Chapter 5 - Geodesic Core

Miguel watched his base go down, with a dark expression on his face. This is the second time he had to abandon his base, with no other option but to activate its self-destruct sequence.

The thing is, if his base is left undefended, the enemy might find something of value and probably use it against him. And knowing the world he had been transmigrated into, it is ruled by cybernetic and space era which means that, many people are into coding and programming, hacking and infiltration, artificial intelligence, virtual reality and augmented reality, cybernetic enhancements. So it is very difficult to guard against them, which stemmed from the fact that only the strongest would dominate

And this brings us to the point that Miguel would rather destroy his base than let his system be hacked into.

Miguel looked away as he moved into the spacecraft, not suppressing his internal rage.

Devin, who saw that dark cloud hovering around the boss, chuckled nervously. Sometimes, Miguel can act a bit irrational when pissed off to the extreme and today is probably not going to be an exemption.

Terrace, who had an ominous smile on his face, teased the boss a little.

"Boss, you've barely escaped with your life, why the cloud of gloom?"

If Miguel remembers correctly, Devin, Terrace and Jace are not just workers to him. The four of them started off as friends before Miguel's fame exploded exponentially due to him, creating what is widely known as Neo-eden hazard Network. This is actually one of the fastest network servers and the entire world had to depend more on it which meant… more money to Miguel's pocket.

He later started his faction and hired his three friends to run the empire for 10 years, making it what it is today. So no matter how these three addressed him, boss or Miguel, bro or dude, he never complained, maintaining that friendship bond that they had which led to Terrace teasing him relentlessly.

Miguel directly ignored the question that Terrace asked and said with a knowing expression on his face.

"The Trojans are quite daring and relentless. Why don't I give them a run down of what defeat tastes like."

Jace, who had been typing something away in his system, turned towards Miguel and muttered.

"What's the plan Jim-ge?"

Miguel walked straight to Jace. A light tap on his shoulders and he shifted slightly so that the man got access to his holographic monitor screen and he clicked on the blue electronic keyboard, hitting the spacebar once and a mysterious rock hovered in mid air.

Terrace stared at the image with wonder in his eyes and he smirked. "Isn't that the geodesic core?"

Devin's ears pricked up with a curious expression on his face. The four of them, gathered in one space as they stared at the mesmerising image of the geodesic core.

"You know why almost every human mechanism, both powerful spacecrafts, mechas or even warships is afraid of the Neon Avalanche?"

Miguel looked at their intrigued expression and he continued. "It is because of its terrifying ability to break down elements and molecular particles. The geodesic core is like an ancient rock, formed from many millennia of disintegration, so imagine if this core is incorporated in all of our technologies. It is likely for us to turn invincible overnight. We need to get our hands on that core."

Terrace sighed and turned his face slightly to the side and said. "The geodesic core was lost when the final Neon Avalanche touched the universe. It was lost somewhere humans nor their technology could not even trespass. How can we retrieve it? We would be torn to pieces just reaching 15 yards from the electro-magnetic pulse it emits."

Miguel sighed.

"I'll come up with something, let's go to the headquarters."
