Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: The Standing Queen Maeve and the Starlight Who Took the Initiative to Meet

"Ding!"

"Detected battle, dropped reward: Super Hearing (Homelander)"

"Ding!"

"Detected battle, dropped reward: Super Stamina (Queen Maeve)"

For the first time, Samuel felt the World was so noisy and chaotic.

The sound of bullet casings bouncing on the ground was like gongs and drums beating in his ears. The heartbeats of Homelander, Queen Maeve, and himself sounded like punctured balloons, popping and booming.

The gentle breeze, the bustling crowd, the flow of traffic — all sounds were clearly audible, received in their entirety.

It made him feel as if he were in a field of flowers, surrounded by flying bees, buzzing!

Adjusting his hearing to a normal level, Samuel glanced at the pale-faced Homelander, who dared not speak out of anger, smirked, reached out and pointed to his own eyes, then pointed at him —

I'll be watching you!

Homelander's face became even uglier. He opened his mouth, wanting to say something but hesitated. Samuel, however, nodded towards Queen Maeve and disappeared with a whoosh.

"Shit!" Homelander let out a sigh of relief but couldn't help but curse in a low voice in anger.

Queen Maeve glared at him. Homelander's performance in front of Samuel these two times had completely pulled him down from the altar in her heart.

Everything he could do, Samuel could do.

Even stronger!

Everything he couldn't do, Samuel could also do.

And more!

What could Homelander use to fight Samuel?

What goes around comes around. In the face of absolute strength, Homelander's performance was no different from others; he would also fear, he would also be afraid, and he would also lower his head!

"Don't think you can look down on me just because you've defected to him. You're not qualified for that. A bitch is always a bitch!" Feeling Queen Maeve's change in attitude towards him, Homelander angrily and viciously warned.

Queen Maeve silently looked behind him. Homelander's expression immediately stiffened. Did he come back again?

Turning his head, the space behind him was empty, there was no one.

Reacting, Homelander glared at Queen Maeve in anger.

"You actually dared to trick me!"

Queen Maeve was completely fearless, and with a mocking, cold smile, she said, "So what if I tricked you?"

Did Homelander dare to hit her?

He didn't dare!

Even when hitting a dog, you have to look at the Master.

Queen Maeve didn't care how Homelander saw her. After all, in this World, everyone was like a dog, no one could escape the various iron chains around their necks.

Whether it was Money, Work, or Life — different shackles had long made people lose their true free will.

Homelander was no exception; he also had the shackles of 'Superhero Persona' around his neck.

Perhaps, only the mysterious and powerful Samuel could possibly possess true free will!

...

Night.

Lights twinkling.

Deep in a secluded, dimly lit alley, behind an inconspicuous iron door was a magnificent nightclub.

Most of the customers in this nightclub were those sanctimonious superhuman heroes during the day.

This place could satisfy their dirty habits without worrying about paparazzi taking photos.

Almost all the male members of The Seven had been here!

At this moment, Samuel was sitting in a booth in the corner of the nightclub, drinking with the uncomfortable-looking Starlight, and smiling as he looked at the indescribable absurd scene around them.

"Why did you want to meet here? This place — this place is even more degenerate than hell! I can't believe those superheroes who are so bright and upright in front of the camera are actually so — so scumbags in private!"

Starlight felt that the air here was filled with a dirty and degenerate smell, making her feel nauseous when she breathed.

Samuel put his arm around Starlight's shoulder and motioned for her to look at a man not far away.

"Rubber Man Ezekiel, the one who preaches all over the country, advocating for 'praying for all homosexuals to disappear,' is now embracing two men."

"Disgusting hypocrite." Starlight glanced and quickly turned her head. She felt her eyes were dirty. "Let's change places."

Samuel shook his head, leaning back against the sofa: "What do you think a superhero is?"

"Protecting the weak, saving from disasters, bringing hope and Light to ordinary people!" Starlight said her answer without hesitation.

"Naive!"

Samuel sneered: "The superheroes in this World are just commodities for Vought Company to make Money and increase influence!"

"Don't rush to deny it. Most people become superheroes to make Money and become famous! Helping the weak and spreading Love and Peace are just part of the job of being a superhero."

"You are no exception."

"If you only wanted to help others, why would you want to join The Seven? Why did you take the initiative to ask me out? Don't tell me you don't know what this means!"

Starlight, whose fig leaf had been lifted, retorted with an uncomfortable expression: "Joining The Seven is my dream, and I can also help more people."

"Is that so?"

Samuel nonchalantly reached out and pointed at the two people who had just entered.

One of these two people was dressed ordinarily, with a shocked expression as if he was frightened by the absurdity here, while the other was wearing a black trench coat, had a big beard, and looked very calm.

"The thin and helpless one is named Hughie. Did you see the news that A-Train hit and killed a girl who ran into the middle of the road while pursuing a criminal?"

"His girlfriend!"

"She was on the side of the road at the time, not in the middle of the road. A-Train was high and hit her so hard that her flesh and blood were scattered everywhere."

"What's ridiculous is that Vought Company's lawyers found Hughie to sign a non-disclosure agreement and were willing to give him humanitarian compensation. Do you know how much? A mere forty-five thousand U.S. dollars!"

"Are you going to help him seek justice and uphold righteousness?"

Starlight opened her mouth, unable to speak.

"The other bearded man is named Billy, a former CIA Black Ops team member. His wife was Homelander's network administrator, but she was defiled by Homelander and disappeared."

"Do you want to go and help him seek justice and uphold righteousness?"

Starlight was speechless by the question, and after a long while, she whispered, "I, how do I know if what you're saying is true or false?"

"You are the one who needs the answer, not me!" Samuel got up and walked out.

Starlight was a step slow and quickly got up, wanting to catch up.

At this moment, a tiny person the size of a thumb suddenly darted out from the side, instantly growing to the size of a normal person, and blocked Starlight.

"Hey, beautiful, do you want to play with me?"

As soon as he finished speaking, Stretchy Man's arrogant expression suddenly froze. He looked down at his chest in disbelief, where a clear, bright, burning wound had pierced through.

"Thump!"

Lifeless, Stretchy Man fell to his knees and slowly collapsed at Starlight's feet.

Starlight stared blankly at Stretchy Man's corpse, screaming in terror.

The piercing Scream instantly drew everyone's attention. They saw the screaming Starlight, Stretchy Man lying on the ground with his body pierced through, and Samuel whose red eyes were slowly fading.

However, not a single person spoke, and not a single person came over to interfere!

The nightclub was silent for a few seconds, then quickly returned to its original noise. People continued to play and drink as if nothing had happened.
