"How is this possible!?"
"It's an Arbok!"
Seeing that purple figure, Jasper Reid's face turned extremely grim.
The Arbok looked like a huge purple cobra, with thin black stripes running along its body. Its mouth was full of venomous fangs, but the most striking feature was the pattern on its neck, which gave off a strange and sinister impression.
"Why would an Arbok appear in a Breeding Zone?"
At that moment, Ethan Black's face also became very serious. In his previous life, wild venomous snakes were already lethal creatures; not to mention these fierce versions from the Pokémon world!
And such a dangerous snake should never appear in a Breeding Zone. Besides, it wasn't a Pokémon suitable for breeding—if the staff saw it, they would capture it immediately.
"Sha!"
"Cac!"
As if they had sensed the Arbok's threat, Sandslash and Cacturne positioned themselves in front of Ethan Black, blocking his path and facing the venomous snake.
Ethan Black and Jasper Reid exchanged a glance and stepped back slightly. Although combat hadn't started yet, the Arbok's cold, calculating eyes sent chills down their spines.
Immediately, they released all their Pokémon for protection.
The Arbok looked curiously at Ethan Black and Jasper Reid, then slowly slithered toward the Raticate lying on the ground.
The Raticate was already severely injured, but seeing the Arbok approaching, it suddenly surged with a desperate impulse to survive. A white flash appeared behind it: it was trying to flee.
However, the Arbok seemed to have anticipated this move. With a stream of Acid shot from its mouth, it directly sprayed the escaping Raticate.
Szzzzz!
A corrosive sound rang out immediately, followed by a piercing screech. The Raticate rolled on the ground, trying to remove the acid.
But the Arbok showed no mercy. It fired another stream of Acid, bathing the writhing Raticate again.
Under that corrosive assault, the Raticate's movements gradually ceased until only a body in an advanced state of decay remained.
The Arbok, excited, flicked its tongue while watching the process, as if enjoying a spectacle.
Finally, when the victim was reduced to a mostly corroded corpse, the Arbok slowly approached and, as if it had found a gourmet treat, swallowed the enormous Raticate in a single bite, inflating its belly until it was completely rounded.
After swallowing its prey, the Arbok let out a satisfied belch. Then, it fixed its eyes on Ethan Black and Jasper Reid for a moment, and under their tense gaze, it slowly turned and slithered into the dense grass.
Ugh... ugh...
Not long after the Arbok left, Ethan Black and Jasper Reid looked at each other and ran to a nearby tree, where they began vomiting violently.
Both were barely eighteen. They had never witnessed such a bloody scene before, and their hearts couldn't handle it.
"Ugh..."
"What the hell is up with that Arbok?"
"Why did it suddenly appear in the Breeding Zone?"
Jasper Reid gagged again and, leaning against the tree, asked with difficulty.
"I don't know... but we have monitoring devices on us."
"I guess the staff will detect something unusual soon and come here."
Ethan Black took a deep breath and, surrounded by their Pokémon, sat down to rest in a clearing.
After encountering such a dangerous Arbok, they knew it wasn't wise to continue advancing. Besides, the sky was darkening, and it would be safer to wait for the staff to come looking for them.
However...
Half an hour passed and no one appeared.
"What's happening?"
"In theory, if the staff came mounted on their Pokémon, they shouldn't take this long."
Jasper Reid looked up at the sky with unease. The dimness was unsettling... so silent that not even a bird's song could be heard.
"I suspected it..."
"I think we're no longer in the Breeding Zone."
Ethan Black's face turned serious. He took out his phone and saw the screen full of static.
He had seen this before: in a Secret Kingdom, interference causes all electronic devices to stop working.
"Indeed, electronic devices are blocked."
"So... we're in a Secret Kingdom?"
"Impossible... when did we enter?"
Jasper Reid also checked his devices, and upon finding his phone useless, his expression changed drastically.
"I'm afraid we've entered a Secret Kingdom without realizing it..."
Ethan Black sighed. This was the third Secret Kingdom he had entered.
But unlike the previous ones, this time the entry had been silent, unnoticed by them.
"This must be the Arbok's hunting territory..."
Recalling the mocking look the Arbok had given them, a shiver ran down his spine.
"So what do we do?"
Jasper Reid began to get nervous, looking around.
"The sun is almost set. Let's find shelter."
"I'm sure that when the staff notices our disappearance, they'll come looking. We just have to wait calmly."
Ethan Black remained composed. Although the Arbok was terrifying, they had twelve Pokémon in total. As long as they were cautious, there shouldn't be any problems.
They quickly found a cave and ordered their Pokémon to secure the entrance, fortifying it.
Shhh... shhh...
But as night fell, noises began to echo through the forest, breaking the silence.
Inside the cave, Ethan Black and Jasper Reid listened to something moving outside.
"So they came after all?"
"Looks like we'll have to handle this ourselves."
With each sound, their hearts sank further. A sense of foreboding overtook them.
And so, their greatest fear was confirmed: that Secret Kingdom was surely an Arbok's nest, and inside, there were many more...
