Arthur sat in his kitchen, Regis lying close by. He was eating when suddenly his communicator rang.
Arthur sighed, already recognizing the signal as an emergency. Arthur quickly cleaned his face and hands, then answered the call.
"Arthur here".
"Hello, there has been a gate outbreak, sending coordinates."
"Understood."
While most would have a tracker on their locations, to see if they would be able to reach the locations. Arthur didn't have such a problem due to Godstep.
"Location sent, good luck"
The call ended abruptly, finally seeing the location, Arthur's heart sank a little, immediately vanishing.
Memories already summoned, he surveyed the destruction.
And only a block or two, Arthur saw it, the orphanage he grew up in. Then he turned towards the gate; seemingly, he was the only master present, and a few were awake just due to their proximity to the gate.
And then he saw the rank of the gate, fallen.
Not horrible, if it were below Tyrant Arthur, het be able to deal with the guardian.
Soon the gate opened, a tide of creatures flooding in.
Arthur decided not to risk anything, so he didn't hold back on his first attack.
Immediately augmented the Dawn's ballad, and summoned destruction on top of it.
Arthur warned the awoken to stay back.
Then he swung, the blade extending, carving the first line in half, the dozen or so kill confirmations ignored.
Then destruction rose into the air, killing several dozen more, and it stayed on the ground at his command, creating unbreakable barriers.
Then Arthur moved, without even Godstepping; his physical prowess was far beyond any normal master, and buffing himself with the "embers", he brought hell to the battlefield.
He was an unstoppable force, cleaving and incinerating everything in his path.
So entranced in the fighting, he did not notice the several people, and even a news team arriving, his actions being broadcast to the entirety of the world.
Arthur ducked, then leaned to the side. The next second, the creature attacking him vanished, only embers remaining in its place. Then he felt it, the slow madness creeping in; it was far less problematic now that he had Regis, but it reminded him of his limitations.
Arthur scowled, now only relying on his augmentations, essence, and memories.
The pace slowed noticeably, but Arthur continued anyway.
He needed to slow down his flaws and save as much as he could for the guardian.
Finally, another master arrived, and Arthur slowed further, trying to save his energy while the master covered him.
A few minutes passed, and finally Arthur got back into it.
Together with the other master, they slashed, stabbed, and butchered the creatures.
After a few more minutes of this, the master finally fell back, exhausted by the numbers. Especially since he had an elemental type aspect, well known for stamina issues in close quarters.
Then finally, the guardian emerged, Arthur scowled, disgusted and annoyed by the creature.
The creature itself was a winged beast, with wings the size of a small house, a beak covered in blood, and six legs all clawed in wicked angles. But of course, there had to be a catch. Having wings wasn't enough for it.
And so as it emerged in all its towering disgust, it let out a shriek, sound itself being manipulated, a few windows shattered, and finally the civilians started retreating.
Only a few mundane people remain.
Arthur sighed, immediately augmented his blade and himself. Then he absolutely blurred, his speed unmatched, going for one of the wings immediately, making sure the battle would take place on the ground.
Arthur dodged the flair of the wings, slashing against one of the joints. Only his blade barely cut into the flesh.
Arthur grimaced, he would need to lower his own physical strength to just do damage to the creature.
So he teleported back, augmenting his blade more, starting to circulate essence in his body.
And to finish off the insane buffing, he brought out Tmdestruction as well.
Then he blurred, slightly slower than last, going for the other wing.
The creature screeched, louder, painfully louder.
Arthur managed to cut halfway into the wing before he had to disengage, his ears slightly bleeding, which his armor was already working to heal up.
He blitzed around the creature, testing its capabilities to react to him. Luckily, it didn't seem that the creature was able to keep track of him.
Then a wave of electricity shot towards the creature, it flapping its wings trying to protect itself, already seemingly unable to take flight.
Then Arthur moved, appearing just behind the creature's head, mid-air, he thrusted his blade into it, drawing blood, but enough to kill. Just as it was about to let out another scream, Regis merged with the blade, immediately cleaving through the creature's head.
It fell to the ground, raising dust into the air.
Regis is already back in his soul sea.
[You have killed a Fallen Devil, Psychic Hraesvelgr].
[Your destruction grows stronger!]
And with that, the gate has been dealt with, immediately, cheers rang out.
People shouted, whistled, and screamed in joy.
Arthur couldn't help but feel proud, because he was the cause of this. The people were happy he was there.
And he should feel proud.
