Chapter 27 - He Doesn't Really Care, Does He?

Because of the commotion at the training field, once Igor left, Alisa took it upon herself to bring Yuki back to her room.

The room was silent as Alisa cleaned Yuki's wounds. The faint scent of antiseptic mingled with the herbal ointment she always used. Yuki held her breath every time the cotton touched her skin, but even then, she didn't shed a single tear.

That was what hurt Alisa most.

Pity welled up in her chest again, but alongside it came worry. Ever since Igor had stormed off earlier, Alisa couldn't stop thinking about her brother. Everyone under Ivan's command knew how much the man despised internal conflict. If word of what had happened reached him… Alisa had no idea how Ivan would react.

Now, her only hope rested with Yuki.

Biting her lip, she finally gathered the courage to speak.

"The wounds aren't deep," she said softly, "but they'll bruise for a few days."

Yuki merely nodded.

Alisa's hands curled into fists. She hesitated, then spoke again.
