Racing through the dense woodland toward Mistwood territory, Nash caught sight of rapid movement between the trees. A brown wolf was retreating toward Storm Peak territory. Zackary was fleeing.
A cruel laugh escaped Nash's throat. Zackary believed he was heading into battle against Nash, but instead he was running toward an empty battlefield. The coward had expected confrontation, but now he was racing home with his dignity shattered. Zackary had deserted his own warriors after the assault began, leaving them to face the consequences alone. The situation couldn't have worked out better for Tiara.
