"???"
When people are utterly speechless, they sometimes burst out laughing.
But Gabriel wasn't human—so she couldn't laugh.
The moment she pulled out fifty tons of gold from her chat group, her rented two-story apartment building collapsed instantly under the sheer weight.
Everything except her own room—first floor included, plus the neighboring units—was flattened.
Worst of all, her laptop, PS5, Switch, and phone were all buried beneath the rubble.
Gabriel herself was fine, of course—she was an angel, after all, and her physical resilience was more than sufficient. But as she stared at her untouched, still-sealed game cartridges and discs, she felt utterly devastated.
Right before her eyes, however, the golden blocks gleamed conspicuously.
Their dazzling brilliance compelled her to reach out and touch one.
It felt cool to the touch.
She picked up another—it was surprisingly heavy.
She even bit into it experimentally, leaving a slight dent in the gold.
"Could this… actually be real gold?"
Gabriel was utterly shocked.
She'd never seen this much money in her entire life!
[Lazy Angel: Shepherd, what just happened?! Are those things really gold?]
[Shepherd: Do you think I'd trick you with plastic?]
[Lazy Angel: It crushed my whole house!!!]
[Blizzard of Hell: Good thing I was prepared and only took out a little. Otherwise, my place probably wouldn't have held up either.]
[Blizzard of Hell: But seriously, where did all this gold even come from?]
[Old Mage: Did you rob a bank?]
[Shepherd: Remember at the end of the mission when I asked what you all wanted?]
[Lazy Angel: Ah! So you went and looted gold!]
[Shepherd: Well, it's the apocalypse anyway. Nobody's going to touch the gold sitting in underground vaults, so I brought some back to spend in my world.]
[Lazy Angel: How much did you bring back?]
[Shepherd: Not much—just about a thousand tons.]
[Lazy Angel: A thousand tons…]
[Wicked Woman: That's roughly equivalent to an entire nation's gold reserves! In USD, that's around 100 billion dollars—more than some countries' annual GDP.]
[Wicked Woman: Rosen, are you planning a coup or something?]
[Shepherd: Not really interested in that right now. Just wanted to live a bit more comfortably. Anyway, I've got to figure out how to convert this gold into cash.]
After leaving the chat, Rosen glanced at the remaining 700+ tons of gold stored in the group's inventory space.
If he converted it all into US dollars, it would easily fund a lifetime of luxury in this world—as long as he didn't go starting any businesses.
No matter how extravagantly he lived, he'd probably never manage to spend it all.
Just then, Rosen checked his phone.
Fourteen hours had passed in this world since he'd first been transported to the Apocalypse World.
But several days had already gone by in that other world.
Clearly, time flowed at different rates between the two dimensions.
His phone also showed several missed calls—
from Yotsuya Miko and Sakurajima Mai.
After vanishing for over ten hours with his phone unreachable, his two little followers were probably frantic—like ants on a hot pan.
Rather than calling them back individually, Rosen simply added both of them to a new group chat.
Almost instantly, messages popped up on the blank screen.
[Yotsuya Miko: Lord Rosen?]
[Sakurajima Mai: You finally showed up. I was wondering why your phone suddenly went dead.]
[Yotsuya Miko: Yeah! I was so worried I was about to go check your house myself!]
[Rosen: I had to travel somewhere urgent. If you've got anything to discuss, tell me in person. It's the weekend anyway—let's continue your training.]
[Yotsuya Miko: Great! I'll hop on the train right away and head to your place, Lord Rosen!]
[Rosen: No need. Just tell me where you are—I'll come pick you up.]
After they sent their locations, Rosen set off.
He was simply eager to test out the "Divine Swift Step" ability he'd won from a recent lottery draw.
As everyone knows, supernatural powers in comedy anime are usually absurdly overpowered.
And Gabriel's Fall was at least half a comedy series.
Though the anime never explicitly showcased angelic abilities, the fact that Gabriel could casually pull out a world-ending horn hinted at considerable power.
As for the Divine Swift Step... perhaps it failed every time simply because Gabriel had fallen from grace.
