Chapter 46 - Chapter 44: Seeing the Struggle, Recalling Leopard Head

We speak now of Harry, who had switched to the "5000-li" talismans, determined to capture and kill his foe.

Dobby, not understanding his actions, just pleaded, "Sir, please, promise Dobby—"

Before he could finish, Harry had thrown down his luggage and activated the "5000-li" talismans.

The sound arrived before the man. Dobby heard the shing of the saber being drawn and, in a panic, raised his hand to snap his fingers.

But the speed of "5000-li" was not something three or five "800-li" talismans could match.

Before Dobby's two fingers could touch, Harry was already upon him, saber swinging.

The short scoundrel, seeing this, quickly switched tactics, casting a magical shield.

Harry didn't hesitate. He activated the "5000-li" again, appeared on Dobby's other side, and lashed out with a kick.

This kick, empowered by "5000-li," carried a fearsome wind. It was like the Yellow River bursting its banks; it was like thunder from a clear sky, smashing the elf's fingers.

With a loud CRACK, Dobby's left hand was kicked, the bones and flesh shattering.

Though Dobby was used to self-harm, he had only ever endured superficial pain. How could he have ever felt such bone-deep agony?

He let out a miserable howl and tried to snap the fingers of his right hand. But Harry was prepared. He seized Dobby's fingers and, one by one, broke them.

Now, with both hands useless, Dobby could not snap his fingers, nor could he move an inch. Only then did the scarred lad's anger subside.

Seeing him immobile, Harry removed the "5000-li" talismans from his legs.

The secret of these talismans lay in the user's own physical weight and strength. Even Warden Dai did not dare use the 5000-li mark often.

Harry was only twelve. At his young age, using it for just a few seconds had made his legs feel as if they were filled with a hundred pounds of iron, bound by a thousand steel chains. He couldn't move a step.

After removing the talismans, Harry pressed his saber to Dobby's neck and sneered, "You strange scoundrel. Go ahead, try to teleport for me now!"

Dobby ignored the blade cutting his skin, ignored his ruined hands, and just wailed, "Sir must not return to Hogwarts!"

"Please, it is very dangerous there!"

It is said that even an ant will cling to life. But now, with the saber at his throat, this scoundrel did not beg for mercy, but only continued his warnings. This, in turn, made Harry see him in a different light.

He thought: My bracer is dark. This scoundrel has no killing intent. If he truly is a good fellow who came to warn me, wouldn't I be killing him unjustly?

After a moment, Harry shouted, "You avian cur! You intercept my letters time and again, claiming to protect my life, yet you won't speak clearly. How can this one believe you!"

"No, sir, Dobby is not lying..."

"Then tell this one what this disaster is."

House-elves are, by nature, subservient. Their blood flows with obedience. Even a rebellious one like Dobby, who had gone against his master, was still bound by that nature.

He wanted to tell Harry, but his body trembled. Even with broken hands, he tried to smash his head on the ground.

"Bad Dobby! Bad Dobby! Bad house-elf, betraying master!"

Harry already knew house-elves were loyal slaves. Seeing Dobby like this, how could he not know that the elf wanted to tell him, but was struggling against his own nature?

He thought: This slavery, carved into his very bones, is more venomous than the Killing Curse. But it has shown me Dobby's true character.

He recalled Leopard Head Lin Chong. In the past, how mighty he was! The weapons instructor of the 800,000 Imperial Guards, a great hero of the capital.

But when he ran into that lecherous fiend Gao Yanei, his iron-tower body was forced to bow, his tiger's back was broken. The man who stood tall against the heavens became a coward.

It was only after his face was branded, after he was exiled a thousand miles, and after his wife hanged herself, that the "Leopard Head's" true blood was awakened.

This Dobby, though a lowly slave, came to warn me out of respect. Though he is not the Leopard Head in the snowstorm, he is better than the weapons instructor of the 800,000 Imperial Guards.

Harry closed his eyes for a long moment. "You avian cur, you are lucky. Today, this one is in a mood to cultivate my character. I will spare your head for now."

Dobby's tears flowed. "Sir, how can Dobby ever repay your kindness..."

"Oh! Bad Dobby! Bad Dobby is not worthy of sir's kindness!"

Harry shouted, "If you are grateful, then go to Hogwarts and keep watch. If you dare to obstruct me again, this one will not spare you!"

With that, he put the "800-li" talismans back on and headed for Ottery St. Catchpole.

Harry, exhausted by the "5000-li" talismans, had to walk and rest. By the time he reached the village, it was already dark.

He was looking for Ron's estate when a turquoise car flashed its headlights. Harry was blinded. He was about to draw his saber when he heard someone call:

"Harry! We finally found you!"

"Welcome, Lion King! The loyal Weasley family is at your service."

"Please, allow me to take your luggage, Your Majesty."

Harry looked and saw Fred, George, and Ron getting out of the car.

He quickly clasped his hands. "Aiya! Two brothers, and you, Brother. Why are you here?"

"Hermione said you were behind her and would be here later. We've been waiting all afternoon."

"Hermione was going to come, but Ginny wanted company—you know, only girl in the house."

They put Harry's luggage in the trunk, and Harry got in. Fred stomped on the accelerator, and the car flew into the sky.

Harry was amazed. "This car is a Muggle creation. How can it use magic?"

George laughed. "My dad did it."

It turned out that Arthur Weasley loved Muggle artifacts and worked in the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office. He often used his position to acquire Muggle items.

This car was one of them. Arthur had bewitched it, turning it into a magical treasure.

As they were speaking, the car landed. Before them stood a crooked house, seven stories high. A wooden sign out front read "The Burrow."

Fred had intended to park quietly, but the engine let out a wail, drawing Mrs. Weasley to the door. "What were you three doing taking the car out again?!"

Ron, afraid of being grounded, quickly shouted, "Mum, we went to get Harry!"

Seeing Harry, Mrs. Weasley's expression instantly changed to one of delight. "Oh, Harry! I've been waiting for you."

"I heard from Hermione you were being troubled by a house-elf?"

Harry got out of the car and bowed. "Madam, if I may say, it was no great matter. My apologies for arriving so late and disturbing you."

Seeing his polite greeting and respectful words, Mrs. Weasley beamed. "Oh, don't be so formal, Harry. Make yourself at home."

With that, she went to get Harry's luggage.

She drew her wand and cast a levitation charm. The luggage floated for a moment, then suddenly tore open, and several heads rolled out.
