Chapter 39 - [DEM] 39: Magus and Alchemist

In simple terms, from now on, these five Heroic Spirits would answer to Morpheus, not Alaya.

Alaya would have no authority over them.

However, Alaya wouldn't hand over all five at once. Morpheus hadn't yet dismantled the Umbrella Corporation, so she wasn't about to deliver the full payment upfront.

That's not how business works.

She decided to pay a forty percent deposit—two Heroic Spirits to start.

Once Morpheus completely eliminated Umbrella, she'd deliver the remaining three.

Morpheus had no objections.

After the deal was struck, Alaya asked, "Now, tell me which Heroic Spirits you want. But I must warn you: Grand Servants are off-limits. That's my line in the sand."

Morpheus clicked his tongue and, without hesitation, named his first choice.

"Medea."

Among all magi, Medea was undoubtedly a standout.

A witch from the Age of Gods, her magecraft wielded power close to True Magic.

She could perform any great magecraft with her "High-Speed Divine Words" Skill in a single action.

Her abilities surpassed even the strongest modern magi, outstripping even Magicians.

While Medea wasn't a Magician, calling her "a magus infinitely close to a Magician" would raise no objections.

In the official lore, the world was once filled with magic, and Medea was its embodiment—a figure of awe-inspiring mystery.

Moreover, she was a disciple of Hecate, the Greek goddess of magic.

That alone spoke volumes about her caliber.

Among the countless magi, only a handful could rival her.

Solomon was one such figure.

But Alaya would never hand over Solomon—he was a Grand Servant.

Aside from Solomon, maybe only Merlin could match Medea.

But Merlin was too troll. Compared to him, Morpheus preferred Medea's edge.

Who doesn't love a witch?

So, Medea was his first pick.

"Acceptable," Alaya agreed readily. Medea didn't cross her line, so she approved without hesitation.

"And the second?"

Morpheus's eyes glinted. "For the second, I'll take Paracelsus."

Another magus, his full name was Paracelsus von Hohenheim.

A legendary physician and alchemist, widely known as a Renaissance figure from the 16th century. From rediscovering the "four (or five) elements" To the "three principles," He left behind numerous achievements and writings, a rare figure renowned in both human and magecraft history.

A powerful magus wielding the five elements, rational and composed.

Gentle by nature, averse to conflict, he often declared human love the most precious thing.

In magecraft, he might not surpass Medea.

But in alchemy, he outshone her.

Morpheus had his reasons for choosing him.

Alaya nodded again. Paracelsus was exceptional, but there were plenty of Heroic Spirits who outclassed him.

She wasn't attached.

"Tomorrow morning, during the summoning ritual, I'll send them both to you."

Morpheus gave a hum of acknowledgment.

Then, Alaya left behind the summoning ritual and exited his dream.

Soon after, Morpheus awoke, opening his eyes to find daylight streaming through the window, sunlight spilling across his body.

He got out of bed and sent a message to Erina and Hisako.

"I'm hosting two friends today. Prepare breakfast for three, and make it lavish."

It wasn't long before he received their replies.

"No problem, Lord Morpheus."

"Please wait a moment, Lord Morpheus."

After freshening up in the bathroom, Morpheus returned to the living room and began leisurely drawing the summoning circle for the Heroic Spirits, using his own blood.

A single drop, stretched thinner than a hair, formed the intricate array for summoning from the Throne of Heroes.

Then, he began the chant.

"Fill, Fill, Fill, Fill, Fill."

"Let each be turned over five times, simply breaking asunder the fulfilled time."

"I shall declare here. Your body shall serve under me, my fate shall be with your sword."

"Answer my call, if you would submit to this will and reason, then answer."

"An oath shall be sworn here! I shall attain all virtues of all of Heaven. I shall have dominion over all evils of all of Hell."

"From the Seventh Heaven, attended to by three great words of power, come forth from the ring of restraint, Protector of the Balance."

The next moment, the magic circle erupted in brilliant light, and two figures materialized at its center.

As the glow faded, a woman in an indigo-and-purple hooded cloak and flowing purple robes stood alongside a man with a black side ponytail.

The woman in purple robes was, of course, Medea, the magus of the Age of Gods.

The man with the side ponytail was Paracelsus von Hohenheim.

If Paracelsus were a woman, Morpheus might've teased her about how risky that hairstyle was.

But since he was a man…

Why would a guy wear a side ponytail?

Trying to be cute?

"This time, we've been summoned by quite the remarkable figure," Medea said, removing her hood to reveal a plain yet beautiful face.

"Medea greets you, my lord."

Paracelsus nodded as well. "Greetings, my lord."

Morpheus acknowledged them with a hum. "Alaya should've filled you in already."

Medea nodded. "When we descended to this world, Alaya informed us we've been given to you. I'm curious—what kind of person could wrest us from Alaya's grasp?"

Morpheus replied, "I suppose you could call me an Extra-Dimensional Demon and Dimension Lord, akin to Hades, Lord of the Underworld. But my domain isn't the underworld—it's the Light Dimension."

Medea's eyes flickered, gaining a clearer understanding of Morpheus's nature.

He was even more extraordinary than she'd imagined.

She asked curiously, "I have a question, Lord Morpheus. If you're aiming to dismantle Umbrella, why not request more powerful Heroic Spirits from Alaya instead of us?"

Paracelsus shared the same curiosity, his gaze fixed on Morpheus, awaiting his answer.
