Theodore's POV
I woke to a throbbing pain that split through my skull like lightning. The familiar scent of home filled my nostrils, cutting through the haze of confusion that clouded my mind.
Seraphine.
"Seraphine?" I whispered, convinced this had to be some kind of dream.
My limbs felt like lead weights. Every muscle in my body screamed as if I had been thrown into an inferno and then plunged into arctic waters. The numbness was so complete that I couldn't even twitch my fingers. When I finally managed to open my eyes, dark storm clouds stretched across the sky above me. Turning my head with considerable effort, I took in the crumbling stone walls and weathered pillars of the Eldermere ruins surrounding us.
Then I saw her. My beautiful Seraphine.
