Was that a bad thing?

He said it like it was a sin to be a virgin. A fucking virgin at twenty-four.

I bit my lip and said nothing, shifting slightly, but Dominic's hand clamped down on my shoulder, holding me still.

"Don't move," he grunted. "I thought… Owen… how are you a virgin?"

"Maybe because I am," I muttered.

God, this was even more embarrassing than I imagined. Why couldn't he just drop it and continue? What was with the questions?

"Why didn't you tell me?" he asked quietly, and I felt him start to pull away.

"Please, don't stop!" I blurted before I could stop myself, heat flooding my cheeks at the desperation in my voice. Painful or not, I trusted Dominic to make it right. To make it worth it.

But he didn't answer. He entirely pulled out, leaving me aching and empty. Then he turned me to face him, his eyes scanning mine. I dropped my gaze to his beautiful toes instead.

"Look at me, Harper," he said, low and commanding.
