Chapter 60 - Chapter 60 A Gift from Anna

Gwen sat in her car opposite the cemetery gate, a worried look in her eyes as she gazed at the entrance.

She knew that Hawk's sister had died in the Hulk vs. Abomination battle in September 2009.

Gwen even guessed why Hawk was working so hard to become stronger.

Although Hawk could become stronger by punching every day, even killing Dr. Lizard with a single blow, his methods seemed somewhat unscientific.

But that didn't matter anymore.

What mattered was that guessing and Hawk confirming it himself were two different things.

But that was Abomination and Hulk.

Abomination was alright, he was already dead.

But Hulk?

Could Hawk defeat him? Also, Hulk seemed to have fought alongside those superheroes; if Hawk were to fight Hulk, those superheroes would probably stop him.

Could Hawk win?

Gwen was worried.

Yes.

She was worried about this, not anything else, such as persuading Hawk to abandon hatred, to embrace love and peace, and not hatred.

"Tch!

That was Hawke's only family member in this world who died.

If they really wanted to give up revenge, then why did the Federation retaliate after the 9/11 attacks in 2001?

Isn't it all about love and peace? Then why seek revenge?

Besides, if they truly valued love and peace, would the Federation be stirring up wars all over the world?"

Gwen scoffed inwardly and rolled her eyes.

She wasn't some naive sweetheart raised in a public school; she was a smart, shrewd girl who won scholarships from elementary school to private high school.

Just as Gwen was frowning in thought, a tall, beautiful woman with a delicate face and wearing sunglasses appeared at the cemetery entrance.

It was Anna.

However, unlike her smiling and chatting with Hawke just now, Anna's delicate face was cold and she walked with a powerful aura.

Behind her was a bodyguard in black with a golf bag slung over his shoulder.

Soon, accompanied by the roar of a bright red Porsche engine in the distance, Anna drove the sports car and disappeared from the road like a streak of light.

The bodyguard in black drove away from the cemetery in a black Chevrolet SUV.

A while later,Hawke appeared at the cemetery gate.

Gwen turned her gaze from the disappearing Chevrolet SUV in the rearview mirror, watched Hawke approaching with a carry-on suitcase, and got out of the car.

Hawke opened the trunk and put the suitcase inside.

Gwen looked at the suitcase, which seemed to sink slightly as soon as it was placed inside: "What's this?"

Hawke moved aside: "You can take a look."

Gwen glanced at Hawke, then reached out and opened the suitcase.

Instantly,Gwen's pupils dilated.

"Hiss!"

"Hmm."

Hawke looked at Gwen, who gasped, and said with a smile, "I felt the same way when I first saw it."

Gwen quickly closed the suitcase, then quickly looked around to make sure no one was there before looking at Hawke, blinking involuntarily.

"How did you get them?"

"By trading five weapons."

Hawke shrugged, then looked at Gwen, a slight smile playing on his lips. "You should know which five."

Gwen paused, then blinked again.

"I don't know what you're talking about."

"Gwen."

"Hmm?"

"My acting isn't great, but your method of putting things back in their place is terrible too."

  "..."

A photo of him and his sister Anya lay on the bedside table.

Under the bed were the weapons wrapped in sheets that clearly weren't his way of packing them.

If nothing unexpected happened, Gwen must have seen the weapons under the bed, and in her shock, forgot how he had packed them.

Gwen opened her mouth, suddenly feeling like she'd been caught red-handed.

Looking for someone in Karachi today

The next second.

"Bang!"

Gwen quickly pressed the trunk button, then said to Hawke with a serious expression, "The people from NYU are here, we need to get back to school right away."

Without even looking at Hawke, she turned and walked towards the driver's seat, though her earlobes turned slightly red as she did so.

It looked quite cute.

Hawke smiled slightly at Gwen, who seemed to be fleeing, but didn't say anything more. He opened the car door and got in.

Gwen then stepped on the gas and drove away.

On the way back to school, because she was thinking about being caught, Gwen deliberately kept a straight face, not looking at Hawke and not giving him any chance to speak.

In short, Gwen remained silent, only driving.

Hawke, sitting in the passenger seat, recalled Anna's words before leaving.

A gift?

What gift?

Soon, the journey from the cemetery to Midtown High School, which normally takes about forty-five minutes, was completed in just thirty minutes thanks to Gwen's exceptional performance today.

Gwen, who had just hung up on Mrs. Snow, quickly parked the car and said to Hawke, "The people from NYU are already in the office."

Hawke nodded and got out of the car.

Gwen, who had also gotten out, called out to Hawke and gave him a thumbs-up.

"Good luck, Hawke."

"Okay," Hawke replied and walked towards Mrs. Snow's office.

Gwen didn't follow him.

After all, this was an interview session at NYU, not Berkeley.

And these kinds of interview sessions are quite formal; it wouldn't be appropriate for an outsider to go in.

"Knock knock!"

"Come in."

"Mrs. Snow."

Hawke heard the voice from inside the office, pushed open the door, and glanced at a meticulously dressed middle-aged man sitting on the sofa before looking at Mrs. Snow:

"You wanted to see me?"

Mrs. Snow beckoned to Hawke, and after he closed the door, she introduced him to the middle-aged man who had stood up from the sofa.

"This is Mr. Gary Cooper, an admissions officer at New York University."

"Gary, this is Hawke, the one I told you about."

Hawke quickly extended his right hand.

"Mr. Cooper."

"Hawk."

Gary, the admissions officer from New York University, shook hands with Hawke, smiled, and then resumed his serious demeanor:

"I saw your scholarship application. I'm here today to ask you a few questions. Please have a seat."

Hawke nodded and sat down on the sofa opposite him.

Gary Cooper, who had just sat down, retrieved the notebook he had placed aside earlier and began the main event with Hawke.

Today was both an assessment and an interview.

If the assessment was satisfactory, the admissions officers, who had considerable autonomy, could announce the results in advance.

Of course, the prerequisite was that you were outstanding enough.

An hour later.

Gary Cooper closed his notebook, and under Mrs. Snow's somewhat expectant gaze, looked at Hawke, smiled, stood up, and extended his right hand to Hawke.

"Congratulations, Hawke, welcome to NYU."   "Wow! That's fantastic!"

Mrs. Snow gasped excitedly, covering her mouth.

Hawke was also taken aback, then quickly stood up and shook Gary's outstretched right hand.

"Thank you, Mr. Cooper."

"Thank my colleague Anna; she's the one who put your file in front of me."

 "..."
