Chapter 51 - Reputation at stake

After Dominic left, he didn't return to the living room, but I wished he did. At this minute, I needed that little distraction, even if it was from Mila or even Jason. I'd prefer his scornful glare right now. But none of them were here.

And I was at the mercy of Jude Fletcher and his son. God help me.

I placed my hands on my lap, waiting for Jude to say what he came to say so I could return inside, but he continued to stare at me. I squirmed under his scrutiny, pushed a strand of hair behind my ear, and lifted my gaze to meet his. My brows creased as I saw the slight twinkle in his eyes and that awful smile. My stomach clenched. I hated the way he smiled. I had always hated it.

"So," Jude Fletcher began, walking toward the two-seater where Owen was sitting. He sat next to him, and I breathed a sigh of relief, grateful that at least there was a small distance between us. But I would've preferred it to be greater, one that couldn't be crossed in a stride or two.
