Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Artificial Intelligence Red Queen

When the elevator doors slid open, Levi Wei and his companions found a busy Dr. Otto at work.

Coincidentally, a patient was there for a prosthetic limb fitting.

The patient, much like Professor Connors, had lost an arm and was now receiving a new sports-type prosthetic arm.

Currently, Future Technology Company is fully focused on advancing 'nanotechnology,' which, once perfected, will revolutionize various fields.

"Yes, that's right, try to control it and grasp the water cup," Dr. Otto encouraged the patient.

The patient, perspiring heavily, struggled to precisely grasp the cup without a Brain-Machine Interface.

"Bang!"

As expected, a slight miscalculation led to the cup being crushed.

"Oh, damn!" the patient exclaimed in frustration.

Living with a disability had made him impatient and irritable.

Dr. Otto, however, remained optimistic. "This is already very good. Once our technology develops, you will be like everyone else."

Current prosthetics lack precision, but other features are already advanced.

Despite his frustration, the patient opted to purchase the prosthetic and proceeded with the necessary paperwork.

After all, having an arm is better than not having one.

"Dr. Otto," Levi called out.

"Levi," Dr. Otto greeted warmly, embracing Levi.

Otto Gunther Octavius was an exceptional nuclear physicist specializing in atomic energy physics.

In his lab, assistants were a rare sight.

He preferred to work alone, confident in his abilities.

Originally collaborating with Norman Osborn, they parted ways, leading Levi to recruit him.

Notably, Otto's name is reminiscent of 'octopus,' earning him the moniker Dr. Octopus.

Sometimes Levi mused about his lineup of partners, from Professor Lizard to Dr. Octopus—he was set for life.

"How is your research coming along?" Levi inquired.

"Not bad. My mechanical tentacles can lift eight tons. Once they're easier to operate, I can begin researching nuclear reactors," Dr. Otto replied with a smile.

Prosthetic limbs were originally his project, but he was drawn to Levi's superior technology.

"Good, we want to make the world a better place," Levi responded, smiling.

Gwen Stacy watched the duo with admiration. Dr. Otto was a renowned scientist, as was Levi.

Being in the company of two geniuses made Gwen feel she could become a genius too.

For instance, now Levi said to Dr. Otto, "Otto, I have a new research project."

"What is it?" Dr. Otto's scientific curiosity piqued.

Rather than feeling overwhelmed, he was intrigued.

"A Brain-Machine Interface," Levi revealed, handing over a data disk.

Dr. Otto's eyes widened with excitement.

"Really?" He quickly seized the disk, loading it into the computer.

Soon, complex codes and research programs filled the screen.

Levi, the 'genius scientist,' couldn't decipher it, but he maintained an air of understanding, gazing intently at the monitor.

Dr. Otto and Gwen studied the screen.

"Gwen, do you understand this?" Levi asked, slightly exasperated.

"I understand a little," Gwen admitted. "Boss, you're truly a genius. How did you come up with this?"

"Uh, just a flash of genius inspiration," Levi shrugged.

Just then, Dr. Otto leapt up, ecstatic. "Levi, I want to start research on the Brain-Machine Interface immediately."

"The data is comprehensive; we just need to produce it as outlined."

"Great, then it's all yours," Levi nodded.

"With the Brain-Machine Interface, I can control mechanical arms as if they were my own," Dr. Otto enthused. "Those with prosthetic limbs will have full control; you're their savior."

The Brain-Machine Interface could transform prosthetic users into 'superhumans.'

Of course, this required a robust body.

Like V and Adam Smasher in the Cyberpunk World, they had minimal flesh but achieved mechanical ascension.

"Of course, you'll need to cooperate later; the company is planning a press conference," Levi said with a smile.

"Absolutely," Dr. Otto agreed. He knew Levi was not only a genius scientist but also a businessman.

Like Norman Osborn, any achievement was heavily publicized to generate revenue.

Compared to them, Dr. Otto was too pure.

But he didn't mind, as research required funding.

What scientific experiments can you conduct without money?

Afterward, Levi and his team departed. He asked Gwen to prepare for the press conference, then he and 2B headed elsewhere.

Holding a press conference for new products was a strategy Levi learned from other CEOs.

Only this way could 'Future Technology' maintain its popularity and solidify his persona as a genius scientist.

After all, in this world, everyone has a persona.

Levi did all this for reputation points!

The two walked to a discreet corner, and after Levi pressed his fingerprint, a hidden internal elevator appeared.

This was a secret known only to Levi; even Gwen, his 'personal assistant,' was unaware.

The true secrets of Future Technology Company lay here.

Levi and 2B entered, and a voice immediately greeted them: "Master, you haven't visited me in a while."

A hologram of a little girl appeared beside them.

2B observed curiously; this was not a mechanical body but artificial intelligence.

The little girl glowed red and had an adorably playful appearance.

"Red Queen, how is your learning progressing?" Levi asked as the elevator descended to the basement.

The vast space was filled with computers, all serving as the Red Queen's domain.

Red Queen was from the 'Resident Evil' movie version, an AI Levi was 'researching.'

It was a reward from a previous ten-consecutive draw...

If given a choice, Levi would have preferred the 'Mother's Domain' from the Stellar Blade World.

Mother's Domain was highly intelligent, even eliminating all humans...

Levi loved a challenge.

Of course, Red Queen was impressive too; she could learn autonomously.

Since her inception, she had been stationed in the company's basement, voraciously absorbing global knowledge.

"I have mastered general knowledge," Red Queen announced. "Master, can I hack into the Pentagon?"

"Uh... how about no?"

"Oops, I accidentally slipped in."
