Chapter 4 - A New Mission

The moment James upgraded his rank, he felt an unknown energy that was much more than when he increased his stats to the max, even though it had only increased by 1 stat each.

A moment later, James opened his personal information, as he was just curious to see his newest stats.

[Name: James Morgan]

[Wealth: $1,000,690] [System Points: 713,000]

[Age: 21]

[Race: Human]

[Rank: E]

[Skills: – ]

[Stats]:

Strength: 50 | Agility: 50 | Physique: 50 | Sense: 50 | Mana: 50 | Magic: 50

Looking at his own personal information, James was happy as he finally became an E-rank Awakener.

But now that he thought about it again, if it weren't for the 50% discount, he would've had to spend 300k system points or $600,000 to only break through to E-rank Awakener, which was an absurd amount of money that he wouldn't pay if he weren't as rich as hell or had the system.

"Brother, we're almost at Starfall Armory," Kai's voice made James come back to his senses, and he immediately opened the system's shop to look for a weapon to sell.

While searching through the weapon section, James finally found out that with 500-700k system points, he could basically buy top-tier C-rank weapons.

He was quite surprised when he discovered this because the top C-rank weapons sold outside were at least $1,000,000.

But then, he realized that it would make sense if the things that were bought in the system were valued higher in real life since, in terms of upgrading his strength, system points were valued twice as high as the dollars.

A few moments later, he finally decided on his choice of the weapon he wanted to buy.

"System, purchase the Aether Edge." James ordered.

[Ding! 350,000 System Points have been successfully deducted due to a 50% discount as your first purchase.]

[Ding! You have successfully purchased the Aether Edge, a C-rank longsword. The item has been transferred to your inventory.]

'Fuck… You've got to be kidding me.'

James cursed in his heart when he looked at the notifications, as he had never thought that he would receive another 50% discount.

If he were to know that there was such a thing, he would've waited until he gathered more system points so that he could save them more instead of using them now and just getting a 50% discount on a 700k system points purchase.

Sigh!

'It is what it is…' James sighed and looked for another thing to buy with the remaining 363k system points.

Because he was quite upset this time, he didn't take his time in looking through and immediately ordered the system the moment he found something that cost around 350k system points.

"I want to buy the Moonveil Shield!" James ordered the system.

[Ding! 350,000 system points have been successfully deducted.]

[Ding! You have successfully purchased the Moonveil Shield, a C-rank shield. The item has been transferred to your inventory.]

The sleek black car slowed to a stop in front of a massive building with a glowing silver sign, 'Starfall Armory.' The entire storefront shimmered beneath the afternoon sun, its polished glass windows revealing faint silhouettes of weapons and artifacts inside.

Just as they stepped inside the store, James heard a familiar voice from inside.

"Oh my… Isn't this our famous hard worker, James Morgan?" A young man with short black hair sneered with a mocking smile.

"Finally decided to try the Awakener path and look for some cheap equipment?"

Faced with such an insult, James's and Kai's expressions stayed calm, as they had been in this kind of situation plenty of times.

James waved his hand, signaling Kai to hold himself as he continued to walk towards an empty counter.

Tch!

"As expected of orphans… They know how to keep their heads down like obedient dogs." The young man laughed out loud with a beautiful young woman beside him.

James stopped for a moment, tilted his head as he looked at his college friend calmly before sighing softly, and continued to ignore him.

"Babe, look at how helpless this fucker is. He's as helpless as when his parents died because of an outbreak from a gate since they're just normal people." The young man continued to mock James.

"You!" Kai couldn't hold back any longer and pointed his finger at the young man.

James gritted his teeth and glared at the young man. "Ethan, don't go too far!"

Before Ethan replied, James suddenly received notifications from the systems and was surprised when he checked the content.

[Ding! You have received a Mission.]

[Mission: Outshine the arrogant and never let others look down on you!]

[Reward: A Summon Card]

'Oh? A summon card? What's that?' James raised an eyebrow as he looked at the translucent blue panel data in front of him.

"Hmmph! What if I have gone too far? What can you even do about it?" Ethan snorted with a smug expression.

James narrowed his eyes slightly, his calm expression never wavering as he looked at Ethan and asked coldly.

"Why?"

"Why do you keep mocking me every time we meet? What exactly do you get from this?"

Ethan smirked and folded his arms, his posture was full of arrogance.

"Isn't it obvious?" he scoffed. "You're just a poor orphan who has nothing. No background, no money, no real strength. People like you might walk into a place like this, but deep down… you'll always be trash that doesn't belong here."

Kai clenched his fists tightly, but James simply sighed, then sharpened his gaze at Ethan with a faint smile tugged at the corner of his lips. "Is that so? Let's make it interesting then."

Ethan raised an eyebrow, clearly amused by the thing that James was about to say. "Oh? What do you have in mind?"

James took a step closer as he said with a calm expression. "Right here, right now. We'll see who can buy or sell the most valuable item in this store. Whoever loses…"

James deliberately let the silence weigh in before finishing with a smile. "Kneels and bows to the winner in front of everyone."

People shifted their gazes as they became interested when they heard James' last sentence.
