Chapter 2 - Mission completed

"Oh, Natasha, aren't you just wasting your time with these broke kids?" Another woman sneered.

"We have a few options available right now…" Natasha ignored the mock and said with a smile before mentioning a few cars slowly.

"I want to buy this Mercy-AMG GT53 for exactly $100,000. Can you make that happen?" James asked with a calm smile.

The reason why James asked that was obviously because he was such a cheapskate.

The Mercy-AMG GT 53 was priced at $105,450 and the reason why he chose this was to have a discount, as he had a plan in mind.

It wasn't exactly a plan but more of a precaution in case things went south. He was just being overly cautious in case he couldn't spend the money on his family and complete the mission.

At that time, he would've taken the loss and immediately sold it while looking at the right person and finding a solution to make up for the loss.

Of course, this was just a possibility that might not even happen since the system didn't specify and only said, 'someone with at least 80% favorability.'

[Mission: Spend $100,000 on someone with at least 80% favorability.]

However, because he was using basically all of their fortune, he needed to think about all possibilities that could happen.

"This… I can't call the shots, but let me talk to my manager first. Please wait for a moment, sir." Natasha hesitated for a second, then replied before hurrying back to the place where she came from.

"Take your time.," James responded with a smile.

"Brother, you should brush the dust off your clothes first. If you dirty a car, they might fine you." Kai nudged him worriedly.

"Hahaha, okay, okay…" James laughed and walked out of the showroom to clean up the dust on his clothes.

He actually had forgotten to clean the dust properly because his whole mind has been filled with thinking about many things ever since he awakened the second system.

Half a minute later, the young woman came with a woman in her early 30s that's just as charming as Natasha beside her.

"Hello, sir. I'm Scarlett Vane, the showroom manager." Scarlett greeted and introduced herself as she sized both him and Kai from top to bottom.

She then continued with a smile. "Natasha tells me you're offering $100,000 for the AMG GT53?"

"That's right, I also need the car right now. Can you call the shots about it?" James nodded calmly.

Scarlett knitted her eyebrows, seemingly thinking about it for a moment.

Looking at her expression, James continued with a smile. "If you can make it happen, I'll buy more cars within the next few days."

Scarlett raised an eyebrow and replied right away. "I'll prepare the contract right away. Natasha, please proceed with the payment."

"Sure." James responded and followed Natasha with Kai while Scarlett went to the group of women who had mocked Natasha and ordered one of them to prepare the contract.

"Ms. Scarlett, you don't actually believe he can afford it, do you?" One of the women asked seriously.

"Hmmmph! Just watch." Scarlett snorted, as she didn't like the attitude of these short-sighted bitches because they always look down on people based on their appearance, which actually had made them lose quite a few potential customers.

If it weren't that they brought more benefits to the company compared to the loss they have made, she would've fired them without batting an eye.

Scarlett actually had a little doubt in her heart, but her experience and instinct told her to never underestimate anyone regardless of how they look.

As Natasha carefully guided James to the payment counter while Kai stood nervously behind him, his eyes were looking around between the car and the group of women watching from afar.

"Sir, please insert your card here," Natasha said politely, handing him the payment terminal.

James nodded calmly and took out his normal blue card from his wallet. His heart was pounding in excitement as he inserted the card and tapped in his PIN.

However, something unexpected happened when he heard a beeping sound.

Beep!

Transaction Failed.

The terminal let out a sharp sound as the red text flashed across the screen.

"Eh?" Kai blinked in confusion.

Natasha's smile stiffened. "S-sir… It says the transaction has been declined."

For a moment, James stared at the screen with a stunned expression. He then quickly realized what had happened.

'Fuck! This must be the daily transaction limit…'

He had been so excited about completing the mission that he completely forgot about the spending cap on his card.

From across the showroom, the saleswomen immediately burst into laughter.

"Pfft… HAHAHAHA! I knew it!" One of them mocked loudly.

"I told you he couldn't afford it. He's just putting on a show!" another sneered.

"Acting rich with such a cheap card. This is the first time…"

Their mocking voices echoed through the spacious showroom, drawing the attention of a few other customers nearby.

James didn't even flinch as he simply glanced in their direction.

"You're done?" he asked calmly, his voice carrying a quiet weight that made the laughter die down for a brief second.

Without another word, James pulled out his phone from his pocket and dialed a number.

"Hello, this is James Morgan. I need my card's daily spending limit increased immediately. Yes, it's urgent—I need to make a $100,000 purchase right now…."

"Brother—"

James raised a hand slightly, signaling Kai to stay still as he continued the call.

"Yes, I'll confirm my identity… Done. Please process it right away."

Within moments, the person on the other end responded, and James's phone vibrated with a confirmation message.

"Thank you," James said before hanging up.

He then turned back to Natasha with a calm smile as if nothing had happened. "Let's try again."

Natasha quickly handed him the terminal again, her hands trembling slightly from the sudden shift in atmosphere.

Beep!

Transaction Approved.

The terminal emitted a cheerful sound as the green "Payment Successful" message appeared on the screen.

The saleswomen who mocked James before froze, their smug expressions immediately disappearing into stunned silence.

"This… it actually went through?" One of them whispered in shock.

James casually took the receipt from Natasha and slipped the card back into his wallet.

"Thank you," he said with a smile, thinking that if it wasn't because of her, he would've needed to spend more time going to another dealership.

The room remained silent for a beat as everyone processed what had just happened.

"Kai," James said, tapping his brother's shoulder, "sign the paperwork. This car is yours."

"No," James said firmly. "It has to be you."

James shook his head and replied with a serious expression. "No, you need to be the one who signs it."

Kai was initially confused for a moment but finally agreed under the cold stare from his brother.

Kai nervously followed Natasha's instruction as she laid out the paperwork given by one of the women who had mocked them.

"Sir, please sign your name on the marked section," Natasha said with a gentle smile, pushing the pen toward him.

Kai's hand trembled slightly as he held the pen. He glanced at his brother one last time.

"Do it," James chuckled.

Taking a deep breath, Kai leaned forward and scribbled his signature on the contract.

The moment the pen left the paper, a familiar mechanical sound rang in James' mind.
