It seemed like the world had moved forward effortlessly in the five years I was gone, while I was the only one who had changed in ways I couldn't even call an improvement.
But what the hell was he doing here?
SynCore was GenVanta's biggest rival. The only reason David Blooms would be anywhere near this place was to sniff around for information.
My eyes narrowed as he smiled warmly at me. I didn't return it.
"Nice to see you again," he said.
I scoffed internally. There was nothing nice about seeing him. If anything, it unsettled me. Running into him here, of all places, dredged up memories I had no interest in revisiting.
"Do you have a minute?" he asked when I didn't respond. "I mean well."
