"I noticed the VC gave me quite some respect when I walked past," she said thoughtfully. "He must know I'm linked to you somehow."
"That's possible," Chibuzor nodded.
Then, after a brief pause, he added,
"But it's also possible he respects you for who you are."
She blinked.
"You think so?"
There was something in her voice, soft, almost hopeful, before she quickly steadied herself.
"Maybe… but he barely knows me. So it's most likely because of you," she concluded.
Then she added casually,
"But I do admire him, though. Anybody else might have thought I was just your secretary or something so no need to pay me any attention, but he still acknowledged me with respect."
Chibuzor's gaze shifted slightly.
"You admire him?" he asked.
His tone was calm.
Too calm
Olaedo didn't notice.
"Yeah," she nodded, already looking back toward the stage.
A beat passed.
Then...
"Who else do you admire?" he asked suddenly.
