Just as Ethan Black's gaze swept the area...
He caught sight of the lead Arbok using Poison Tail, striking Absol forcefully and sending him flying.
When Absol quickly got back up in the distance, his body was already covered in an unhealthy purple hue: he was clearly poisoned.
"Ssssss!"
The lead Arbok, seeing that Absol had been poisoned, let out an excited hiss and fired Acid directly at him.
"Sandslash, let's help out."
"Sshhaaa!"
Sandslash let out a deep growl and launched with Rapid Spin toward the Arbok, kicking up a cloud of sand as he advanced.
Just as the Acid attack was about to hit Absol, Sandslash's figure burst onto the battlefield with Rapid Spin, his claws glowing metallic white as they cut the venomous attack in half.
"Absol, drink this antidote quickly and rest. Leave the rest of the battle to me."
Ethan Black stepped beside Absol, handed him a bottle of antidote, and then turned back to the fight: Sandslash and the lead Arbok were now face to face.
"Abss..." Absol growled softly, also watching the battle.
"Ssssss!"
The lead Arbok, seeing Sandslash, glimmered momentarily in its eyes and then launched Poison Sting toward him.
"Sandslash, Swift!"
Sandslash responded by raising his paw and firing several star-shaped energy bursts. The attacks collided midway and canceled each other out.
"Come on, use Metal Claw!"
After the test exchange, Sandslash lunged forward with claws coated in metallic shine.
Seeing the charge, Arbok coiled quickly and, just as Sandslash approached, its tail glowed purple: another Poison Tail aimed forcefully at its opponent!
Boom!
In midair, Poison Tail collided with Metal Claw. A powerful shockwave spread, flattening the grass around them.
"Ssssss!"
During the struggle, Arbok's body began to glow with an intense purple light concentrated in its tail, increasing the power of its attack.
"What a terrifying poisonous energy..." Ethan Black squinted as he watched.
Fortunately, Sandslash was using Metal Claw, and Steel-type protection prevented him from being poisoned; otherwise, he would have ended up like Absol.
Boom!
Another crash, and both Pokémon retreated rapidly.
"Sandslash, Sand Attack!"
In the air, Sandslash raised his claws and sent a burst of sand toward the lead Arbok.
"Ssssss!"
Arbok reacted quickly, spitting a stream of corrosive liquid that turned into vapor, forming a purple mist around it.
"Sandslash, use Rapid Spin and Metal Claw!"
Sandslash became a red whirlwind, claws gleaming silver, leaving a silvery trail in the swirl.
Arbok, seeing the charge, coiled itself using Coil to boost attack, defense, and accuracy. Then it began spinning like a purple tornado, once again launching Poison Tail to meet the attack.
Boom!
This time, both attacks were powered to the maximum. The impact was so strong that the air vibrated.
In an instant, Sandslash's Metal Claw shattered the purple light surrounding Arbok's tail, and to Arbok's astonishment, struck it directly, sending it flying.
Boom!
The lead Arbok collided with a large tree and fell to the ground, powerless.
The battlefield fell silent. All the Pokémon watched in shock: this Arbok had been the undisputed ruler of the area for a long time... and now it had been taken down in a single blow by Sandslash.
"Abss..."
Absol looked at Sandslash in awe. It knew well the strength of the lead Arbok, as it was not their first encounter. Seeing Sandslash defeat such a reinforced enemy with a single explosive move left it impressed.
Its eyes gleamed, and after one last look at Sandslash, Absol watched Ethan Black thoughtfully.
"Ssssss!"
In the distance, the lead Arbok slowly got up. Its eyes glowed faintly red, staring fiercely at Sandslash. But instead of attacking, its belly began to glow with a snake-like pattern.
"Damn... that's Glare."
"Sandslash, Sand Attack! Don't look at the pattern!"
Ethan Black immediately recognized the move, exclusive to Ekans and Arbok in the first generation, capable of instilling fear and paralyzing the opponent.
Trusting Ethan Black completely, Sandslash raised sand to block its vision and shield itself while the cloud of sand was hurled over Arbok.
