Theodore had postponed the celebration he planned for the pack. The thought of exposing his newborns to potential danger made him restless. This fierce protectiveness surprised me. The ruthless Alpha of the North had transformed into a devoted father who rarely left our children's side. My chest tightened with affection watching him whisper sweet words to Dalia. She held his heart completely. He insisted she required extra protection compared to her brother, claiming his daughter deserved to be treated like royalty.
No female had ever been born into the Mistwood Alpha lineage. Dalia represented something unprecedented.
"The Elders requested a meeting with you," he murmured as we rested together. His fingers intertwined with mine, studying our clasped hands in the flickering firelight.
"What do they want?" I asked drowsily.
"Who can say?" he replied roughly. "Those ancient wolves follow their own agenda."
"I'll see them tomorrow."
