Chapter 31 - Chapter 31: The Secret Behind the Door.

The sun had barely risen, and the soft morning light spread gently across the house. Birds chirped from the garden, and the smell of freshly made tea filled the air.

Hannah had woken up early, just like every other morning. She prepared breakfast, ironed the girls' uniforms, and made sure both Isabelle and Felicity were ready for school. After they left, she cleaned the kitchen, tidied the living room, and swept the hallway.

It was a calm morning—until a thought crossed her mind.

She needed to go to town to buy a few personal things.

She walked quietly through the corridor toward Victoria's room, her heart steady, ready to ask for permission.

But before she could knock… she froze.

A soft laugh came from inside the room — Victoria's voice, but not the one she used with her family. It was softer, almost flirtatious.

"Oh, stop it…" Victoria giggled.

"You know I've miss you so much . He's away on his business trip, you can come over later."

Hannah's eyes widened. He's away? she thought. Does she means David.

Her hand, which had been raised to knock, slowly lowered. She leaned closer to the door, holding her breath.

"Don't worry," Victoria continued, her tone full of confidence.

"He won't be back for another week. You can stay as long as you want."

Then came the sound of laughter again — and the rustle of movement, as if she were sitting comfortably on the bed.

Hannah's heart pounded. She couldn't believe what she was hearing.

So… Victoria has another man?

Her mind began to race — Does David know? What kind of woman treats her husband and child this way?

She stepped back quietly, careful not to make a sound, and hurried down the hallway.

As she reached her room, she sat on the bed, her hands trembling slightly.

She whispered to herself,

"So this is the kind of person she is. A woman with everything — yet still unfaithful. And she's raising my daughter..."

She sighed deeply, rubbing her forehead.

"If David knew the truth about her, maybe he'd finally see who the real monster is."

Just then, her phone buzzed — a message from Rachel:

"Good morning, Grace. How are things going there?"

Hannah stared at the screen, her mind still spinning from what she'd just heard.

She typed slowly:

"Morning, Rach. Everything's fine… but I just discovered something. Something big."

She didn't explain more — not yet.

There was something else she needed to do first.

She looked out the window, her reflection faint against the morning sun.

"One truth at a time," she whispered.

"First, I'll get proof that Felicity is my daughter… then I'll deal with Victoria."
