed their guns at Ye Hao.

"Don't move, hands up."

It seemed they had mistaken Ye Hao for an Enemy Spies.

"Put down your guns, this isn't an Enemy Spies," Uncle Sun quickly shouted, afraid that Ye Hao would be shot if he was a moment late.

"The real Enemy Spies are over there," he said, pointing his gun at the man in black on the ground.

"We were able to catch this Enemy Spies today thanks to Ye Hao." With that, he explained the whole situation to everyone.

When these few people heard what had happened, they immediately felt a little embarrassed; they had actually pointed their guns at this little hero who had caught the Enemy Spies. Ye Hao saw their discomfort and said with a smile, "It's fine, special times call for special measures, it's understandable."

"Handcuff this person. The three of you carry him to the station. Xiao Hao, you come back too to give a statement." With that, Uncle Sun led everyone back.

"Uncle Sun, your injury... why don't you go to the hospital first to get it treated?" Ye Hao was a little worried about Uncle Sun's injury.

"It's nothing. Let's go back to the station first, take these Enemy Spies back, and then I'll deal with the injury."

"Boss, you're injured. Why don't you go to the hospital first? We'll take this person back, and you go get your injuries treated." The other public security officers also advised.

"It's just a minor injury, it's nothing. It's far from what it's like on the battlefield. Alright, let's go back to the station first." With that, Uncle Sun walked back to the station without looking back.

Everyone looked at each other, knowing their boss's temper; once he made up his mind, ten oxen couldn't pull him back. They said nothing more, carrying the man in black and following Uncle Sun back.

Upon returning to the station, they first locked the man in black in the interrogation room. In those days, they didn't even check the prisoner's injuries first; they just directly locked him in the interrogation room.

Ye Hao was led into an office, where a young public security officer took his statement. Ye Hao honestly recounted everything except for the space spring water.

Tonight involved both catching people and giving statements, and it was almost dawn now. After finishing the statement and walking out of the office, Ye Hao saw Uncle Sun waiting outside.

"Xiao Hao, finished with your statement? Then go home now. Don't tell Aunt Wang about my injury when you get home. Just say I have something to do at the station and won't be back today," Uncle Sun instructed.

"Uncle Sun, your injury, paper can't cover fire, it definitely can't be kept secret."

"Keep it a secret for now, and I'll tell Aunt Wang when I get back."

"Okay, then I'll go home first. I'll help you keep it a secret today." This was all Ye Hao could do. As for using the space spring water to help Uncle Sun heal his injuries, Ye Hao just thought about it for a moment before shaking his head and dismissing the idea. The space spring water was his biggest secret, and Ye Hao didn't want anyone else to know about something so miraculous.

With that, Ye Hao walked home.

Watching Ye Hao go home, Uncle Sun looked at Ye Hao's back and muttered to himself, "Sigh, now I'll have my old lady worried again. The reason I retired from the army back then was because she worried about the dangers of being a soldier, threatening divorce and taking the child away. Now I'm injured again, it's tough."

Ye Hao didn't know what Uncle Sun was thinking, but his mood hadn't calmed down at all today. Having experienced so many things he had never imagined before, Ye Hao walked to the Four-sided Courtyard, recalling the day's events.

Arriving at the central courtyard, he found the light in Aunt Wang's room still on, probably meaning she hadn't slept all night.

Hearing movement, Aunt Wang immediately opened the door and came out. Seeing Ye Hao return, she quickly scrutinized him up and down, and upon finding he wasn't injured, her heart immediately relaxed by half.

"Xiao Hao, why are you back so late? What happened outside? Did you see your Uncle Sun?" A barrage of questions poured from Aunt Wang's mouth.

Ye Hao recounted his experiences from the night to Aunt Wang. When she heard that Ye Hao got lost, Aunt Wang laughed and patted Ye Hao's head, saying he was so old and could still get lost.

When she heard that Ye Hao encountered Enemy Spies, her heart tightened again. When she heard that Ye Hao punched the man in black, Aunt Wang was extremely worried, fearing that Ye Hao would get into trouble. When she learned that Ye Hao knocked out the man in black with one punch, Aunt Wang finally breathed a sigh of relief and said grumpily, "You're so capable, look at you, even going to catch Enemy Spies! Those people have guns, and they're ruthless. If you encounter something like this in the future, run first; your own safety is the most important." It was clear that Aunt Wang was still very worried about Ye Hao.

Upon learning that the man in black was injured by Uncle Sun, she quickly asked, "Is your Uncle Sun alright? Is he injured?"

Looking at Aunt Wang's worried expression, Ye Hao was conflicted. He wanted to say he was fine, but seeing Aunt Wang's expectant eyes, he couldn't bear to lie to her. If he said he was injured, he worried Aunt Wang would be even more worried.

After a moment of hesitation, Ye Hao decided to tell a white lie.

"Uncle Sun is fine. Uncle Sun is quite mighty. He caught up to the Enemy Spies and shot him, hitting the hand holding the gun. The Enemy Spies saw he couldn't hold the gun, and his soul nearly fled, he didn't even want the gun, turning around and running. Uncle Sun chased him fiercely, wanting to catch him alive. As the saying goes, 'brothers fight tigers, fathers and sons go to battle.' At this point, I saw Uncle Sun was so mighty, how could I be a coward? I saw the Enemy Spies run past me, I stood up, took three steps as two, and punched the Enemy Spies in the back of the heart. The Enemy Spies instantly fell to the ground because of me." Ye Hao had embellished this account like a stand-up comedy routine.

Aunt Wang finally relaxed after listening. Seeing that it was almost dawn, Ye Hao quickly said, "Aunt Wang, you haven't slept all night. You should go take a nap now. You still have to go to work today."

"Auntie isn't sleepy. Are you hungry? If you're hungry, Auntie will make you something to eat, and then you can go sleep for a while after eating."

"Aunt Wang, I'm not hungry. You go to sleep quickly, and I'll go nap too." With that, Ye Hao pushed Aunt Wang back into the room.

Aunt Wang saw she couldn't argue with Ye Hao and went back to sleep.

Ye Hao breathed a sigh of relief watching Aunt Wang go back to sleep, fearing that Aunt Wang might have noticed something amiss just now. After all, Ye Hao didn't want Aunt Wang to worry. Fortunately, Ye Hao's stand-up comedy routine temporarily smoothed things over.

Immediately, Ye Hao also returned to his room, lying down and falling asleep without even taking off his clothes.

The night's experience was quite thrilling, leaving Ye Hao mentally exhausted. Soon, snoring could be heard.

"Brother Hao, Brother Hao, wake up!" Ye Hao vaguely heard someone calling him.

Opening his eyes, he saw Sun Chaoshu by the bed, calling and shaking Ye Hao.

"Damn it, Sun Chaoshu, disturbing someone's good dream so early in the morning, don't you know that's very immoral?"

"Brother Hao, it's almost nine o'clock, is that still early? What did you do last night? Why aren't you awake yet?" Sun Chaoshu winked repeatedly.

"Go away, go away, what are you thinking? Your brother here went to catch Enemy Spies last night!" With that, Ye Hao turned over and got out of bed, put on his shoes, and walked out.

As he walked, he recounted his heroic deeds from last night to Sun Chaoshu again, in the style of a stand-up comedy.

He went to the faucet and began to wash up.

"Damn, Brother Hao, are you really as fierce as you say? Why didn't you call me to come along? Do you not consider me a brother?"

"Someone like you, I'm afraid you'd piss yourself if you met an Enemy Spies. And you want me to take you to catch Enemy Spies? Oh, right, has Aunt Wang gone to work yet? Aren't you going fishing? Tell Aunt Wang that we're going fishing."

"My mom already went to work. She left you some sweet potato porridge. Let's go fishing after you eat." With that, Sun Chaoshu walked towards the main house.

Ye Hao followed him in and found a bowl of sweet potato porridge on the table with barely any rice visible. He picked it up and started eating immediately. At this moment, Sun Chaoshu took out a plate from the pot, and there were two corn buns on the plate.

"These are corn buns my mom steamed this morning. We all ate, and she left two for you."

Ye Hao thanked him, then ate one corn bun in two or three bites. After devouring his meal, Ye Hao prepared to wash the dishes, but Sun Chaoshu impatiently said, "Leave them to wash later, let's go fishing first."

Ye Hao didn't listen to him. He picked up the bowl and plate and went to the outdoor faucet to wash them.

Once everything was tidied up, the two walked out. Sun Chaoshu somehow found a bucket and carried it, saying he wanted to fill it with fish today. Ye Hao didn't mind him and led the way towards the Hucheng River.
