Chapter 77 - Chapter 78 One Wave After Another

The armed helicopters roared overhead.

Searchlights illuminated Calvin Cemetery as if it were daytime.

Two sonic cannons mounted on armored vehicles on the ground and the armed helicopters with their Metal Storm weapons formed a pincer movement, completely surrounding Hawke.

The weapons in the hands of the Federation soldiers shone exceptionally brightly under the searchlights.

Hawke, standing under the searchlights, watched this scene and smiled.

He smiled broadly.

Just then, following a piercing sound from the armed helicopters overhead, General Ross's voice echoed throughout Calvin Cemetery.

"Hawk, you're surrounded."

General Thaddeus Ross, who had immediately mobilized troops to capture Hawke upon receiving the information, was currently in the command center of Quantico Military Base.

Looking at Hawke, who was projected onto the large screen and stood exposed under the searchlights, he said in a deep voice, "You are hereby formally arrested for allegedly endangering national security and forcibly entering a military base."

He was somewhat relieved.

He had originally planned to send a special operations team, but after learning of Hawke's whereabouts, he directly deployed a large force.

In short, this wasn't Manhattan, nor was it any city street; it was just a cemetery.

He hadn't faced any punishment even after destroying Manhattan, let alone a cemetery.

General Ross was determined to capture Hawke.

So there was no wasted words.

From Quantico Military Base, General Ross transmitted his voice over Calvin Cemetery in New York City via surveillance cameras.

"You have ten seconds to surrender!"

"Ready!"

"Buzz buzz buzz!"

As General Ross's words fell, the metal storm on the attack helicopter, aimed at Hawke, began to operate, capable of turning a person into a beehive in a second.

"Beep beep beep!"

The two sonic cannons mounted on the armored vehicle also entered the charging process under the operation of the two operators.

"Click click!"

At this command, the federal soldiers surrounding Hawke loaded their bullets and had rocket launchers on their shoulders, aiming at Hawke.

Following General Ross's voice, Hawke looked up, ignoring the blinding searchlights, and focused his gaze on the monitor below the helicopter.

His gaze fell on the monitor, his eyes seeming to pierce through the void, meeting General Ross's gaze in the command center of the Quantico military base.

The next second.

Hawke's lips curled up slightly, his voice not loud, but clearly transmitted through the monitor to the military base command center.

"Thadeus Ross!"

"I suddenly remembered."

"I almost forgot about you. Thank you for reminding me."

  "…"

General Ross's expression froze for a moment, but then he realized.

Why?

Hawk, who was just under the searchlight, had vanished.

"What…"

"Boom!"

"Ah!"

By the time Hawk was caught by the searchlight again, an armored vehicle equipped with a sonic cannon had been thrown into the air.

With the scream of the sonic cannon operator, the overturned armored vehicle crashed to the ground with a thud, instantly killing the operator.

A second armored vehicle followed immediately.

Before General Ross could react, the second armored vehicle had also been thrown into the air.

General Ross's eyes narrowed.

"Fire!"

"Buzz buzz buzz!"

The armed helicopter that had been hovering above the cemetery began to move, the operator inside the cockpit pressing his hands against the metal storm in front of him.

In an instant, the metal storm aimed at Hawk below and began to spew flames at full speed.

*Pfft pfft pfft!*

A dense hail of bullets rained down like a storm.

They pounded the ground, causing it to crack and sending dirt flying.

They struck tombstones, shattering them instantly, sending rubble flying.

They hit Federation soldiers sorry.

That's called collateral damage.

"Fire!"

"Fire!

  "

"Boom!"

A soldier, watching Hawke effortlessly send one of his comrades flying with a mere flick of his wrist, panicked and hastily fired his rocket launcher at Hawke.

The rocket, trailing a long tail, whooshed towards Hawke.

Hawke turned to look.

Boom!

The rocket struck Hawke squarely, sending sparks flying in all directions, igniting two unfortunate soldiers.

But that didn't matter.

"Success?"

Not only was the soldier who fired the rocket overjoyed, but even General Thaddeus Ross, watching from a distance, was secretly pleased.

But how could it be?

Before the soldier's jubilant expression could fade, Hawke, whose upper body was already ablaze, leaped out of the flames.

*Thud!*

The soldier felt a sharp pain in his chest and instinctively looked down.

What he saw...

Wow.

A hole the size of a fist.

"Shit!"

"Fire!"

"Buzz buzz buzz!"

The soldiers on the attack helicopter, witnessing the bloody scene vividly clear under the searchlight, instinctively gasped and quickly aimed their Metal Storm weapon at Hawk, whose upper body was ripping off his burning clothes.

Hawk looked up.

"Clang!Clang! Clang!"

Bullets from Metal Storm rained down on Hawk like a storm of needles.

Hawk didn't dodge.

A dense barrage of bullets struck Hawk's head, face, and bare, muscular upper body.

Sparks flew.

He was unharmed.

Seriously.

These bullets couldn't even penetrate Hulk's defenses, let alone Hawk, who had now absorbed gamma power.

Hawk took a deep breath, looked at the attack helicopter above him, and as the ground beneath his feet cracked, he shot into the sky like a cannonball.

The attack helicopter pilot, terrified, tried to get away.

Unfortunately it was too late.

Boom!

The moment Hawke shot through the attack helicopter like a cannonball, the helicopter beneath him, riddled with holes, exploded with a deafening roar and a fireball shooting into the sky.

The helicopter, now a fireball, crashed into the ground below, crushing numerous tombstones before finally coming to a stop under the force of the earth.

General Ross, far away at the Quantico operations command center, stared in disbelief at the completely distorted screen.

Those on the scene, witnessing this inhuman spectacle, were equally stunned.

The next second, the surviving soldiers, seeing a streak of light hurtling towards them, reacted instinctively, turning and running away.

But it was too late.

Killing one was the same as killing two, so killing fifty or more was the same.

It was simply a matter of numbers.

In the blink of an eye, the tide had turned.

The once-fierce Federation soldiers now resembled stray dogs, screaming and yelling, wishing they had more legs.

The federal soldiers tried to run towards the cemetery gate.

One soldier, hearing the dwindling screams behind him, looked at the gate so close he could barely move, a flicker of joy crossing his panicked face.

The next second, that joy froze—not just his expression, but his entire body.

The soldier looked down at the small, still-beating object on a large, bloodied hand.

Instinct told him, "This is my heart."

After that last thought, nothing more crossed his mind. His eyes closed, his body went limp, and he collapsed to the side with a thud.

When the first Spider-Man arrived at the cemetery, Peter, crouching on the wall, stared at the scene before him, utterly unable to believe his eyes.

The ground looked as if it had been plowed by a tractor.

Countless shattered tombstones.

Soldiers' corpses littered with mangled limbs.

And in the distance, a helicopter, its two halves still burning, flickering flames.

And not far away, two overturned armored vehicles.

The door of one of them was kicked open from the inside, and a soldier covered in blood struggled to crawl out.

The next second.

The soldier, who had just crawled out halfway, seemed to sense something and struggled to look up.

What he saw.

Hawk, shirtless, stood expressionless in front of him.

The soldier opened his mouth.

"I just..."

"Pfft!"

  "..."

Watching the soldier's head shatter like a watermelon, the spider spirit couldn't help but shudder.

When he came to his senses, Hawk, who had just been there, had disappeared.

Where did he go?

The spider spirit was slightly stunned, subconsciously looking around, then got up from the wall, shot out a spider silk, and swung over with a whoosh.

Thump!

Peter landed steadily, then looked at Hawk not far away, reaching out to stroke the photo on a tombstone in front of him.

Hawk's right hand stroked the photo of his sister on the tombstone in front of him, a fire already ignited in his heart.

Peter cautiously walked over.

"Hawk…"

"Peter."

Hawke withdrew his right hand, turned to Peter who had just spoken, and interrupted, "What would you do if someone tried to vandalize your Uncle Ben's tombstone?"

What?

Uncle Ben.

Peter answered almost without hesitation: "I would kill him."

The Peter before him wasn't the Amazing Spider-Man, nor the technologically advanced Spider-Man, but the original Spider-Man, the one who, after learning of his Uncle Ben's murder, went to great lengths to find the robber and kill him, without ever considering legal recourse.

This was also why he liked the original Peter Parker.

Not only was he as shy and reserved as him, but he was also as clear about right and wrong as him.

Hawke was unsurprised by Peter's answer and pointed to his sister Anya's tombstone: "This is my sister, Anya. What, are you going to stop me from taking revenge?"

Peter's eyes twitched.

Looking at Hawke, who was staring at him expressionlessly, but whose eyes held a burning rage, he didn't speak, but silently moved aside.

Hawke smiled slightly at this.

"Thank you."

"Need help…"

Peter opened his mouth, then fell silent as Hawke vanished from his sight before he could finish speaking.

Finally, the sirens blaring outside the cemetery snapped him back to reality.

"Shit!"

"Something terrible has happened."

Peter jolted awake.
