On Stage – Kevin's Speech
Kevin: "Okay, thank you for coming, ladies and gentlemen, let's get—"
BOOM!
The back wall of the ballroom blew inward. Smoke and screams filled the air as masked men stormed in with rifles.
Masked Leader: "Nobody move! This is a robbery!"
Maeve (sighing, setting her wine glass down): "Of course. Can't even finish a drink."
A-Train: "Yo, I literally wore new sneakers for this! They're gonna get dirty."
Lamplighter (already flicking his lighter): "Finally. Something fun."
Kevin (thinking): "Oh great. My fundraiser just turned into Die Hard."

The Fight – Seven Style
The guests dove under tables while the Seven got to work.
Homelander floated off the ground, his cape flaring.
Homelander: "You boys sure you wanna ruin Kevin's big night?"
Masked Leader (shaking): "D-Don't move or we'll shoot!"
Homelander (smiling): "Go ahead."
Kevin (quickly stepping forward): "Okay, maybe don't antagonize the guys with automatic weapons while the donors are still in the room!"
Maeve rolled her eyes and grabbed one gunman by the collar, tossing him through the dessert table.
Maeve: "Sorry, Kev. I know you made all that stuff it looked uh reallygreat."
Kevin: "…dammit, I warned you guys to be careful with the cheesecake it was oreo flavor."
A-Train blurred past, tripping three men before they even knew he'd moved.
A-Train: "And that's why you don't skip leg day."
Lamplighter snapped his fingers, sending a curtain ablaze. The robbers panicked, scattering.
Kevin: "Hey, hey, maybe less fire inside the building we're still in and please don't forget the donors!?"
Kevin Steps Up
One of the masked men grabbed a hostage, pressing a gun to her head.
Masked Man: "Back off or she dies!"
The room froze. Even Homelander tilted his head, ready to vaporize the guy.
Kevin, though, stepped forward calmly. He felt the water in the pipes overhead thanking himself for working on his water-bending, in the sprinklers, in the glasses left on tables. With a flick of his hand, the pipes burst—water crashing down. The gunman was knocked flat, the hostage freed also dry becausethe water ony hit the gunmen. And at last Kev used fishman karate for the first time, shark darts which seemed to be just a few water droplets but all of them landed on different masked men and knocked them out.
Kevin: "Sorry, buddy. My party, my rules."
The crowd gasped. Even Maeve raised her eyebrows.
Maeve: "Okay, Deep… that was a pretty neat trick."
A-Train: "Wait—you can do that? Since when?"
Kevin (genuinely confused): "what do you mean I train every day and I ask you guys to spar constantly.
Maeve- oh yeah you told .
Me you were working on a fighting style I thought you were joking gotta say Bravo.
Translucent- yeah yeah gold stars all around now can we just finished the even so I can go home.
Aftermath – Backstage
The masked men were tied up, the cops hauling them away. The donors, surprisingly, cheered louder than ever.
Homelander clapped Kevin on the shoulder.
Homelander: "Well, look at you. Saving the day. Not bad, Kev." nice moves we gotta spar some time.
Kevin: "Thanks… I think?"
Maeve: "Next time, though, try not to ruin the catering."
Kevin (groaning): "I worked all week on that cheesecake…"

Kevin sat stiffly in the chair across from Madelyn. She didn't even look up at him at first, just kept tapping a pen against her notepad. Finally, she sighed and leaned back.
Madelyn: "Kevin, the fundraiser was… fine. The donors loved you, the press loved you. But let's cut through it—Vought doesn't care about charity."
Kevin: "…you don't?"
Madelyn (deadpan): "No. Charity work doesn't move merchandise. It doesn't sell action figures, it doesn't get people subscribing to Vought+ to watch reruns of Seven at Seven. It costs us money. You? You're lucky last night generated good PR, and that caused your merch to sell more, because if it hadn't, we'd be having a very different conversation right now."
Kevin blinked.
Kevin: "Wait, are you saying if the gala flopped… you'd have fired me?"
Madelyn (flatly): "Yes, Kevin. You've been coasting. Your little projects—feeding families, building homes, handing out scholarships—do nothing for our bottom line. If you weren't good for headlines this week, you'd already be gone. I mean you barely do any ads and when you do actual hero work you forget to tell the PR team"
Kevin rubbed the back of his neck, looking uncomfortable.
Kevin: "I thought being a superhero meant actually helping people."
Madelyn leaned forward, eyes sharp.
Madelyn: "Helping people makes us look good. That's the only part that matters. Don't confuse what you do in that costume with what we sell. If you want to survive here, Kevin, remember this—charity is only useful when it pays us back."
She picked up her phone, already dismissing him.
Madelyn: "That'll be all. Go… swim or whatever it is you do."
Hallway – Outside the Office
Kevin stepped out, shoulders slumped. He muttered under his breath.
Kevin: "Swim or whatever… real inspiring pep talk."
Maeve walked past, sipping from her flask, and noticed his face.
Maeve: "Let me guess. She hates your goody two shoes routine?"
Kevin (sighing): "Apparently I'd already be fired if last night wasn't good PR."
Maeve smirked faintly.
Maeve: "Welcome to Vought. Do something good, they get mad. Screw something up, they cover for you. Backwards, isn't it?"
Kevin groaned, heading toward the elevator.
Kevin (thinking): "Great. First real win, and I'm still one step from unemployment. Guess I better make this 'good guy' thing profitable."
