Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

I sat at my usual seat by the window with my earpods plugged in to cancel out the noise from the classroom.

Every class was like this. Every coursemate making a lot of noise except for some handful of students who were probably too shy to interact, or too focused to indulge.

It didn't take a while for the teacher to step into the classroom – except he wasn't our usual old, grumpy teacher.

No.

This one was tall and all smiles; and young too. I would've mistaken him for a student if not for the ID he was wearing around his neck.

The room quietened the moment he walked in. All eyes wide open, jaws dropped, and for the first time they were not just exaggerating. The man looked like someone straight out of a wattpad fantasy. The dirtiest, most arousing image you have ever thought of.

As though he was clueless of the effect he had on everyone – or maybe he was used to it – he spoke, voice clear, deep and velvety with the kind of confidence you could only dream of having in this judgemental world.

"Good morning, class. I'm Damien Roberts, your new Economics teacher for the time being."

The class slowly broke into quiet squeals from the girls, and groans from the guys; some looking at him with a gaze that can only be seen as envy and I wouldn't blame them.

It hasn't even been up to ten minutes since the man walked in and all the girls were already crushing on him. And though I hate to admit it, I fear that I might actually be one of them.

But can you really blame me? It's not everyday that a literal Greek god walks into your classroom to teach Economics even though he is just a substitute.

"Now that you know my name, I would like to know yours."

One by one everyone stood up to tell him their names, and then it was my turn.

I stood up slowly, taking in deep, calm breaths to make sure I don't become a stuttering mess in front of him and the whole class.

"I'm Abigail." I said simply and sat down. He didn't need to know my last name. He'd forget it anyway.

Also, did I mention how bad I am at speaking in front of people? Well now you know.

After that, we started learning, and I'm glad that he isn't just a pretty face. He actually knew what he was doing, and he explained it in clean, simplified terms that I would be shocked if no one understands.

It was damn hot. Like, there's seriously nothing better than an intelligent, hot man who knew what he was doing.

But as much as there are a ton of pros to him being our teacher, there was obviously a con. He was distracting. How the hell was anyone supposed to focus on lectures when all we wanted to do was stare at his face.

Soon the class was over. Everyone was disheartened by it cause why not?

My next class was marketing, and honestly I didn't feel like looking at a rather boring face the entire class. But I don't really have much of a choice.

If only Mr. Damien would just teach in all my classes. Wouldn't that be a blessing?
